1. We do this fairly regularly but you have to charge accordingly. Most band member will come away with £400 minimum.
 2. I have a Kingbass with the 'Bendwell' which in effect makes it a 32" scale.... Low B is fantastic but thats probably down to the construction of these basses
 3. Don't listen to too much Prog but do love Frost*. Maybe because its more of a commercial sound its easier to listen too for me anyway. One of my fave albums of theirs - https://youtu.be/xW2hjRO_2DA
 4. What ab out DJ as part of the band a la Jamiroquai/De la Soul/soul to Soul etc.... I've played with a few bands where this is part of the line up and definitely adds to the songs
 5. They have been trying to take Thomann on at their own game for the past couple of years. If you refer back to the Thomas pricing thread a while back you will see my comments there about it. Yes they have an address in the UK and a UK telephone number (which actually if you ring goes through to their Netherlands HO) but everything is currently being shipped from the Netherlands where they are based. It's going to be an even bigger issue for the UK MI stores now. Things are going to get a hell of a lot messier.
 6. Ironically we do a Disco version of Led Zeps Black Dog and The Ocean
 7.
Yes, if you can entertain a room full of people, and you charge within the current market rate what I'm saying is that it's possible to entertain a room full of people, and please a landlord, without playing the same old covers
This!
 8.
I have done it for you, as the hugeness was verging on unreadable. Chaps, if you're going to post setlists, can you make sure they are just lists of tunes rather than every single detail, as otherwise it can make them monstrously long and hard to read. Ta.
Cheers.... can you forward it on to all my band mates too.... I'll send you our dates list for editing laters ;o)
 9.
Crez5150 that's a great set list. Out of those tracks, are there any that you think would work with a four piece band? Ie guitar, bass and drums? We'd love to do some more disco/funk tracks but always feel that we'd struggle without the keys.
Probably the easiest ones are - Funky Music Kiss Superstition
We are a wedding band and we do 26 of those. Great as they are I'd call them pretty standard covers. But it's standard covers that get you booked again and again.
That was my point though..... I'm not saying they are unusual songs... they are in fact songs that everyone knows but predominatly won't get played in a pub. My point being that there are so many songs that are popular but the pub band crowd seem to only play a narrow selection
No offence, but why do we need to know what key your set lists are played in? The audience certainly wont !
I just copied from my set.... couldn't be arsed to remove every details when posting
Yeah, but disco's hard. Rock, in all its various forms, is easy.
I guess it depends on how competent the muso's in the group are. I wouldn't say it was any harder but I understand what you are saying
Also, not wishing to be a git, Crez, but your set list is kind of the disco classic equivalent of a rock classic set, those songs are the disco songs that everyone knows, just as All Right Now and Sex on Fire are the rock songs everyone knows, itjust so happens that there are sooo many more rock bands than disco bands. Probably because, as quoted above, disco is harder to play, generally. ( I happen to know your band is a bit tasty...!!!!) Where you have struck gold, IMO is that you can play your classic disco set at pretty much any sort of function and it will go down well, whereas a rock set is more limited to pubs, not too many people want to thrash away to Ace of Spades on their special day, or at the end of year function for a big company!!
Again spot on but as my previous post.... my point being that there are loads of popular songs that people don't play. The songs in my set are all fairly standard tunes that people know.
 10. I find it highly amusing...... Not that I play many pubs but we do try and play around ten pubs per year so that we can invite potential (mostly wedding) clients too. I always go in with the same blurb that we are not your average pub band (we play predominantly Disco covers) and that always gets raised eyes from the landlords/ladys. That'll never go down well here mate, they love the rock'..... I always make a bet with them there and then. If we don't entertain your punters as well as the best bands you have in here then we'll play for free. So far (7 years) we've not had to go down that route. It does amaze me when you see 90% of the bands playing the local circuit that have a similar set.... why is it that bands think they have to do this.... Are they worried to go outside of their comfort zone? Any way here's our set list - Carwash Play That Funky Music Ladies Night Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Groove Is In The Heart Turn On Tune In Cop Out We Are Family Jive Talking Get Down On It Kiss Kung Fu Fighting That's The Way I Like It Get Down Tonight Night Fever More Than A Woman Signed Sealed Delivered Pick Up The Pieces Treasure 1999 Good Times I Want Your Love Le Freak Move On Up Superstition Disco Inferno Funky Town Mighty Real Long Train/Jagger Uptown Funk Staying Alive You Should Be Dancing I Wish Set 1 (16 songs)
 11. I think you are going to struggle to get a decent set up for that money.... £2500 for tops subs monitors and mixer is not going very far. You'd be better off trying to get something second hand
 12. Depends on the brand/quality.... I've used a 3way Dynacord box several times in the past as a bass cab with great effect. Most of the time these days I just run a DI into the pa and don't bother taking backline.... let the PA and monitors do all the work
 13. We can do location recording. We are Essex based but we go all over the UK and beyond with our kit. https://www.facebook.com/CatmanBoogie https://www.facebook...BoogieLiveSound
 14. TBH there is no right or wrong in music (playing) its just how other people perceive it.
 15. It's the N-30 type.... don't buy the Foster/Foster direct replacement ones as they tend to blow easily. These are the ones I've purchased from Blue Arran and so far the last time I replaced was about 3 years ago http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=SONDP101D8
 16.
I think it's a good starting point, but 35" doesn't necessitate a good B, nor does a 34" scale mean a bad one. That said, all the basses I've had that felt good were 35 or above.
Absolutely... I play a 32" scale 5 string and the B tension is great and sounds very full even when slapped
 17. In my experience its more to do with bass construction than string construction.
 18. could be worse https://www.facebook.com/pages/Meat-Raffle-Band/137376239637228

 20. Most of the Socials we play have fairly large stages and pay at least double what the local pubs pay..... I like them. Meat Raffle anyone?
 21.
Nice promo video! Blue

Great media video, Jay.
Thanks guys..... works for us.
 22. Not a defined tribute as such but we push out as a tribute to a genre. http://youtu.be/yhUxGL0OcT8
 23. regardless of your drummer not wanting to play to a click, if you are using these sequences during or at the end of a song, you will need to make sure that you are at the correct tempo from the outset as you do not want to trigger the sequence and then have to speed up or slow down to match.
