1. I use s/h monster cables bought of of fleabay. Didn't know about the slightly large jack thing tho....hmmn On a separate but related note, there was an ampeg head and cab on fleabay about a yr ago. The seller had replaced all the internal speaker and main amp internal cable with heavier duty wire which he claimed improved the sound - his point being that it's all very well spending gadzillions on premium gear but the bits of wire inside the speaker and amp are typically cheapest thin bit of wire, so by replacing same with heavier duty stuff, vastly improved the sound. No idea if he was right as I din't buy the amp and cab he had for sale....but it seemed logical Captain!

5. About an hour but then we're still fairly new as a band so haven't settled into a routine yet. Did a gig on Sunday night, all set to go when the pedal came off the bass drum and it took 30 minutes of fiddling to re-mount it (electronic kit - it's a very small venue). Some good-natured bantering from the audience ensued and when the pedal was finally fixed we launched into it and the gig went down a storm thankfully.
6. Buy the best quality speakers you can afford - RCF or Electrovoice would be my choice. Avoid Peavey gear...always sounds muddy to me.
7.
I like whatever the song's called they're plugging on the radio at the moment. A clever mix of Plastic Bertrand's 'Ça Plane pour Moi' and Ricky Martin's 'She Bangs'. And people will still buy it.
C'est magnifique!
8. This or black or anything except white shirts, black waistcoats and pencil-thin red leather ties
9. Thank you thank you for saving me for springing for this lovely bass........
10.
I remember when all this was trees. And you could leave your front door open. Is it time for my nap yet?
12. Fender rumble head for sale.......collect only from Milton Keynes police! http://ebay.eu/2zl0g6S
13. Best Mike Lull Custom M4V.......I knew it would be good but I have to say it's exceptional and the range of tones available is also right up there Worst Sire Marcus Miller v7 5 string....fab guitar, but I could not get on with the neck of a 5 string...I only had it 2 weeks before moving it on (thanks to Basschat)
14. Given the sort of stuff he plays I would have thought the SWB would be set up for jazz/funk/slap tones rather than rock....just guessing
15. Our drummer auditioned for a band and thought he'd got it. They then told him the drummer who had left had re-joined....shall I tell him that it was probably an 'ickle white lie?
16. Anyone come across Hurricane basses by Morris? Appear to be MIJ in the 70's
17. Excellent, not my bag but you can't fault the standard of musicianship and level of technical ability
18.
Some of the most talented Musicians are not the kind of people you would want to be in a band with. You will hear many pros say; "We never look for the best musicians, we look for the best people" Blue
True. Best drummer I ever jammed with was a very arrogant (and confident) guy! He was a jazz drummer and was really very very good, fitting exactly with what we were playing, but adding to the sound mix beautifully. He and our guitarist/songwriter/leader clashed so it was never going to work and he left. Before doing so we had a last jam with me, him and our lead guitarist (the band leader was absent) - we did a session just jamming as a blues trio and it was great - he made us sound great and he suggested we form a blues trio without the other guy. We turned him down but I often wonder what would have happened had we not done so...
19. I messaged the guy and he's getting some more in next week....be interesting to see what he lists them at. If they are no too much cash I just know I'm gonna spring for one...I'm going to question him about packaging tho
20.
you'll still get sack... only after the gig when the band is at home
You've heard the rumours then....!!
21.
The guitarist in my present band was once threatened with decapitation by a drummer he sacked. The same drummer ended up in my band and felt that I was sabotaging him. He really did have deep seated, psychological, problems, including psychotic delusions of persecution, for which he was taking medication. In the end he was sacked, onstage, in the middle of a gig. Not the most diplomatic way of doing things. Luckily he didn't kill us all. You never know who you are dealing with. Better safe than sorry. Being nice doesn't cost anything.
Sacked in the middle of a gig.......that's hardcore! Best defence against getting sacked....own the PA and drive a large comfortable van!....or so I'm told...I've never been sacked from a band cos I'm awesome and perfect
