  1. Muleskinners Blues - The Fendermen (& Jimmy Rogers but I thought you’d all like the name of the cover version band).
  2. I found the strings too close together for finger style, although if you look at pics/videos of 60s players they seemed to manage. It depends what you’re used to. As for Hofner strings - yuk.
  3. Seems pointless changing the strings 🥴
  4. Super trooper Abba
  5. You should try fretless and if your a 5 string player, it might be better to get a 5 fretless. If you can find one the now discontinued Spector Spectorcore is a great choice. Comes as 4 & 5 lined ebony board with either EMG or Bartolini pickup and a Fishman Piezo bridge. Or too expensive and high quality.
  6. Shy me to the moon - Sinatra ( after a few bourbons)
  7. The Stagg stand arrived today. Heavier than I expected but does the job for my NS NXT. The top arm extends a lot further than this if needed.
  8. My old man’s a dustman - Lonnie Donnegan
  9. Fast is a misnomer. Some necks feel more comfortable to ply on than others. I have a couple of “slim” which are great and one chunky which is fine but I did sand a bit of the gloss off of it as it did have a slightly “sticky” feel. It’s now much better and I’m equally comfortable playing that bass as the slimmer ones.
  10. I hadn’t heard of Warman. Looked at website, no mention of Firebucker pickup. Looked for Black plate - $80 I don’t think so. I did have the idea of covering the plate with gold vinyl but then just took it off.
  11. I have d’Addario flats on it now. I have used nylon tapes on another bass previously and it may be I will again.
  12. What is the colour, photos vary somewhat?
  13. I’m surprised this hasn’t been sold. Have a bump.
  14. River deep and Mountain high - Tina Turner
  15. Higher ground - Stevie Wonder
  16. You’re right about the colour match between the pickup and scratch plate. I’ve taken the plate off, looks better.
  17. Sorry no idea. I bought it second hand and there’s no clue on the label. I think these were only made for a very limited period, no doubt under pressure to stop from Epiphone who has moved production to China. I have started a thread on Peerless but so far mine is the only one posted, why not stick yours on there too?
  18. I know your not playing a Fender but this from their website about setting up pickups. Bass SideTreble Side Vintage style8/64" (3.2 mm)6/64" (2.4 mm) Noiseless™ Series8/64" (3.2 mm)6/64" (2.4 mm) Standard "J" or "P"7/64" (2.8 mm)5/64" (2 mm) Special Design Humbuckers7/64" (2.8 mm)5/64" (2 mm) Might help.
  19. Politician - Cream
  20. That’s on Fleabay at £49!
  21. Light my fire - The Doors
  22. I had a sunburst 66 EB2D a while back, they really do have a sound of their own. Looking at the photos I think Scrumymike is incorrect, I can’t see a 2nd pickup and there are no controls for it. Mine had independent volume and tone for each pickup, so I think this is correctly an EB2 and the single pickup model seems to be more collectible.
  23. Brilliant bass, Peerless make first class guitars. Love my Bassmaster Player and used to have a New Yorker guitar which I shouldn’t have sold. GLWS sorry I can’t afford it myself.
  24. I am pleased that the current management of Epiphone are recreating basses and guitars from their own past catalogues instead of imitations of the Gibson models and a couple of Hofners. Even though they were owned by Gibson since the dawn of time or at least Rock n roll time, they have a heritage of their own which is well worth recreation.
