1. Class act Andy, just like my Rascal Mervyn-Lyte Mkl. One of the things that deeply impressed me, and impresses others, about the Gillett Contour basses is the 3 dinky little machine screws with inserts that hold the truss-rod cover in place. As with the Wal, these details really give the impression of quality. Just go steady with my invoice though 😉
2. My G75 arrives tomorrow. Question for those who already have one: not quite sure what the standard fixing arrangement is for the transmitter but is it good enough or should be thinking about getting a separate holster?
3. Nice one Muzz, I can relate to all of that. As you say, the trick is knowing when it's time to "pack up and feck off" 🙂
4. Thanks to all for info, just ordered a G75 for £159 from Andertons 👍
5. Good stuff Andy, I'm really chuffed with the way this is turning out - and a Happy New Year to you too!
6. ... or me to my Linear AC30! It lived in a metal cage and administered mild electric shocks to the unwary.
7. A good gig has always been my favourite way of seeing the New Year in, and that's exactly what I did last night with my 3 band-mates in Silverback. The venue was one of our fave's, Kildare Lodge in Minehead. The landlord and landlady are good people who love our classic rock set, the money was decent, and we had a good crowd who were all up for it. The sound was good and tight, the craic was right, and after Auld Lang Syne followed by several encores, the landlord insisted we play his favourite Whiskey In The Jar again!! With around two-and-a-half hours of 2020 on the clock, I hit the sack a happy man thinking (not for the first and hopefully not the last time): "Money just can't buy this much fun!!" 😊
8. That's a fine collection. Love the way you've displayed them as works of art - which is exactly what they are.
9. I see the AP has thru-body stringing. Does that need medium-scale strings?
10. This really is an amazing sale but my compact, lightweight Subway 800+ is probably the only Mesa amp I'll be needing. If I could wind the clock back, I'd be up for that Carbine 900!
11. Back in the day when most were lusting after Fenders it was always the short-scale basses that floated my boat thanks to the influence of Macca, Bruce and Fraser. Over the years I've had other stuff but always come back to the 30" scale that I'm more comfortable with. Pleased to say there's never been a better choice of s-s basses than you can find nowadays including many at very affordable prices. The Mustang is the best s-s bass I've NEVER owned - yours is a beauty.
12. Unless you're another chicken.
13. It does - you can pluck both of them 🙂
14. Seasonal Greetings to All S-W Bashers from Scrumpymike and the Scrumpettes! Not long now until we meet again - preparations are well under way 😊
15. New bass delivered on Christmas eve = proper Christmas day 😃 We await your verdict with interest (well I do anyway, and look forward to a try-out at the SW Bash on Sunday 5th April 🙂)
16. Buy with confidence!
17. Could the new one be chambered?
18. Ooops, dug myself into a bit of a hole there! Must hastily point out that my Andyjr build in progress is also 'boring black', which should contrast nicely with the grey bag 🙂
19. Gig bags suitable for short-scale basses aren't easy to find so I'm always on the lookout. Just bought a really nice TGI Extreme Protection padded bag from the independent guitar shop near my daughter's in Poole. The smaller one of the two they had on display is perfect for my headless, short-scale ACG Border Reiver and cost a reasonable £40. It's a good compromise between light weight, compact size and protection. Neat features are extra handle for carrying vertically, big back pocket to hold straps when not in use, internal velcro strap to secure top of neck, and different finish from (IMHO) boring black. Also impressive is that it still stands up against a wall when empty and unzipped. Just done a quick online search and the gear4music link below shows the closest I could find to mine, although this may be newer design as mine doesn't have the black webbing for the handles. Annoyingly, can't confirm size of this one either as they don't give dimensions. Equally annoyingly, they are out of stock (that's Xmas for you!!). I'll grab a shot of mine when I get a minute. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/TGI-Extreme-Series-Electric-Guitar-Gig-Bag/2WP7
20. Pre-Xmas bump - short scale so it's easier to get down your chimney 🙂
21. That's a neat idea - like the simplicity. Only negative I can think of is that, assuming they just clip over the button on the outside of the strap, they won't stop a heavy bass from stretching the hole in the strap.
22. If you p*ssed in it that would be too good for him (or her???). Have a great Xmas and good luck with the op!!
23. +1!! Seems that you can buy the one-piece pins separately as you could with the old design. This means that, if you are swapping one strap between instruments - you only have to buy one complete set plus extra pins. I use and like the original Schallers but this is definitely an improvement in several respects.
24. Very nice in black with maple board and black markers - a bit like my AndyJr build in progress. http:// http://[/img]
25. Hope you do come to the Bash as I'd love a shot on that - as well as Stewie's HB of course 😉
