Can anyone suggest a nice set of headphones for using when playing along to tracks on my RH450? I use an old set of Pioneers which seem ok...not sure what ill get by upgrading but I thought id ask. They are literally 14 years old but actually still look new! Anyway, I think budget is no more than £60/70... Cheaper would be nice! But I dont want to compromise on quality. Thanks
40%???? Are you sure?? Thats huge
There is no way id pay that amount...no way. You can get a lot more for your money. It basically takes the idea of a Skyline outside of the normal buyers pricepoint.

Hi I was asking around about the current Lakland situation, and apparently, the distributor have discontinued their contract with Lakland as there was yet another price rise. Now I thought the prices were high anyway...depsite the fact they are fantastic. But...another price rise?! What are you thoughts? Its a shame really, I think they need to keep the Skylines just below or above the £1k mark depending on the model otherwise its just getting damn silly. I wonder when the UK will see the new JO bass with blocks/binding?

Glad they sorted it for you. Seem MB make pretty damn robust amps I like the fact it senses a problem and shuts down.

Another Jazz v Precision but in context of a gig.
Adding a series/parallel switch to a Jazz bass gives you the best of both worlds. Pickups in parallel sounds like a Jazz. Pickups in series doesn't sound exactly like a P but has that dark P bass thump.
I do sort of agree....but my friend had the S1 Jazz, and he uses it to sound like a P all the time. But...IMO...it didnt sound like a Jazz enough I love the Jazz twang...but as per the topic, the P thump just sits brilliantly! -
I need to play more vintage instruments to get a proper perspective on this. As Fender have really improved their line of Precision/Jazz basses recently, I cant find anything else thats comes close at the price point. Believe me, Ive tried. But, there still are some dogs out there...so that seems to be a continuing problem. Then again it seems to be the same for most large manufacturers. Ive played some awful Laklands, and some amazing ones. Pre 08 changes, I wouldnt have really bothered getting any modern Fenders unless I found a proper awesome one in the store. As I had bad luck with S1 basses, I stayed clear....but I always wanted a USA P and J. I did dabble with looking for a vintage, but this was before I became more interested in researching on here. Fast forward to 2008...I picked up the leaflet for the improved line. I waited patiently for reviews, and YES! They has finally come back with additions that most Fender players change on the instruments made before, (eg a much better bridge!). I would LOVE a pair of vintage Fenders....but I very much doubt I will buy any for the next 5 years or so unless one comes up when I actually have the cash. Im far too picky though...thats my problems!
HAHAHA oh no, it sounds like I am getting aname for myself :) To be honest, it changes hourly, ask Old Horse Murphy as he will confirm this. However, the whole list is as follows. I hope you are sitting down. Right, as my Warwick is so wonderful as a Jazz bass and my ESP is also an amazing Jazz bass, I might sell my MIA 75 Jazz re-issue and buy either a Lakland Precision or Fender Precision. However, as my Warwick is so amazing, I might buy a Streamer LX or $$ as my Precision type of bass. I am also having urges to get a Lakland Darryl Jones again so this might replace the 75 Jazz. However, I have been there done that before and have so changed my mind not to do this. I also thought about selling the Stingray and the 75 Jazz and buying a Precision and a Warwick Streamer but have now changed my mind on that. I might just swap the Stingray who's name is Keira Knightley for a black one who goes by the name of Sandra Bullock. However, if I did this, I don't think I could keep her as Sandra Bullock and would have to re-name her as Sophie Marceau. As of 12.10am the latest is just get a Precision, either a Lakland or Fender but this will change by the morning.
I never had GAS such as this until basschat started to be a daily part of my internet life hahah! Now I feel your pain...I am the same. What do I want? Lots of things....but I can only get a certain amount. I have Laklands I really want to own, Warwicks, Ernie Balls, and more cabinets....and then some basic recording bits for the mac. Good luck in your search!

I love the DB212s....but I probably have different tonal goals.....that being said I think the GS410 might be more your thing

what tune/band that got you into bass ?
Musicman20 replied to phil.i.stein's topic in General Discussion
Hmm....tough one. Nirvana....most of their early material. Then when I got into more of the punk side of music, NOFX. -
Thanks all for advice, it seemed to come down to Line 6 vs Roland Cube, with votes evenly split. So in true contrarian style I have ordered one of the new Orange Pix 25W combos (£110 from Sounds Live). At least someone will then be able to review it for BassChat! And Mrs C will so like the colour ....
That's an absolute bargain!

I think if you are thinking JUST a bedroom combo for practice, stay as low priced as you can. Otherwise, youve got that awesome Mesa combo you can use instead! Ive never tried an Orange combo, but they look pretty!
-
Thats one compact little combo! I look forward to your thoughts on the sound
The sound of the amps are great, but it's the bells and whistles that elevate it above much of what's out there.
+1, thats what sold it for me.

I think my opinion is obvious. I would snap that instrument up in the for sales if I could. Refin? Hmm, as long as the price reflects that, then fair enough. I would be particular about correct case, case candy if possible. Its not that hard to keep all these things together if you are careful. IMO, Fender instruments look 'cool' anyway. Its just like I think Lambretta's/Vespa's also look cool. I definitely consider myself a person that enjoys 'classic' designs. Maybe its because they have been around for so long that many of us class a good Fender as the Holy Grail! I notice so many people on this forum going back to a Fender P, just because no other instrument sounds like a P. They might get VERY close, but its not that sound im afraid. Ive tried it, and I came right back.

Hmmm! That is odd...and may cause confusion.

I would like to add I wont be tinkering with an onboard pre! I bought the Aguilar Tone Hammer to be able to have this option but with every single bass, and no mods, and cheaper! Ok, it depends if you like the Aguilar sound, but its definitely for me -
I just love blocks and inlays.
Swish photograph Dave!
