1. As a bassist I subscribe to basschat, but like other members I also play other instruments, in my case cornet in a brass band. My band, located in east Kent currently has a vacancy for a kit drummer/percussionist. For this role you would need some drum/percussion sheet music reading capability, but with full support for an improver. We do have our own kit plus other percussion paraphernalia, including a pair of timps and a gong (tamtam). We rehearse once a week with a full band in our own hall. It's a fun band with probably 20+ gigs a year. Whatever genre you are used to playing, or standard you may be, and are interested, please contact myself. Or should you know of anyone who may be interested, please pass the word on. Cheers
2. Hi Tom, Just discovered this treasure trove of goodies. As a reader, 'right up my strasse'. All the stuff I love too. Great for playalongs, and performing too. Thanks for giving access. So generous of you.
3. What an opportunity? Do it! I've just retired (from work). If only something like this had been available when I was choosing a career 50 years back. Then, it was the exclusive royal academy or a military musician career. Nothing in between or as broad as what you can do. Go for it !!
4. Suddenly my wife is interested in Basschat, for the first time!!
5. Hi Nick, if you were able to arrange courier pick-up from me at your expense, then I'd box up as best I can. Remember it weighs 32lbs. Thanks for your interest.

7. The Polytune app on my iPhone handles the B string well. Obviously acoustically.
8. Hello all you Vigier Bass owners. I have a Vigier Passion 5C with the strap button underneath the top horn. How have you managed the strap attachment without the strap slipping to the back if you route it over the end of the horn? I’d be interested to know. I resorted to a custom made strap. I have a leather loop about 100mm long x 35mm wide, stitched to the main strap, with two holes punched in it for the button, giving a choice for best angle and balance. Not perfect, but best I could think of. Just means I can’t change straps easily.
9. I bought one a year ago, from Bass Direct, who were most helpful and obliging pricewise. Mainly home use, but to give you some idea of its capability, it can hold its own in a small (12-15) piece swing band, providing the drummer is absent. Once the drummer is included then I have to pull out my SWR Workingman’s 10, but would strongly recommend the 801 you won’t be disappointed.
10. All credit to Bass Guitar Magazine for a brilliant day & atmosphere. Was there the full day and took in all the main stage shows and three of the master classes then topped off with the Jaco film. Gonna nominate Robert Trujillo for an Oscar.
