1. Thanks - sounds like I got the pricing right. Comes with a serviceable but imperfect hard case.
2. No trades please 2001 US jazz standard apart from bridge cover. Very good condition with just a few small dings on the side edge of the headstock. See below. Bass is in beeston, Nottingham. Minor shallow ding on board around fret 8 but only visible from an acute angle 2. Action now low Final price - shipping by ups at cost Thanks
3. Yes i keep trying jazz basses but always end up reaching for my bass doc precision
4. Things are a bit depressed for sure - I rarely ask more than I paid unless I've added some value. I can't see why sellers would be upset by a lowball offer, it doesn't take long to PM a polite version of "get stuffed" if the offer doesn't appeal
5. Fretting work and weedy pickups are the common bugbears I thought
6. I tried it briefly but didnt like the neck on the fiver I chose (Ibanez SRX505) as it had wide spacing and it all became a bit of a chore.Tone, tension etc were fine. I might try it again one day but I'll be a lot more choosy about exactly which bass I try it with.
7. I think an earlier poster said it all, youve outgrown it when you realise that it has limitations, and that they are limiting you. If you havent noticed yet, then you dont need anything better (although you might want it) My P bass is the best thing since sliced bread in my book, and I cannot find a single flaw on it. Doesnt mean there arent any, just that they dont limit me if there are any there.
8. Good trade with no issues at all
9. Cheers mr, you were fine to deal with and I'm glad you're happy
10.
So nobody listened to Mud, Bay City Rollers or David Cassidy...
Not me -before my time. Mother liked abba but we didn't have a stereo, just a radio that I couldn't reach and it was always stuck on radio 4. I grew up in a remote part of the middle of nowhere Eventually I saved up some money and bought a small portable radio and listened to talking heads, U2, simple minds and Duran Duran. Watching live aid in 1985 was formative though as watching Bono go off into the crowd made me realise music wasn't set in stone once recorded (I had only ever heard it on the radio remember) and could be adapted on the hoof.
11.
Completely well is now pumping out courtesy of spotify. Geek99 is this the book? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Famous-Blues-Bass-Lines-QWIKGUIDE/dp/0786648325/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394446319&sr=8-1&keywords=famous+blues+bass
Yep - that's the one I found it quite inspiring and not a bank breaker either. Also recommend Jon liebmans book and the Ed friedland one
12. Amazon do a Mel bay "famous blues bass" book and cd which really helped me
13. I had the white one and that was brilliant evenwith std pickups
14. I used cheapie spring loaded ones from eBay
15.
To the best of my knowledge, a '74 P bass hasn't got a preamp, only the passive standard circuit.
Yep It may be a 74 body but the preamp has been added
16. I had wrist surgery for cts, which took 20 mins. Small amounts of physio Consider acupuncture
17. Ok fair enough, Mr Vader Have a "nice bass" bump
18. I swapped bridges and didn't notice any difference besides ease of use and adjustment
19. Use much longer screws ? It can't be THAT soft that a deeper mounted screw won't sidestep the issue
20. I like relic so think this is nice but why the relic work around the top of the scratch plate? Surely most users would rub the paint away in one or two spots ?
