Funny that, I bought a lovely Thunderbird 2015 model with the Babicz bridge etc. It looked killer and sounded pretty good too, but I ended up only using my Mike Lull Jazz at gigs so the T-Bird just sat there not getting played, so I sold it on evilbay to a bloke who bought it because he'd "always wanted a T-bird".

Your experiences of playing in a tribute band.
ricksterphil replied to Grassie's topic in General Discussion
I play in a Bowie Tribute with a female on lead vocals. We got to play at the Supersonic Club in Paris at the end of Jan! I love it and there's such a wealth of material to go at, with many of the songs having really good bass lines, it will be a long time before we get bored. We're playing a David Bowie Convention on 11th May in Derby, with the Maggie Ronson band and Jean Genie as the headliners -

Hell Is Other People (who know you play in a band)

As mentioned, a bit poppy for me but the singer has an excellent voice and the song is memorable. Good luck with it and enjoy! I for one would be fascinated by a gig diary.....living life vicariously is, after all, living! It will keep my spirits up when we're loading PA into the van behind the Dog and Duck at 1.00 am in the morning! -
Not everything about the bass is great .....

Fed up of Sex On Fire? play this instead 😂 -
Sometime in 73 I think, Little Hereford Village Hall in ..er Little Hereford (which is not far from slightly bigger Hereford). Can't remember what guitar I played (I think I borrowed one) or what amp. We had 3 songs, no vocals and played support to a local rock band (who were pretty good I seem to remember). The audience danced and clapped at the end....what more could you ask? This is us a couple of years later playing The Angel Hotel in Ludlow. I'm playing my pre Gibson Epiphone through a Matamp head & 2 Marshall 4x12's. Can't for the life of me remember what we called the band tho 😂

WTF!! It is getting up to 50 years old now tho! "Can we have everything louder than everything else" ...classic (ok it's off Made in Japan I know but still...) loved a bit (a lot) of Purple when I was a callow youth! -
We're playing the Supersonic Club in Paris on 27th Jan at Convention Bowie France 2019. Capacity is 300 which will make it our biggest gig to date.

I've used Gear4Music, Fairdeal in birmingham, GAK, dv247 and eBay quite a bit and never had any issues (just lucky I guess) I also use CPC Farnell for PA stuff - they can be very cheap and delivery is usually next day and free if you spend more than a fiver https://cpc.farnell.com/c/audio-visual/professional-sound-lighting

I thought the band were right on it and I very much enjoyed Bedders playing. Also, good intel on the bass.... Suggs is not a great vocalist but he doesn't need to be and is a good frontman

"Gig Foot"..Too old for this *%$@
ricksterphil replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
I'm ok-ish the day after but on the rare occasion we gig on consecutive nights I'm totally fooked the day after the second one. I don't mind at all, especially after the gigs that go really well....last night was one of those, we've just added Under Pressure to the set (we're a Bowie trib band) and when I started the famous bass line, the crowd went nuts. We nailed the song, the crowd were singing along...briliant...almost an out of body experience! Something to remember at 1 in the morning loading gear after a 'so-so' gig with a 2 hour drive home I'll be 16 next birthday....oops, I mean 61 -
David Hall - DHA Pedals I found a post on another forum that David Hall of DHA pedals fame passed away in August after suffering a heart attack RIP David. I once messaged him through eBay about suitable power supplies for one of his pedals and he responded very promptly with a link to the supplier he uses. Not much I know in the grand pantheon of things but it left a good impression!
