1. Keep the Ray....Im not a massive fan of the deluxe Fenders.
2. Went into town today and noticed there are loads of options. Arrgggh. I now also have the problems of needing a power bank...thinking the T Rex Junior might be right.
3.
The Boss RE-20 might be worth a look (it's basically a modeled RE-201 Space Echo). I think on bass you really need tap tempo to make good use of time-based effects.
Thanks guys. I know the TC Nova Repeater has tap tempo built it and it sound wonderful on the demos! It is mainly for guitar though.
4. Far too many options with this...need some help! Now, I know I wont get the perfect sound....as Im using no effects loop (Dual Terror) but I like my delay in the clean sounds anyway. What is the best sounding delay pedal that isnt crazy money, and isnt packed with lots of features? I had a Line 6 DL4, and if im honest it was overkill for me. I have a few choices...some digital some analog. My sound? Im looking for spaced out type post rock....Godspeed, early Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky. I also like dark indie like Interpol etc etc. Even though I dont like U2, I do like their typical delay sound they have. Whats the best to go for? Analog? Digital? I dont need loads of features, just a fantastic pedal! I have come across a few I like the sound of: MXR Carbon Copy TC Electronics Nova Repeater Any other ideas? I want it to be a plug and play kind of pedal...no messing with lots of programming etc etc. I dont think I need presets really. Which will give me a great 'lost in delay' type of delay where you can turn the knobs and it just sounds chaotic, through to nice and clean delay?
5. Hi chaps Im after a power supply for my Tech 21 BDDI, (if I use it non-DI) Aguilar Tone Hammer, (18v again if I use it non-DI) and the new TC Electronic Polytune. Is it worth me buying a power supply? Or should I stick to batteries? I have seen the Tech 21 and Aguilar power supplies, and they are upto £40 for both....so may as well get a brick or stick to batteries. Which is the best power brick for about £60 that can do 9v and 18v? Cheers PS The Polytune manual says: Power in- use a 9 VDC power supply Power out- If you use an external power supply you may use PolyTunesTM power out to daisy-chain power to other pedals. • Do NOT connect an external power supply to POWER OUT. This could cause malfunction or damage to PolyTuneTM. Current draw on daisy-chained pedals may not exceed 2A. • Be sure that your power supply delivers sufficient power to cover the power consumption of all pedals. • Place PolyTuneTM before drive and distortion pedals for best tuner indication. the receiver.
6. Thats a good deal. I paid £70 more than that...but saved a bit on other bits n pieces, incl the cabs.
7. Yep, pics please. Looking for a backup.
8. I've got two and never noticed this problem. Hmm!
9.
The 550D isnt out until at least next month so for now its something i will get at some point but in no hurry. For video the 7D is tops but its over 3 times the price of the 550D. Ive been told i can get one for just under £500, body only from a private seller who i (and many others) have dealt with in the past. PM me if you want more info. Its all legit. The 5DmkII (is this the one you mean?) is a great camera but older than the others so it might be cheaper but like you say, its video features are quite basic. Ive still got no amp or pedal GAS. Im more than sorted for amps as i have a good spare rig already. And if i start to rely on my BDI21 more ill get a Sansamp BDDI but other than that i dont want to use pedals. Cant be bothered with all those extra cables to be honest. Ive seen the VM Jazz for about £220 new and to me thats a bargain. There is one for sale on here but for £200 and collection so i dont think ill bother with that one. Something second hand around £150 would be ideal though. By all accounts its a decent player and im not to bothered about a prefect finish, not at this price although i bet its better than the DJ5 you had ;-)
Hahah, probably! Same here, I want a bass I can not worry about. So, the search is on! Ill PM you about the camera! Cheers
10. Whats peoples experiences with the RS212....and combined with an RS210?
11.
The thing is im not unhappy with what i have. I think part of it is that the VM is so cheap. Its obtainable. its got good reviews, seems to tick all the right boxes for a cheap back up bass. I really like the look of your "proper" one and do miss my HW1 a lot more than i thought. Getting a VM will be a cheap option as it will probably get put in a cupboard after a few days. I put it down to that P vs Jazz thread, it got me thinking more that maybe my DD isnt ideal for all the songs. God forbid it becomes my main bass I Think i need to go and spend the day at dpreview.com to get this out of my system,.
How did the camera search go? My girlfriend i selling, I think, the same camera as you. She wants either a 5D, 7D, or 550D. I think the 5D is top of her list....but it lacks the great video the 550D has. I GAS everyday. I am starting to struggle with it hahah. But, I am holding back quite well. I have 5 very nice basses. I would like a lovely 5 string, but im tempted to wait and save for 6 months and get a real belter....maybe even some a little more exotic like a Roscoe. But, all in all I love the EB MM Ray 5 sound...so I might go for that. I do still love the idea of a $$ Streamer/Corvette, but the recent price hike has put me off. I have no amp GAS....no pedal GAS now the Polytune is ordered, but I do have GAS for ANOTHER TC cab....purely as I love cabinets. I would like a cheap backup bass....a used MIJ would be perfect. I dont want to get something thats a pain to play...so im upping the budget to £300. Lots of stuff around so im waiting for the right bass.
12. Its sometimes a right pain trying to buy second hand. Ive been lucky so far, mainly because of the great sellers I met on here, but if im 100% honest I love buying things brand new.
13. Id check the Aguilars....they are fantastic. I mean no disrespect to Ampeg but they are a step up...you will really notice the difference!
14. Im going to take a trip to Soundslive....but the mbox2 mini seems like a good deal. You get the program with it, as you mentioned. So, can I go direct from bass to mbox, or straight from sansamp to mbox, or more than likely, straight from RH450 to mbox? I am upping the budget a little...and going to get some nice headphones as well.
15. I had a GP12SMX...sold it on here. Brilliant amp. Sometimes a little too clicky and bright, but a very very nice amp. Very loud, clear, and bright. Weighed a lot, but well worth it.
16. If you do decide to sell let me know a rough price!
17. These things really are good gig bags.
18.
I hoenstly do not not know whether to purchase a 2009 fender jazz in arctic/maple, or the precision model. I can see the benefits of both but i just cannot decide. Musicman, i not you have the 2009 jazz, is this the mexican model. If so would you recommend it, and what are the stock pups like?
PMd you back
19. Ah yes....ive been oggling her in the past....shes smoking...as is this bass!
20. Can anyone suggest a nice set of headphones for using when playing along to tracks on my RH450? I use an old set of Pioneers which seem ok...not sure what ill get by upgrading but I thought id ask. They are literally 14 years old but actually still look new! Anyway, I think budget is no more than £60/70... Cheaper would be nice! But I dont want to compromise on quality. Thanks
21.
Reminds me of this one (any excuse to post this photo)!
Apologies for being off topic, as the bass is superb....but WHO IS THAT?!
22. errr....wow
23.
40%???? Are you sure?? Thats huge
There is no way id pay that amount...no way. You can get a lot more for your money. It basically takes the idea of a Skyline outside of the normal buyers pricepoint.
24. Hi I was asking around about the current Lakland situation, and apparently, the distributor have discontinued their contract with Lakland as there was yet another price rise. Now I thought the prices were high anyway...depsite the fact they are fantastic. But...another price rise?! What are you thoughts? Its a shame really, I think they need to keep the Skylines just below or above the £1k mark depending on the model otherwise its just getting damn silly. I wonder when the UK will see the new JO bass with blocks/binding?
