  1. I play weekly in church and thought I was relatively match fit with regard to playing. I took a 13 hour light ents TV job today. It turns out that I am not. The problem with the church stuff is that I am making up my own lines using chord charts and vibing with the (really good) drummers. So it is all good. However, today was much more involved with regard to reading. There was one solo fill high up the neck which I managed to nail down in practice but when the red light was on I made THE most spectacular dogs dinner of it. There is zero chance that will ever be broadcast. So my reading is certainly not match fit. I also did some Double Bass work there. I have not played DB in anger for a few years. WOWZERS, it is hard physical work. Actually getting the instrument to respond in the way I want takes a lot more hand strength than I have at the moment. I mean, I did stuff, but I am knackered now and I am going in for round 2 tomorrow. So I guess I am going to have to practice. Ugh.
  2. I used to (and probably still would if I had the vinyl) love his playing on Barbera Thompson's stuff. He knew what was right.
  3. To put it another way, it would be so monumentally wrong for everything I do. But with a B,I could not stop myself. I would be all over it like a bad rash.
  4. Very interesting. I have often thought about putting comedy bids across a bunch of stuff at Gardiner Holgate and seeing what happened. I had not thought it through far enough to realise I could undercut their lowest starting price. That is a proper niche (in a good way for us) instrument for an auction house. But clearly a very nice piece of kit. So you have to roll in to pick stuff up? They will not courier? I suppose not, there is all sorts of packing etc.

    East Pre Amps

Happy days. Mr East makes exceedingly fine preamps.
  8. Amp placement is also a factor. Having it projecting at the back of the instrument can be an issue. Not always, but can. If you stand to the side of it, that might alleviate immediate problems.
  9. That looks interesting. Still available? Thanks
  10. This is the content we want.
  11. Top nick. 91% battery. Kept in a hard shell case. I can do pictures if you really want Fresh install when the time comes. Fancy it, you know you do. Are you worth it? You are so worth it. When Apple introduced the M1, it included 16 billion transistors, just above the 15.8 billion used in the A15 Bionic chip. For the new chips, Apple decided to take advantage of the size benefits and think bigger. The M1 Pro is a chip with 33.7 billion transistors, more than double the original's count.
  12. Sorry, I am like a cracked record here. It is a flightcase. There is no need to pack it. Let the couriers do their worst. Let them see it as a challenge. It will hurt them more than it will hurt the flightcase.
  13. My 66J and 73P have brass nuts. At least I know they lived a little
  14. That's just vulgar!
  15. I have no input of any value other than EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I have form for this.
  17. That back is so nice that if it turns out to be uneconomic, I would take it apart and hang the back on the wall like a picture.
  18. Of course, it goes without saying that we HAVE to be told what the story is as it goes along. We are all invested in this now.
  19. My gut reaction is that there is some nice wood in there. Therefore, probably a nice instrument hiding under the cosmetics. To bring it up to playing standard might be worth a shot. To bring it back to its full glory would get spendy quickly. But I certainly think it would be worth a 25 mile drive to Sam Wells in Burnley to ask. https://samwellsbass.co.uk/
  20. I am afraid not. We only communicated via PM on here, and I honestly could not find her house now.
  21. Christine did some work on a Tele body I needed a belly cut on. I drove over there in 30 minutes (unheard of at this end of the world) and marvelled at wood coming off in thin sheets like peeling paper. It made me want to learn to do woodwork. Proper sharpness right there.
