Sounds like a busy weekend - see you next year!

I use Alpine attenuating ear-plugs, or rather just one in my left ear that is drummer-side 😉. This works for me. I still keep the vibe and my right ear seems none the worse for being un-plugged. The Alpines I chose were bought for motorcycling but they also do music-specific ones that will presumably be better. I've stopped biking so I'll try those next time.

Back out treading the boards last night (yes, we actually had a stage!). It's been a month since our last gig on New Year's eve so a few amnesia-induced fumbles were expected - and duly delivered. At least I wasn't the only culprit. Good gig though with a decent venue on the water's edge and a good crowd who were more than up for it. Come half-time, the stunning young lady who's been dancing energetically in front of the stage unexpectedly sidles up for a chat. "That bass is beautiful and I love your sound! I'm a bass player myself - a bad one though. I really LOVE the bass - tonight I'm here just for you." This is the point where back in the day I would have thought my luck had surely changed, but last night a quick reality check reminded me that a) she had been dancing with her boyfriend and b) I was old enough to be her grandad (and may even be 😉). However, this mattered not one jot, and the spring I have in my step today will be with me for some time. OK, the three encores were a factor too.

Obviously can't judge scale from the pic's but the row of knobs on the Fusion S looks pretty tightly packed in - especially if they're like my MB Fusion 800, which turn if you sneeze in their general direction.

If they are anything like the plastic knobs on my MB Fusion 800 you can add 'slack' to 'wiggly'. When you turn them there's no resistance whatsoever to the point of feeling disconnected. These controls belong on something cheap and nasty - GK stuff certainly ain't cheap and is otherwise not nasty.

Just had a look on line - amazing piece of kit although price appears to be around £40. How giggable is it?

I have a Fusion 800 (not the S) and a Subway 800+. Apart from the occasional tweak to suit the venue, both give me the gig sound I'm after with EQ knobs at 12 o'clock and the Mesa hi-boost switch pretty much always on (through 2 x BF SC Gen 3 cab's btw).

And looks so cooool 😎

As a retired marketing guy and Mesa fan, here's my tuppence-worth. There's an old marketing adage that says the 'right' price for any product is the highest price each market will pay for it. While that may at first sound glib, there's a lot in there when you start digging. I once went to a marketing seminar presented by the UK Marketing Director of BMW cars. His opening remark was: "People often tell me my cars are expensive. That's not true - they are EXTREMELY expensive!" Needless to say, he delivered these remarks with a self-satisfied smile and a wink. Everybody in the audience got it. So, the only question that Mesa need to ask themselves is: Is our UK pricing policy reducing our sales to an unacceptably low level? If the answer is 'no', they've got it right. If the answer is 'yes', they've got it wrong.
