  1. Strap set to "funk".
  2. Seeing Rickie Lee Jones play in Manchester, with my wife and daughter. I had never really thought about it but her work is among that which I know best as a listener. It was sublime seeing her re-work it with a drummer/vibes player and a pianist/accordianist on the fly. Accordians get a lot of stick, but a well played one is astonishingly expressive and when you are bouncing off RLJ's delivery then it gets no better for me. The textures and sonority of the whole ensemble were sublime. And it was a thrill to watch my daughter hearing it and going "wow, what is even happening?". She is pretty familiar with RLJ's output, but to watch her experiencing an artist flying so close to the edge and still nail it was beautiful. We shall not see her like again.
  3. WAIT!!!! We are allowed to do that?
  4. It was the saturation which was attracting me. But my days of playing live and being able to hear the nuances of my sound are well over. The saturation looks very nice.
  5. Just watched the video. I can see the attraction.
  6. Thanks. I looked at the Deco some time ago. It looks very nice indeed.
  7. Interesting. Tell us about it....
  8. Mark does lovely work.
  9. Rats, I was in London earlier this week and would have come to look at it. Ho hum.
  10. https://www.youtube.com/@bassdirect
  11. It is just as well there is something for everyone
  12. When I listen to stuff like this (and I do, lots) I find it deeply humbling. I find myself constantly thinking "where are you even pulling these lines from?".
  13. Suck-age.
  14. The Scott Dixon flightcases have the same vibe, but are more expensive. However, they come up on ebay now and again.
  15. I can see your rig. The Enki case looks like the least of your weight concerns.
  16. You can check out, but you can never leave.....
  17. I would play C with my 4th finger on the D string, D 1st finger on the G string, E 3rd finger on the G, D 1st on G strings and C 4th on the D string. I am FULLY aware this is controversial, but at that position it is very doable.
  18. I have found myself falling in to this hole as well. I am never going to programme anything. I just want 3 or 4 presets to do kind of organ pedal tones. I would happily spend the money on a Behringer Mini Moog-alike but the lack of presets is a complete non-starter for me. As soon as I have controllers which interact with each other everything goes fuzzy in my head. Running Moog apps on an iPad is great. Frankly, Garage Band presets do all I need. All the presets I could want. Even using the on screen keyboards are interesting as I can glide around between notes and moving your finger from front to back of the key opens various filters. Obviously I will need to hook up a hardware keyboard as well so that is more stuff to cart around which is sub optimal. But I thought I would throw this concept into the mix.
  19. And here I am stuck in the loop of "I need another bass like I need a hole in the head" and "but it will be fun".
  20. The groove in the pop shield is because I had stored it in the cradle. It will not be grooved within 5 minutes.
  21. Been there, mixing sound from the stage. Ho hum.
  22. <pointless post incoming> That is a very pleasing physical head to cab ratio.
  23. I would be very interested in what people would suggest instead of Ye Olde 58. I know there are many options. But names would be useful Thanks.
  24. Let's say £160 £150 Level control, synth control (same pitch as played note) and one octave down in an OC2 stylee. Each of these controls has a filter control to do filtery things. It can get pretty gnarly (dude) Words, words, words, words, more words, words, words and more words. Enough of my chatter. Words do not convey sounds very well, but this does....
