1. Unless you're another chicken.
2. It does - you can pluck both of them ๐Ÿ™‚
3. Seasonal Greetings to All S-W Bashers from Scrumpymike and the Scrumpettes! Not long now until we meet again - preparations are well under way ๐Ÿ˜Š
4. New bass delivered on Christmas eve = proper Christmas day ๐Ÿ˜ƒ We await your verdict with interest (well I do anyway, and look forward to a try-out at the SW Bash on Sunday 5th April ๐Ÿ™‚)
5. Buy with confidence!
6. Could the new one be chambered?
7. Ooops, dug myself into a bit of a hole there! Must hastily point out that my Andyjr build in progress is also 'boring black', which should contrast nicely with the grey bag ๐Ÿ™‚
8. Gig bags suitable for short-scale basses aren't easy to find so I'm always on the lookout. Just bought a really nice TGI Extreme Protection padded bag from the independent guitar shop near my daughter's in Poole. The smaller one of the two they had on display is perfect for my headless, short-scale ACG Border Reiver and cost a reasonable ยฃ40. It's a good compromise between light weight, compact size and protection. Neat features are extra handle for carrying vertically, big back pocket to hold straps when not in use, internal velcro strap to secure top of neck, and different finish from (IMHO) boring black. Also impressive is that it still stands up against a wall when empty and unzipped. Just done a quick online search and the gear4music link below shows the closest I could find to mine, although this may be newer design as mine doesn't have the black webbing for the handles. Annoyingly, can't confirm size of this one either as they don't give dimensions. Equally annoyingly, they are out of stock (that's Xmas for you!!). I'll grab a shot of mine when I get a minute. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/TGI-Extreme-Series-Electric-Guitar-Gig-Bag/2WP7
9. Pre-Xmas bump - short scale so it's easier to get down your chimney ๐Ÿ™‚
10. That's a neat idea - like the simplicity. Only negative I can think of is that, assuming they just clip over the button on the outside of the strap, they won't stop a heavy bass from stretching the hole in the strap.
11. If you p*ssed in it that would be too good for him (or her???). Have a great Xmas and good luck with the op!!
12. +1!! Seems that you can buy the one-piece pins separately as you could with the old design. This means that, if you are swapping one strap between instruments - you only have to buy one complete set plus extra pins. I use and like the original Schallers but this is definitely an improvement in several respects.
13. Very nice in black with maple board and black markers - a bit like my AndyJr build in progress. http:// http://[/img]
14. Hope you do come to the Bash as I'd love a shot on that - as well as Stewie's HB of course ๐Ÿ˜‰
15. Obviously somebody cocked up there!
16. And look what I just found - me, the bass and its owner in action!! http://
17. Much to my own surprise, never owned one of these despite being a short-scale player. Doubly strange as I played one for a year or so a few years back and loved it. The singer/rhythm guitarist whose band it was found it in a skip and, being an accomplished wood-worker, was able to restore it. He insisted that I played it as he reckoned it was the nicest-sounding bass he'd ever heard. Couldn't really argue as it was perfect for what the band doing.
18. I think these look great in both colours!
19. That's brilliant Andy, love every bit of it ๐Ÿ‘ ... and a choice of contrasting scratch-plates too ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
20. Spot on Andy!
21. I have a feeling that the \\ to the bridge option would leave insufficient pearloid 'frame' bridge-side of the pickup - especially at the top corner. (Sorry readers, all this is getting a bit nerdy but, as the saying goes, "the devil is in the detail" ๐Ÿ™‚)
22. I'm thinking along those lines too. The way I see it, the long side of the cut-out in the pearloid plate needs to be a straight line that's parallel either with the bridge or with the slanted bridge pick-up. I guess the best thing would be to try the latter first. If that doesn't look right then there's still the option of cutting more plate away to get the former.
23. I know it's a bit academic as everything will be black but nice that the curves of the plate still work with the new body outline - even better than the original actually. Seeing your pic, if the original pearloid plate had matched the new bridge I'd have been tempted to re-use it and go for a bit of retro bling ๐Ÿ˜Ž
24. Agree with all of the above! Whenever possible I re-use the screw from the original button. If I have to use the screw supplied with the Schallers (usually because the head of the original is too big) and the hole in the bass is oversize, I plug it with a large (kebab-style) cocktail stick. Just dip the sharp end into wood glue, push firmly into hole, trim overhang off when set, and re-drill smaller hole.
25. Let's have another bump! Anybody going to treat themselves (and me ๐Ÿ™‚) to an early Xmas present?
