As promised the replacement has arrived. Works perfect! Almost no operating noise at all and no vibrations. What a fantastic little combo. Impressive top end due to the tweeter and handles a low B far better than I imagined it could. Having blown a couple of Peavey MicroBass combo's in the past I was reluctant, buy my god… the lap tones this amp allows is stunning. Real loud and compact and punchy. The tone is clearly EBS, but not quite as clean as the big ams so you guys a little unsure of the sound may appreciate it. Perfect little home practice/small gig amp. Very happy
Thats a cool little combo.
i'm after just the regular vt bass pedal, but waiting till the deluxe gets released so i can pounce on one when folk upgrade! wish they'd hurry up!!!
Me too....because I want to test the new Deluxe!

Surely the Walkabout is the best combo ever?! Its the only amp I GAS for now.
-
P - sits in the mix perfectly esp with flats and tone rolled back a little....can 'grind' as well with ss rw strings and tone all the way up. Stingray - There is no hiding a Ray......cuts through the mix. Both brilliant.

I was about but only for the end of the first half and upto halfway through the second. The Metro still confuses me despite it being very straightforward. There were a lot more trains after the apparent 'last train home' so I should have stayed around. Bsss Doc's P/J is absolutely stunning. A very pro band, and it was great to see a mixture of all ages involved in one band.

Only popped in for an hour but I was very impressed. The metro took longer than expected though so I missed some I would have come to look at that lovely Fender but drool may have ruined the electrics.
Hmm, not my kinda thing. Active electronics and too many knobs for me (the Precision in particular - only one less switch and one less knob than my AD200B amp head)
I normally would agree....but Im finding a 5 string works better (Jazz) with a little help and a few modern twists. No doubt all the knobs will stay pretty much in one point for me.

WITHDRAWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Hi I have recently obtained this beauty....and it was the pick of the crop. Probably the best overall QC ive seen on a Fender recently. Good neck pocket, (tight!) brilliant finish, excellent neck, nice low action. I have been rehearsing only with this one, and it fits in the mix so well. The new band Ive joined loves the thump and/or aggressive P tone. It comes with a new style SKB case and everything is, as normal with me, showroom condition. It is a 2009....so very bloomin new. The pick cover and sticker are still on as are the tuning key film thingys. I just left them on due to concentrating on playing and forgot to take them off. These are now £899.00 (or more depending on where you go) due to the Sunburst finish. Im looking for offers around £725.00. PM me any offers. A good saving on a top notch QC new Fender. I am based in the North East. Why? Well, I need a fretless and barely anyone has a TF Fretless so Im going to have to sell a few bits. I have a Stingray up as well. Id rather not sell both...but we shall see. Hence the feelers. I just know Ill regret selling any of them....im currently trying to see if I can keep them both and just be skint! Mods - please dont be angry if I take these down...I am having a GAS crisis. Edit - very quick photo:
Sadowsky basses. RV4 & MV4PJ MB Cabs 102HF & 102P powered by LM11. Focusrite Compressor thingy.
I must admit ive always been tempted by Markbass 2x10s....nice setup

Yep....apparently Fender tried to keep these basses from being leaked. I imagine they wanted a large website/email promo all on the same day with launch at a show. Some of the dealers in the USA obtained them early and advertised straight away. Either way, its worked, as I really want one. There are rumours that Fender give these instruments special attention when it comes to fit/finish/fretwork. Basically, trying to take a slice of the super-jazz/precision market. Kudos to them I say...if they get it right and keep the prices at what Ive seen (or lower as normally occurs when they have been out for a while) then Ill be making an order. I would love to A/B these with a Sadowsky Metro....
This could certainly happen if the MIA Fenders carry on being as good as they are at the moment. (Do they play as well/better than vintage Fenders? I dunno.) It's conceivable that 20/30/40 years from now, the 2009/10 models (for example) will be the must-have vintage Fenders. There are no guarantees in these things.
Hahah heres hoping mate. Ill be keeping mine at home then
This is lovely Gareth. Probably my favourite colour combination. Out of my budget at the moment though. Good luck with the sale.
Cheers Dave! Im gassing for the new Fender 5 Deluxe Jazz and the TF Fretless.....if I had enough cash I wouldnt sell anything. -
It's free!!!! And a jolly good pub - real ales an' all. On about 9.15pm.
Oh heck....real ales....cannot go wrong! Thats a fair few pedals! I only have 3-4 but they are all different so the T Rex Chameleon is on order for them... Yep, basically isolated means you have a separate supply-ish for each outlet. Voodoo Power Labs (sp?) might be up your street. Expensive but you will only need one for a very long time. Ive never looked into the gig rig distributor. Ive found over the past few years you definitely get what you pay for...same goes for the power supplies. Cheapest might do the job but might not be the best.

Fitting TI Flats to an 09 USA Precision
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Accessories and Misc
I loved TI's on my HW1. This was the first time i had ever used flats and we did our first demo with them. They were so easy to record. I also loved them on my HW-One P but after a while i missed the overtones etc you get from rounds. I found Chromes to be a good middle ground as far as tone goes but i think once i get my MM bass sorted out im going to put some Ti's on my DD. I just love how soft they feel and are very easy to play. As far as setting the action up goes i found this video to be really helpful. when i had "our" P5 i just used the Fender spec's (from the Mr Gearhead site) rather than the Lakland specs at first, but found the Lakland spec to work just as well, and gave me a lower action. Bass Set up
Cheers Dave Ill take a look at that. What I am shocked at is how I miss the flats...I have been a ssteel rwound user for all my bass playing life until I got Clarky's ex P, which I sold on, but I managed to get another lovely P in classic J Jamerson style. All it needs is these TI Flats. Its definitely the mix sound that makes me like them....if im honest I lose all the clanky high end from the decent roundwounds once the guitarists turn up. So, I wont miss it that much. Of course, the feel and flexibility of the TIs is great...and they have brilliant mids. Not only that....they will last for a LONG time and probable get better with age. The new covers band asked me about it the other day...as the P sounds quite aggressive and almost like Steve Harris when played fingerstyle at speed. I personally like it in the right band (eg heavier) but in a covers/rock band the flats will blend in more...especially on the funkier tracks. -
Fitting TI Flats to an 09 USA Precision
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've heard reports that Labella Flats don't like going string-thru - the almost right-angle bend at the saddle can split the windings open. I've not had this issue - I have both LaBella & TI flats on string-thru basses with no problems. As you have a choice it may be safer to topload, but you may prefer the slightly tighter feel of thru stringing. You may be used to cutting down the strings before you put them on. Martin Petersen once told me that it is better not to cut your strings - it certainly isn't necessary on a fender-type long scale bass with TI flats. Get as many winds on the tuner as you can and stack it as neatly as possible with the string exiting right at the bottom, ie as near to the wood as possible. I probably haven't explained this very well, but I can probably post a pic later. I owned my first precision for 20 years before plucking up courage to touch the truss rod - it was a daunting task as first, but it should become second nature once you've done it a few times.
Thanks....I did wonder about cutting the strings. I will attempt to not do this! Its be a few weeks before I go ahead so Ill be building up some info on the truss rod adjustment. -
I really like my mates MarkBass 210 combo but I am not so sure I would want it (LMll ) as my main gig amp. Not sure why..just a feeling. Well spec'd though so might need to put some time in with some of their kit in earnest.
How about an F1 or LM3 with your Aguilar cabs?

Lol did this turn into a for sale thread?! The Orange OBC115 is pretty much well known for having a nice amount of high end despite the lack of tweeter. There is a 1x15 shootout and the Orange came out very favorably....this is why I bought it. Its around £430 new....not cheap. but it is a very capable cabinet. Nice fat lows, and sweet highs....obviously more vintage voiced. The port design works really well IMO and its the coolest looking 1x15 out there.

If you want noiseless you are best going for isolated outputs, which costs money. In the end, its best to go this way anyway, as no dubt you will end up selling and losing money on the cheaper model for the more expensive one. I spoke to a few effects experts and they just said the same thing; buy isolated output supplies.
