1. Whats peoples experiences with the RS212....and combined with an RS210?
2.
The thing is im not unhappy with what i have. I think part of it is that the VM is so cheap. Its obtainable. its got good reviews, seems to tick all the right boxes for a cheap back up bass. I really like the look of your "proper" one and do miss my HW1 a lot more than i thought. Getting a VM will be a cheap option as it will probably get put in a cupboard after a few days. I put it down to that P vs Jazz thread, it got me thinking more that maybe my DD isnt ideal for all the songs. God forbid it becomes my main bass I Think i need to go and spend the day at dpreview.com to get this out of my system,.
How did the camera search go? My girlfriend i selling, I think, the same camera as you. She wants either a 5D, 7D, or 550D. I think the 5D is top of her list....but it lacks the great video the 550D has. I GAS everyday. I am starting to struggle with it hahah. But, I am holding back quite well. I have 5 very nice basses. I would like a lovely 5 string, but im tempted to wait and save for 6 months and get a real belter....maybe even some a little more exotic like a Roscoe. But, all in all I love the EB MM Ray 5 sound...so I might go for that. I do still love the idea of a $$ Streamer/Corvette, but the recent price hike has put me off. I have no amp GAS....no pedal GAS now the Polytune is ordered, but I do have GAS for ANOTHER TC cab....purely as I love cabinets. I would like a cheap backup bass....a used MIJ would be perfect. I dont want to get something thats a pain to play...so im upping the budget to £300. Lots of stuff around so im waiting for the right bass.
3. Its sometimes a right pain trying to buy second hand. Ive been lucky so far, mainly because of the great sellers I met on here, but if im 100% honest I love buying things brand new.
4. Id check the Aguilars....they are fantastic. I mean no disrespect to Ampeg but they are a step up...you will really notice the difference!
5. Im going to take a trip to Soundslive....but the mbox2 mini seems like a good deal. You get the program with it, as you mentioned. So, can I go direct from bass to mbox, or straight from sansamp to mbox, or more than likely, straight from RH450 to mbox? I am upping the budget a little...and going to get some nice headphones as well.
6. I had a GP12SMX...sold it on here. Brilliant amp. Sometimes a little too clicky and bright, but a very very nice amp. Very loud, clear, and bright. Weighed a lot, but well worth it.
7. If you do decide to sell let me know a rough price!
8. These things really are good gig bags.
9.
I hoenstly do not not know whether to purchase a 2009 fender jazz in arctic/maple, or the precision model. I can see the benefits of both but i just cannot decide. Musicman, i not you have the 2009 jazz, is this the mexican model. If so would you recommend it, and what are the stock pups like?
PMd you back
10. Ah yes....ive been oggling her in the past....shes smoking...as is this bass!
11. Can anyone suggest a nice set of headphones for using when playing along to tracks on my RH450? I use an old set of Pioneers which seem ok...not sure what ill get by upgrading but I thought id ask. They are literally 14 years old but actually still look new! Anyway, I think budget is no more than £60/70... Cheaper would be nice! But I dont want to compromise on quality. Thanks
12.
Reminds me of this one (any excuse to post this photo)!
Apologies for being off topic, as the bass is superb....but WHO IS THAT?!
13. errr....wow
14.
40%???? Are you sure?? Thats huge
There is no way id pay that amount...no way. You can get a lot more for your money. It basically takes the idea of a Skyline outside of the normal buyers pricepoint.
15. Hi I was asking around about the current Lakland situation, and apparently, the distributor have discontinued their contract with Lakland as there was yet another price rise. Now I thought the prices were high anyway...depsite the fact they are fantastic. But...another price rise?! What are you thoughts? Its a shame really, I think they need to keep the Skylines just below or above the £1k mark depending on the model otherwise its just getting damn silly. I wonder when the UK will see the new JO bass with blocks/binding?
16. Glad they sorted it for you. Seem MB make pretty damn robust amps I like the fact it senses a problem and shuts down.
17.
Adding a series/parallel switch to a Jazz bass gives you the best of both worlds. Pickups in parallel sounds like a Jazz. Pickups in series doesn't sound exactly like a P but has that dark P bass thump.
I do sort of agree....but my friend had the S1 Jazz, and he uses it to sound like a P all the time. But...IMO...it didnt sound like a Jazz enough I love the Jazz twang...but as per the topic, the P thump just sits brilliantly!
18. I need to play more vintage instruments to get a proper perspective on this. As Fender have really improved their line of Precision/Jazz basses recently, I cant find anything else thats comes close at the price point. Believe me, Ive tried. But, there still are some dogs out there...so that seems to be a continuing problem. Then again it seems to be the same for most large manufacturers. Ive played some awful Laklands, and some amazing ones. Pre 08 changes, I wouldnt have really bothered getting any modern Fenders unless I found a proper awesome one in the store. As I had bad luck with S1 basses, I stayed clear....but I always wanted a USA P and J. I did dabble with looking for a vintage, but this was before I became more interested in researching on here. Fast forward to 2008...I picked up the leaflet for the improved line. I waited patiently for reviews, and YES! They has finally come back with additions that most Fender players change on the instruments made before, (eg a much better bridge!). I would LOVE a pair of vintage Fenders....but I very much doubt I will buy any for the next 5 years or so unless one comes up when I actually have the cash. Im far too picky though...thats my problems!
19.
HAHAHA oh no, it sounds like I am getting aname for myself :) To be honest, it changes hourly, ask Old Horse Murphy as he will confirm this. However, the whole list is as follows. I hope you are sitting down. Right, as my Warwick is so wonderful as a Jazz bass and my ESP is also an amazing Jazz bass, I might sell my MIA 75 Jazz re-issue and buy either a Lakland Precision or Fender Precision. However, as my Warwick is so amazing, I might buy a Streamer LX or $$ as my Precision type of bass. I am also having urges to get a Lakland Darryl Jones again so this might replace the 75 Jazz. However, I have been there done that before and have so changed my mind not to do this. I also thought about selling the Stingray and the 75 Jazz and buying a Precision and a Warwick Streamer but have now changed my mind on that. I might just swap the Stingray who's name is Keira Knightley for a black one who goes by the name of Sandra Bullock. However, if I did this, I don't think I could keep her as Sandra Bullock and would have to re-name her as Sophie Marceau. As of 12.10am the latest is just get a Precision, either a Lakland or Fender but this will change by the morning.
I never had GAS such as this until basschat started to be a daily part of my internet life hahah! Now I feel your pain...I am the same. What do I want? Lots of things....but I can only get a certain amount. I have Laklands I really want to own, Warwicks, Ernie Balls, and more cabinets....and then some basic recording bits for the mac. Good luck in your search!
20. Whats on the horizon next for you Linus?
21. I think this might be a brilliant introduction to Warwick for me....hmmm. Im a bit wary of shipping though. As I messaged...I need to check the funds
22. I love the DB212s....but I probably have different tonal goals.....that being said I think the GS410 might be more your thing
23. Hmm....tough one. Nirvana....most of their early material. Then when I got into more of the punk side of music, NOFX.
24.
Thanks all for advice, it seemed to come down to Line 6 vs Roland Cube, with votes evenly split. So in true contrarian style I have ordered one of the new Orange Pix 25W combos (£110 from Sounds Live). At least someone will then be able to review it for BassChat! And Mrs C will so like the colour ....
That's an absolute bargain!
