With the worldwide presence they no doubt have, especially in Europe, I think it would be a really good idea.

I'm with Chris B on this. I assume they are the biggest bass specialist in the UK? The most well known? I am not entirely sure. When you have shops like Andertons releasing very very informative guitar/amp/effects (drums as well) and now a weekly bass video, and very basic home recorded musicians doing a similar (albeit lower budget) versions, it really shows when you see the BD videos. My input would be: 1. Perhaps employ a really solid player (no offences to the guys who do it now - they can play but it takes more than that) who is not worried about talking on camera to go through a huge amount of stock over a weekend and record it. Talking about the basses is much better than the text appearing. Add some flair and personality to it. Some passion. 2. Less slap. We do need to hear slap, I agree, but less of it. More standard fingerstyle rock playing, pick playing, blues playing. Less jazz. If a player can't play indie/rock with a pick, don't let them try, it is VERY obvious. A lot of the market is rock/blues/indie players. 3. Use one quite clear and clean amp and say what amp it is. Explain the EQ. Explain the cabs. Are we hearing DI only or a mix? 4. Use a set of well known effects for each video an stick to the set. Just basics. E.g. this is the bass with some drive on it, the bass with a little compression and EQ. 5. Price of the bass, what it comes with, what we get for our money, what it is build from, why it is such a good instrument. Comparisons in tone, feel, what do the controls do, weight, etc. Any options? Can we order in? 6. Amp and cab videos - a must. 7. Effects pedals. Drive pedal shootout? Delay shootout? What are the differences? Hundreds to show off and sell! Use a simple P bass/J Bass/Stingray with rounds...nothing too odd. 8, Allow comments as some will be positive and some will be negative. Sometimes you can learn a lot from negative comments. It needs some flair and fun. Plus, the intro music (might not be on the latest ones) has to go. The current generation of 15-40+ year old plus musicians rely on Youtube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for a lot of their communication with companies.

Ah I think I really need to seriously consider one of these. The problem is the amount of options is baffling!

That is a seriously nice piece of history. If I was ever to have a huge influx of money, I would be a vintage guitar and bass collector, but the recent price jumps on this suggests that someone or a number of people have just tried to make a quick bit of cash very quickly.

I miss Frusciante. Perfect backing vocals and super melodic and tasteful solos are his forte.

'Burn the Witch' is slowly becoming addictive. Today, I've listened to it at least 6 times during morning tram and lunch.

Looks like it has gone back up (the white one anyway). It was more than likely one off prices for the last one or teo before new stock.....missed it!

I have been extremely lucky not to do any proper damage to my ears and I am thankful for it. About 10 years back I decided I had to wear some ear protection, no matter how crap or cheap, at every live gig and rehearsal. Even bands I go to see when I'm not near the front. I've been in a band with a guy who clearly had caused some damage to his ears judging by his guitar tone and volume. A 4x12 Orange and a JCM2000 can create serious serious volume, and he had it loud in rehearsals, to the point that at one time, I almost fell over as the volume was so much that I lost my balance and thought I was going to faint. I had ear protection in so I assume it was low frequencies from the cab which was shaking the room. Recent tests have said my hearing is basically perfect, so I am extremely lucky. I hope it stays that way. Just protect protect protect at all times, even if you may have already damaged your hearing. I hope you get to the bottom of it.

Always wanted to try one of these beasts!

Aye I'm close. Selling a cab and ALWAYS wanted one of these....purely because I now cross over into bass/guitar playing land, and the current band is leaning toward a 90s melodic shoegaze type of thing. Perfect timing.

Musicman new Cutlass and Caprice, someone's got a video of them

I briefly owned a Gamechanger. Had it been in a colour I liked and been a 5er, I would have kept it. It sounded absolutely amazing, and the body shape was fabulous. It hasn't taken off though. Shame....the Bongo eventually did and still proves popular now. -

Unfortunately these are coming out at over £1600. Considering I bought a Classic 5 Ray/Big Al 5 SSS in upgraded colours for around that, it just seems too high for the UK market. A shame, because I'd really like one. -
Hmmm...I've wanted one for ages! How are these as a company for deliveries? Good to deal with?

'The Bends' and 'OK Computer' are simply stunning. I need to spend more time listening to their later output, but I really liked 'Kid A'. They are extremely original, and quite dark/mysterious, which is interesting in a rather bland and over saturated market.

Unfortunately, I can't see that happening. The quietest band I've been in was a 3 piece covers band, with the singer playing electro-acoustic (most of the time). I'm afraid my days of yearning a loud drummer and thrashing about are yet to pass....still trying to do it and probably won't learn (although I do wear ear protection).

The AD200b Mk3 is not being sold. Despite it's huge weight, I would regret not having such a tone monster capable of excessive volume. The 4x10 has gone. I was going to keep the 1x15 but I have no plans on using it, and I'll use my DB212 with the Orange amp, so the 1x15 is now on hold locally. It has made a huge amount of space free, but I'm pretty certain now that I'll just see how things go. If I were to buy any bass related cabs now, I think I'd go as small and as light as possible (modular).

I highly recommend just playing and enjoying it. I have barely ever had any guitar based lessons; I just learn myself and see what 'sounds' good and what bands I like use for chord progressions and riffs. I don't take my guitar playing as serious but I love it. I barely practice bass at home now because I know there is more time required for guitar. I tend to prefer guitar anti-heroes like Cobain and Coxon. Both great on guitar and very individual but not flashy. The best 'technical' but still melodic player will always be Frusciante for me; his leads just WORK. No faff, no shred, just a cranked amp, cool pedals and a Strat (in most of the RHCP anyway). I'd opt for a Tele/Strat copy (even try save for a decent Squier Classic Vibe or get one second hand). A Tele is much more 'simple'...no faff. Other options include a MIM Tele 'Baja' model. You would basically never need to upgrade it or sell it...just use it for years. Custom shops pickups, amazing aesthetics, very well made. I picked up an Epiphone 'Inspired by J Lennon' Casino in sunburst when they had a load on sale due to the model being discontinued. It is stunning to play. Very light, very easy to play chords, can play without an amp, and it has proper Gibson P90s in it. I've gone way over your budget but I think it's easier and more fun to learn on a better quality instrument.

Nice. I highly recommend all bass players get a guitar to just play on and learn new tricks. I've been on 6 string for a few years now and I'm slowly getting more and more confident. It's also very very satisfying to create riffs/parts of songs, and to be able to tell band members you can play TWO instruments. Anyway giving bass a hard time? Just say you can play both, but find bass is more your thing!

I'd love to be able to even just rehearse with a 1x10! Jealous.

A few posts have already discussed, but to be fairly simple about it, try not to buy a cabinet with a fairly scooped out low mid range as part of the voicing of the cabinet. I haven't personally ever played a 2x12 with that low mid/hi bass scooped out, so it might be quite a common goal to make sure that area is defined well. I have a Genz NX212T and an Aguilar DB212 (my favourite bass cabinet I've ever heard/used) and they are both low mid kickers. Plus the fact I tend to goose the low mids anyway, and have some basses that are quite low mid orientated, I get a huge kick of that volume where it really counts, instead of it being huge flabby bass. Even with a 5 string, I get a tight, defined and punchy B. I let the PA do the more bass/low bass orientated work.

Nice! Not sure I want a Jazz neck...but I still like it.

They are stunning to look at. I'd say they are one of the coolest guitar shapes I've ever seen, but I really can't gel with Rics....YET.

If it was a 18 months or so back I would have 100% recommended the Genz Benz NX2 212T (the latest version they did before the company essential move on and Mr Genzler started Genzler amplification). Why? Because a few retailers sold the last of these lightweight, punchy well regarded cabs for about £450 brand new, sealed. Almost half price. I'd still look at Genz, Genzler, Berg or the other suggestions above.
