  1. How to discover your inner Ventures for a song. GLWTS
  2. Glad you cleared that up. They are an iconic piece of bass history, the sound of the British Invasion (leaving aside Macca’s Hofner). Sadly I’m not playing enough these days to justify a £3k investment, but I do hope you find a good home for it soon.
  3. Venus in blue jeans - Mark Winter ( does anyone actually remember this? )
  4. Nah! It’s the thought of that battery going down mid set 👎
  5. Pump it up - Elvis Costello & the Attractions
  6. Final fling for a pension fund?
  7. Jamestown Rag - Garnett Lee
  8. Latest video on Dave’s World of Fun stuff has one with very sharp fret ends that appear not to have been finished at all after cutting to length. One would hope that’s just a one off glitch in the QC that missed it not a problem with all this edition. Presumably they use the same necks as on other MIM Jazzes? whoops, sorry BNT didn’t notice you’d already flagged this one.
  9. Rubber ball - Bobby Vee
  10. 7 seas of Rhye - Queen
  11. Bargain of the century, like JPJ I paid loads more than this for mine 2nd hand.
  12. These are really good, I use mine all the time. GLWTS
  13. No, I know it went to a good home and that you will make the most of it (I still like the P😁👍🏼)
  14. Mr. Sandman - The Chordettes
  15. Muleskinners Blues - The Fendermen (& Jimmy Rogers but I thought you’d all like the name of the cover version band).
  16. I found the strings too close together for finger style, although if you look at pics/videos of 60s players they seemed to manage. It depends what you’re used to. As for Hofner strings - yuk.
  17. Seems pointless changing the strings 🥴
  18. Super trooper Abba
  19. You should try fretless and if your a 5 string player, it might be better to get a 5 fretless. If you can find one the now discontinued Spector Spectorcore is a great choice. Comes as 4 & 5 lined ebony board with either EMG or Bartolini pickup and a Fishman Piezo bridge. Or too expensive and high quality.
  20. Shy me to the moon - Sinatra ( after a few bourbons)
  21. The Stagg stand arrived today. Heavier than I expected but does the job for my NS NXT. The top arm extends a lot further than this if needed.
  22. My old man’s a dustman - Lonnie Donnegan
  23. Fast is a misnomer. Some necks feel more comfortable to ply on than others. I have a couple of “slim” which are great and one chunky which is fine but I did sand a bit of the gloss off of it as it did have a slightly “sticky” feel. It’s now much better and I’m equally comfortable playing that bass as the slimmer ones.
  24. I hadn’t heard of Warman. Looked at website, no mention of Firebucker pickup. Looked for Black plate - $80 I don’t think so. I did have the idea of covering the plate with gold vinyl but then just took it off.
