I recently bought a bass with gaps under the e that you could park a bus in. Seller liked it like that and it took about five turns to get it back to action that was even remotely sensible. Jameson didn't do too badly with high action though, did he ?

Consider the VM precision. - there is a natural version. I don't have huge hands and I was fine with those (mine was white)

I had the HS4, which is roughly the same as the Legend series. Nice pickups, good electronics, very slim neck indeed and it never went out of tune. Bridge easy to restring as the strings are caught by the bridge, not threaded through like a Fender. Good range of tones. It was very nice indeed and good value, but wasnt quite right for me.Too traditional in my taste perhaps.

If you can afford it, consider the classic 50s/60s/70s series. Been very impressed every time I've tried one of those.

I had an HS4 and it was very nice - flamed maple top and good electronics

[/quote] I have a 1992 mex jazz and it's fine - I know there are some dogs. I have never played a bad US but I have seen the mex output really up its game in the last few years. I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with one.

It didn't slip my mind at all, Mr G Sunburst, which I like , (genuine) relic looks, which I like, Will I like it once I've got it playing right instead of like a Jameson-reject ? Don't know but It's a contender, that much is sure

I discovered that a simple precision was all I needed. I do fancy a jazz bass but haven't found one yet that I really like Edit: there was a jap 75 reissue I regret letting go

no, it says "For fender" on it. - so dont think it was made by Fender themselves. Do recall a story that early basses were resprayed by the importers and put in locally produced "licenced" cases before distribution. I read it on here. Seems to be made of fibreboard or very heavy cardboard.

I think it was actually to mimic the fingerbvaord radius. I looked at my p bass and all the saddles are virtually in a line, so all strings amost exactly the same length. I havent changed it since the bass doc set it up. I think though that if I move the jazz's saddles very much that although the action will change and become lower it will go out of intonation The screws are definitely at a more extreme angle than my precision
