Muleskinners Blues - The Fendermen (& Jimmy Rogers but I thought you’d all like the name of the cover version band).

I found the strings too close together for finger style, although if you look at pics/videos of 60s players they seemed to manage. It depends what you’re used to. As for Hofner strings - yuk.

Seems pointless changing the strings 🥴

You should try fretless and if your a 5 string player, it might be better to get a 5 fretless. If you can find one the now discontinued Spector Spectorcore is a great choice. Comes as 4 & 5 lined ebony board with either EMG or Bartolini pickup and a Fishman Piezo bridge. Or too expensive and high quality.

Harley Benton DB02 need ideas for a better stand.

The Stagg stand arrived today. Heavier than I expected but does the job for my NS NXT. The top arm extends a lot further than this if needed. -

Fast is a misnomer. Some necks feel more comfortable to ply on than others. I have a couple of “slim” which are great and one chunky which is fine but I did sand a bit of the gloss off of it as it did have a slightly “sticky” feel. It’s now much better and I’m equally comfortable playing that bass as the slimmer ones.

I hadn’t heard of Warman. Looked at website, no mention of Firebucker pickup. Looked for Black plate - $80 I don’t think so. I did have the idea of covering the plate with gold vinyl but then just took it off.

I have d’Addario flats on it now. I have used nylon tapes on another bass previously and it may be I will again.

You’re right about the colour match between the pickup and scratch plate. I’ve taken the plate off, looks better.

Sorry no idea. I bought it second hand and there’s no clue on the label. I think these were only made for a very limited period, no doubt under pressure to stop from Epiphone who has moved production to China. I have started a thread on Peerless but so far mine is the only one posted, why not stick yours on there too?

I had a sunburst 66 EB2D a while back, they really do have a sound of their own. Looking at the photos I think Scrumymike is incorrect, I can’t see a 2nd pickup and there are no controls for it. Mine had independent volume and tone for each pickup, so I think this is correctly an EB2 and the single pickup model seems to be more collectible.

I am pleased that the current management of Epiphone are recreating basses and guitars from their own past catalogues instead of imitations of the Gibson models and a couple of Hofners. Even though they were owned by Gibson since the dawn of time or at least Rock n roll time, they have a heritage of their own which is well worth recreation.
