A US Spector for just a few quid more (less in some cases!) than a Euro. It would be hard to lose on this one (I think)

Absolutely unbelievable price (IMO) - I'm selling a US Spector Shorty on here and thought that it was the best value bass on the site. I have to admit though, it won't be until this sells. I'm genuinely stunned that this is still here

Thanks Paulhauser, absolutely right - I hadn't really bothered to check the electronics, I just got on with using the bass. I had a good look last night and as indicated, the EMGs are active but with a tap (a very useful one too!) The OBP3 can't be disengaged. I played around last night and the range of very usable tones is really impressive. The bridge pickup in single coil with some mid boost at 400Hz produces a very passable and very pokey and burpy J tone. I've corrected my original post too - the nut width is 1.61" (I learned a lot about this bass yesterday - some very helpful comments and a bit of reading!)

Thanks very much Mike, Mikkel (and to those that have pm'd) - this really is a stunning bass and my photographs don't do any justice to the finish. I'm trying to get some better photographs but waiting for decent light (in Manchester...) Just to confirm, I'm not looking for any trades on this thanks (sorry, but thanks for some lovely offers!). The only bass that might be of trade interest is a high-end Alembic short-scale (sig or series I or II) - with cash from my end obviously. In response to enquiries: Weight - very light at 7.8lbs - balance and ergonomics (this has the Spector contoured body) imply that it's a breeze to wear and play for extended periods. Case - this comes with an 'as new' Spector Classic hard case. I think it's a full-size case for standard US NS models, rather than something shorter and designed specifically for the Shorty - consequently, there's a very snug fit for body, neck and head and plenty of room in the internal compartment and above the headstock. Locks etc. are gold and the case bears the Spector logo in gold. I really do need better images. In all, a stunning package at a bargain price (IMO of course)

An unusual and very attractive bass (to me at least) - 'good to see something out of the ordinary. Some inspiration from Alembic (and other small-scale builders) but a unique take - the body is not unlike an Essence. Somebody must know more. Quality of parts and construction appears to be very good. If I wasn't 300 miles away, I'd be very interested in examining further. Good luck with the sale

Apologies, this bass is now withdrawn from sale An absolutely outstanding Spector Shorty in trans black satin stain over quilt maple. Cosmetically, functionally and electronically perfect - no dents, dings, dongs or scratches. Realistically, the bass could easily pass for new. Set-up last week with a ridiculously low action (I play with a very light touch) and re-strung with D'Addario 40-95 gauge nickel rounds. The tone is pure Spector - fat, with a big mid roar - the bass has EMG 35TW humbuckers (single/dual selectable on pull pots) and an Aguilar OBP circuit with selectable mid points. The bass is extremely hot though extremely versatile. Playability is outstanding - really good fun, beautiful balance and ergonomics - the bass is hard to put down. Why am I selling? Time for playing has reached critically constrained levels and when I do play, it's my Status Streamline (even smaller than the Spector and out if it's bag - the Spector is protected in its case). Body 4A Quilt Maple over dark US walnut - lovely figuring - trans black satin stain over the quilt Neck - 3 piece rock maple bolt-on (5 bolt), again with some lovely figuring. Graphite reinforced. Pau Ferro fingerboard with 16" radius and 1.61" nut Pickups - EMG 35TW with single coil/dual coil switching Circuit - Aguilar OBP3: bass, treble, mid (with push/pull frequency select) Original Spector NS curved body style 30 3/8" scale, 22 frets, Deep Socket Neck Black Hardware, Custom Hipshot A style Brass Bridge Gotoh GB70 Tuners Dunlop dual Straplocks (pins only) Serial: Spector Shorty #23 Weight: 7.8lbs - light but solid and beautifully balanced. I haven't gigged or rehearsed this bass - the condition is genuinely excellent. It comes with the original Spector hard case - again, this could easily pass for new. Price is £1250 (firm - a bit of a bargain really - look around, and there are very few of these globally, let alone in Europe or the UK). No trades thanks - I'm really not looking for more basses.
