Thats a fair few pedals! I only have 3-4 but they are all different so the T Rex Chameleon is on order for them... Yep, basically isolated means you have a separate supply-ish for each outlet. Voodoo Power Labs (sp?) might be up your street. Expensive but you will only need one for a very long time. Ive never looked into the gig rig distributor. Ive found over the past few years you definitely get what you pay for...same goes for the power supplies. Cheapest might do the job but might not be the best.

Fitting TI Flats to an 09 USA Precision
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Accessories and Misc
I loved TI's on my HW1. This was the first time i had ever used flats and we did our first demo with them. They were so easy to record. I also loved them on my HW-One P but after a while i missed the overtones etc you get from rounds. I found Chromes to be a good middle ground as far as tone goes but i think once i get my MM bass sorted out im going to put some Ti's on my DD. I just love how soft they feel and are very easy to play. As far as setting the action up goes i found this video to be really helpful. when i had "our" P5 i just used the Fender spec's (from the Mr Gearhead site) rather than the Lakland specs at first, but found the Lakland spec to work just as well, and gave me a lower action. Bass Set up
Cheers Dave Ill take a look at that. What I am shocked at is how I miss the flats...I have been a ssteel rwound user for all my bass playing life until I got Clarky's ex P, which I sold on, but I managed to get another lovely P in classic J Jamerson style. All it needs is these TI Flats. Its definitely the mix sound that makes me like them....if im honest I lose all the clanky high end from the decent roundwounds once the guitarists turn up. So, I wont miss it that much. Of course, the feel and flexibility of the TIs is great...and they have brilliant mids. Not only that....they will last for a LONG time and probable get better with age. The new covers band asked me about it the other day...as the P sounds quite aggressive and almost like Steve Harris when played fingerstyle at speed. I personally like it in the right band (eg heavier) but in a covers/rock band the flats will blend in more...especially on the funkier tracks. -
I've heard reports that Labella Flats don't like going string-thru - the almost right-angle bend at the saddle can split the windings open. I've not had this issue - I have both LaBella & TI flats on string-thru basses with no problems. As you have a choice it may be safer to topload, but you may prefer the slightly tighter feel of thru stringing. You may be used to cutting down the strings before you put them on. Martin Petersen once told me that it is better not to cut your strings - it certainly isn't necessary on a fender-type long scale bass with TI flats. Get as many winds on the tuner as you can and stack it as neatly as possible with the string exiting right at the bottom, ie as near to the wood as possible. I probably haven't explained this very well, but I can probably post a pic later. I owned my first precision for 20 years before plucking up courage to touch the truss rod - it was a daunting task as first, but it should become second nature once you've done it a few times.
Thanks....I did wonder about cutting the strings. I will attempt to not do this! Its be a few weeks before I go ahead so Ill be building up some info on the truss rod adjustment. -
I really like my mates MarkBass 210 combo but I am not so sure I would want it (LMll ) as my main gig amp. Not sure why..just a feeling. Well spec'd though so might need to put some time in with some of their kit in earnest.
How about an F1 or LM3 with your Aguilar cabs?

Lol did this turn into a for sale thread?! The Orange OBC115 is pretty much well known for having a nice amount of high end despite the lack of tweeter. There is a 1x15 shootout and the Orange came out very favorably....this is why I bought it. Its around £430 new....not cheap. but it is a very capable cabinet. Nice fat lows, and sweet highs....obviously more vintage voiced. The port design works really well IMO and its the coolest looking 1x15 out there.

If you want noiseless you are best going for isolated outputs, which costs money. In the end, its best to go this way anyway, as no dubt you will end up selling and losing money on the cheaper model for the more expensive one. I spoke to a few effects experts and they just said the same thing; buy isolated output supplies.

Personally? Lm3 all the way. I love the warmth and low end from mark bass amps.

Hi everyone Just putting this out as a feeler. Basses I'm interested in would be: Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 H or H+S. Fender TF Fretless Precision in Sunburst. Money adjustment can be discussed. If it was for straight sale, because it is literally showroom condition, (you WILL be impressed) then im asking for £810. This bass is perfect. Brilliant low action, new EB Slinky Srings. You will find it difficult to find a new stock Stingray thats been hung in a shop in better condition than this. It is 10/10..no doubt. Even in the bright light, there is no light marks or swirls at all. No fretwear or marks on the neck. I will as always consider PM offers. I can negotiate price and an as new hard case, (Hiscox...very nice quality and pretty light despite the fact its very strong). I am based in North-East England. I can consider shipping if you know a reliable shipping company
What about TC Electronics cabs? I've been offered a deal. I can't wait a month or so for a Barefaced cab. No patience and I've gigs coming up. Plus I can get these locally which I like. I was thinking of the RS210 plus an RS112. The full lot for bigger gigs, just the 2x10 for smaller ones and just the 1x12 for rehearsals.
IMO the TC cabs are well worth the money. They sound great, dont weigh that much, and are mid-price range. I went from Berg to these cabinets and im really impressed. I still want some Berg ER 12s though!
A HI STANDARD FAN! I think a miracle just happened somewhere! I too love those crazy japs. I was sad to hear when they split I didn't actually know this festival existed! I'm paying for a new bass and all sorts of other stuff at the moment so nahh But hearing that the Bosstones are playing kind of makes me want to drop everything and escape to belgium haha. You goin'? Chris
Hi Chris I sure am. I missed out last year because of my Law Course falling on that weekend...but now ive completed that I am free to go! Booked everything just recently. Bad Religion! Yep Fat Wreck have some pretty amazing, and quite technical, modern punk. I miss the mid 90s though. Gareth

Why are these basses not more popular? I know a few guitarists who use the more 'metal' inspired guitars....well made but the tone is far too modern and scooped for me.
Fit as normal (through body is fine) but you will have to slacken the truss rod off a quarter or half turn as the tension on TIs is lower than Fender stock rounds. Quick and easy to do on modern Fenders due to easy truss rod access and the stock red-handled tool they provide. Just keep tweaking until its how you want the action, but be aware that it takes a bit of time after each adjustment for the neck to settle down (so what may seem perfect action immediately post-adjustment may be slightly different the following day).
Thanks Ive yet to ever turn a truss rod....scary stuff Thanks though! -

Finally joining the 'covers/function' scene

I can definitely say this is a positive experience. My playing has come on more than I imagined in the past month! Thats from playing 2-3 times a week for a few hours and trying to play every track fingerstyle. 1 year ago my plec skills were very very good, and my finger skills were a little weak. Now my fingerstyle has really come on, in so much that I am starting to prefer it with certain types of music. It 'feels' better for some reason, especially with those fingerfunk style tracks. I have also started to roll off tone on my P's about 1/3-1/3, which I never did before. Last night I really wanted my flats on the bass just to have that perfect P thump, but Im waiting for the stock Fender strings to wear out first. The stock strings are a higher gauge to what I am used to, so no doubt when I stick my TIs or a set of lower gauge DR stainless strings on, Ill be even quicker than I thought. Those lessons I had when I was 13/14/15 are paying off. -
I have my first 'wedding' gig booked in a forest up in Scotland, (I have yet to be told the location). The date is in June. Basically, the couple want a 'festival' wedding, and we are playing along with some other rock cover/originals bands. The money is quite good and we are getting put up and fed/watered. Quite looking forward to it. Apparently they are erecting a proper stage for it, obviously covered in case of bad weather.

Can you go out from an output of the Sansamp BDDI or Aguilar Tonehammer into headphones? I would really need wireless though...I could not deal with another cable to the pedal especially to my head. Ill see how this new band goes first...they dont play silly loud, so I can hear myself even DI'd with BDDI.

I think a North East Bass Bash is on the cards.... I have no car now due to living literally in the centre of Newcastle and it was just a waste to have it sat there when I can walk and get in shape more. That will mean a lack of my gear at the bash....but maybe I can work around that. -
TheMarkbass CMD121P is a great home amp and can cut the mustard live as well. Again expensive, but really top notch.
Id love one of those...I often think of selling the LM3 to get a combo but not sure I want to just yet.
Mate, you can make this Corvette sing. The necks are amazing, so are the pups and tronics. The bass balances beautifully too. You can adjust the string spacing. I have mine narrow too. Consult the manual in your user kit about how to do this. I reckon you can love this bass. get it set up and give it a chance, no point losing money. Let us know how you get on and if you need any help. All the best mate.
+1...try and get it to your liking first rather than take a big loss on it.
You're probably not going to like this but if you ever were to be selling then now would be about the right time. The price for second hand 'rays has soared recently. It's probably cheaper to buy one from the USA and pay all the charges now than pay some of the asking prices on here at the moment. I don't expect it will last long as everyone will start doing it and before you know it supply will outstretch demand and they'll £550 again. The bad news for you is that a good condition with lumps and bumps 'ray will achieve the same price as a mint one.
Hi, thanks, I agree! As the price on a new has gone sky high, mine would be a bargain considering how good it plays/looks and feels. I might give it some thought....it could help towards a fretless or 5'er. I just really like them both though.
If you go around deleting conflicting opinions from threads relating to your product, or dismissing any discussion relating to said product with the "I'm an engineer, so your opinion is invalid" card, it leaves a bad impression (particularly when experienced bass players are the ones contributing to the discussion). Simple as that really. I can't knock his products, as I haven't tried them. Some people like them, some don't. He certainly wasn't hounded out, he chose to go and divert his attention elsewhere as I recall. The way I see it, is if you're going to promote a product on an internet forum, you need to accept that your product will be discussed and picked apart. We do it for products from every other brand - I don't see why being a BC member should grant immunity from that when people will be parting with good money for the end product at the end of the day.
This is what I thought if im honest. We pick apart a lot of products on here, and unfortunately it happens with ALL products. Im sure Alex/BF will continue to sell products anyway, but honest criticism is essential on new products especially when the are always being changed.
