I think that the spalted maple has been sanded down to the ash of the body. No big deal as the spalted maple is a thin veneer with no impact on the sound. But you can get an extra discount using this argument. 😉

Give the ESP a try if you can, that's worth all the money. And if you buy it second hand at a decent price, you'll always be able to sell it back without losing money.

Have you asked the community if someone nearby the seller could ship it to you ? I've done it a few times and it has always worked. That said the Harley Benton BZ 6000 NT you mentioned is a terrific bass for the money, except for the narrow strings spacing.
