I thought new Oranges were put in boxes in the UK but the internals were made in China, except for the initial run.
I emailed Orange when I was after an amp and I hadnt decided. Parts from most amps in the world are from all over the place, but apparently its all constructed, made and put together in the UK. I also compared, (guitar wise) their PPC212CB with the Chinese PPC212OB....massive difference. Not only bigger and better made, with thicker wood (which, after testing other guitar brands with a mate, definitely makes a difference) but also they had top notch 100% construction and tolex covering.
low level? haha
Yeah...as in if you want a really nice grit but not as high levels every time. Like at home etc. Or quiter practicing. Most the time though...crank it.
If you say so I've seen the NV series next to the AE series and for me the AE has it on looks as well. My photography skills are, limited, at best, so dont try and compare anything from the photos I've taken
Ah, I agree the AE spray finish is great, very professional...but the NV610 with the Orange looks stunning...what a brilliant combination. The Matamp also looks great! I love micro amps and small cabs, but they just dont look as visually stunning as a proper tube amp with a good cabinet. I am also a little bit weird as I just never liked racked gear, but I can see why people do use them.
This is the reason Im swaying towards the Orange (need to check out the matamp stuff), DIRT at a decent level, do you think it would pair ok with my SVT410HLF, I don't really want to have to shell out for a new cab!
I think most the amps listed will be fine with it. But....you may end up gassing for Orange/Aguilar/Matamp/Berg NV cabs after a few months....its like a disease once you start hahaha.

Lakland 5 String - Darryl Jones v.s. Joe Osborn
Musicman20 replied to bigevilman's topic in Bass Guitars
Recently tried both of the newer models. Same sound pretty much, the DJ has the blocks/binding/smaller body/modern paint whereas the JO is a classic Jazz with normal colours. Both great. -
I've wanted one for ages but have always shied away from the weight. Yes it's big and heavy but the tone is awesome! The castors really make a big difference.

This NV610 was mine for a while. Amazing sound ..... ..... but the size and weight proved too much.
These two win on looks. If I had room I would have both. I dont have a car big enough for either

Orange or Matamp. Forget the VR if you want nice low level volume tube grit. I tested a CL with the Orange AD200b Mk3 instore...with the Ampeg through an 8x10 and the Orange through its own Orange cabs. Orange won by miles. Simply different and totally brilliant. Simple, awesome tube grit, stunning to look at. All IMO of course. If you want low level volume full on dirt, look at Orange or Matamp. Both are UK made, and IMO, much nicer boutique amps. Dont even worry about the wattage difference.

Help me find an extension cab for my tecamp combo
Musicman20 replied to wotnwhy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I think another Tecamp 1x12 would be best. Brilliant mini stack. Email Tecamp and ask when the UK are getting a new dealer. -
Clean clear mid scooped punch with nice highs. A little less lows, but more punch. Cuts though well. I do have a soft spot for my old Trace. VERY loud 400W head....so loud and clear.

Help: Annoying background noise from new Phil Jones Combo
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd ask for a brand new unit. Then go from there -
I picked up a LM1 a few weeks back, (not bought it, just picked it up to see what it weighed). WOW...what a difference. The back of the amp (transformer area?) was massively heavy. Good amps all round though. Simple, nice, warm tone. The two filters are key though.
Does this mean your London move is no more, Gareth? Best of luck in finding a band in the Newcastle area
Unfortunately, despite saving and planning for months, I think a more economical move is due. All of our money would be gone in 2 months in London, although I would still like to try living there once I'm more established and within a law firm. Thanks for all your advice though, I'm sure we will bump into each other in the near future. Oh, I also found work in Newcastle so that swayed it a bit! Always loved visiting it, so we are going to give it a go

Hi I am looking for a covers/function band or anything else on the professional side. I live in Newcastle, so anything in that area would be considered. Please PM me or email for information. Thanks EDIT - No longer searching/available, found a suitable band

Anyone tried a Fender American Vintage 62RI Jazz?
Musicman20 replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
The attraction to me is that I think the best looking (to me THE classic) Jazz is a sunburst with rosewood neck and block markers and - like many others - I covet vintage instruments. I would prefer even older than early 70s but a late 60s Jazz is even more prohibitively expensive. You are almost certainly right that a more recent Jazz would be every bit as good a player and sound great but it just doesn't do as much for me. Its like a vintage Italian sports car is probably cr@p compared to a new Japanese sports car but I know what I would rather have.
I must agree. Until I can enjoy my gear more and get settled in my career, the vintage is out of reach. BUT, what I would like is the best of both...eg a new USA P/J and a vintage USA P/J. Then more....and more! -
B*gger Think I will keep looking for an early 70s Jazz and hope that someone on eBay puts the wrong price as a B-I-N! Either that or Sibob will crack under the relentless pressure of my irritating PMs and say, "OK, Clarky I'll sell you mine, now will you please leave me alone?"
What is the Nash Jazz like? I think with the reissues, the 62 P and 75 Jazz seem to be favourites. -
Is everything OK over there? Anyone know? Regards, A curious Jon.
Jon, that Lakland in your avatar is stunning.

My two favourite amps I currently own....the Orange and TC. The MB LM3 is also fantastic. I tried a lot of all tube and micro amps, and these three instantly jumped out at me. Cabs wise...well, ive gone around in circles with them. The Orange with its respective cabs is absolutely awesome. I really like Aguilar cabs, so I bought some. I also really like the TC cabs, and they are great prices, so I want some now! Berg also make fantastic cabinets... There are other great manufacturers: EBS, Epifani, Mesa...the list is endless. If you like a big Ampeg sound but want modern features, give the TC a test.
I've tried everything too and have been frustrated by the lack of punch of my Puma1000. I was about to give up but a visit to BassDirect and trying everything Mark has !(Sorry!) led me to this.......... I tried the Berg with the TC heads (all of them) but it sounded best through my Puma, much to my relief really. My reservation about getting an NV cab has always been the weight/size but the castors help a lot and the tone is unmatched by any cab or combination of cabs I have tried/owned. This combination really provides a huge punchy sound - fantastic - can't wait to gig it!
Wow! New colour on the Berg logo? Seriously would love an NV cab but I dont have the room or a car it will fit in It would work perfect with my RH450 or Orange.

White...mmm...love it. You knew Id love the binding/blocks....Im a sucker for them. Nice collection....very nice.
