1. I don't have scales to weight it I'm afriad (except the kitchen variety!) but a quick google search tells me that for a new Standard or American Standard Fender Precision 4-string variety, the weight will be between 8.5 to 9.5lbs (3.9 to 4.3kg).
2. @Adonbass Cheers mate for the comments. It really is a great bass - I started on a cheap Fender Precision copy many years ago (a Tanglewood) so this has always been my idea of a 'pure' classic rock bass so was an ambition of mine to own one. Just really does the job.
3. Hiya, I have readily available a whole host of bass and guitar magazines. They range in date from the summer of 1990 to well into 1994 (I think!). Those titles taking up space include (deep breath)... Bassist Bass Player (including issue number two) Guitarist Guitar Player Guitar World (the bulk of my collection) Guitar for the Practicing Musician (plenty of these too) The Guitar Magazine Guitar School and Guitar Extra Simply having a clear out as moving house soon. Admittedly in a range of conditions from 'well worn and battered' to 'very good'. All of them are perfectly readable and contain some cracking articles, lessons and tabs. Also, because of their age, include some nice interviews with artists who are no longer with us! Also because of size and weight only really available for someone to collect. Cheers, Andrew
4. I think what we really should be discussing is who is the sexiest...it is the only true way to measure one bass player against another!
5. Cheers for this guys - alot of helpful suggestions! Got a little bit of money burning a hole in my pocket so no worried about spending a bit of cash on something. A.
6. Hiya all, First post and immediately seeking advice! Have recently joined two bands - one that uses standard tuning and another that requires down tuning to a low B (to perform old school, big riffage metal). Currently only got the one bass (EB MM 'Ray) which can cope with the low tuning after a lengthy setup quite handsomely but really rather have this bass tuned in standard to perform all the funky in-ya-face type stuff for the other band. Obviously using the same bass for both bands is a nightmare due to having to change the setup and have never got on with any 5-string (awkward, I know). So looking to go to a BEAD tuning and buy another bass to fill this requirement - any suggestions? Any advice in general?? Was kinda thinking about a Fender P - or am I completely off the mark with that idea??
7. Hi there, Very interested in one the above mentioned P basses. Cant wait for the pictures. I am based (no pun intended) on the Surrey/Sussex border so hopefully not too far and able to come and collect if needs be. Looking to buy rather than trade.
