1. Pics of your combo would help
 2. My finger technique does this....with P basses. It sounds like Iron Maiden....sometimes I want to get rid of it. I think I play quite aggressively though.
 3. Thinking about the whole combo flexibility and ease of use, its pretty clear when I think about it that if you have a flexible amp head (eg Shuttle or RH450) that has headphone in, ipod in, etc etc, then there is no point in getting a combo. Why? Well yes, the smaller speakers/cabinet allows easier practice, but you may as well put the money towards a really nice 1x12...eg Berg AE112/HT112ER, and build on that. Just thinking out loud! Id never be able to even practice with quiet drummers with most the practice amps here, but a Berg 112 (or other brand) would hold down quiet rehearsals. More money I know....hahaha.
 4. Polytune and a guitar setup. I really dont understand how a £1.5k Gibson can go out of tune so often, but then again Gibson's QC is terrible recently. Its strange how basses seem to just 'stay' in tune. I can put my Precisions in a padded gig bag, get on the Train, exposing it to different temperatures, then open it at the practice room and its spot on.
 5. That combo actually seems quite reasonable for high end gear...what, I wonder, is the tone like?!
An interesting thread this because I've been thinking about changing my bedroom combo for some time. When I took up bass again I just looked around for the cheapest thing that I could find and got a Peavey Max 126. Diddy little 10W thing but I tend to practice fairly quietly anyway. It's served me fine for the past 4 years, no complaints. But then I noticed in my Bass Direct email that PJB have a new small combo on the market, The Cub. Looks very nice, great spec and immediately GAS starts to rise. I could afford it if I wanted. A sensible person would point out these 4 things:

You've never heard the thing
It's too underpowered to gig and it's too overpowered for bedroom practicing
There really is nothing wrong with what you've got
It costs £400 - think what else you could do with £400...
At the moment the sensible person is winning...
6. Can I just confirm these are Nitro? How does the finish last with a few plays a week or so?
 7. Anyone nailed the perfect P Bass w/flats thump (nice old funk setting) with the RH yet?
 8. Absolute stunner...you will definitely get your money back on such a nice example of a quality Jazz. Good luck.
 9. This is the 'classic' Ray colour for me....still love mine. Good luck
 10.
Just tried a couple out, hardly even noticed the fanned frets after a couple of minutes. The ABZ really is awesome, wasn't that impressed with the combustions though.
Was there quite a lot of difference between the lower priced models?
 11. Just read this thread fully. Remarkable story! Huwberry definitely had the funniest caption. Was the Natural/Maple/Black guard one of the original colours? Just wondering....as that was always my favourite Ray colour and I ended up buying one!
 12.
I've just bought a TC Staccato and I'm considering their cabs as well. I've seen the cabs stacked vertically and I really like the idea of combining easy transportation, flexibility in placement and the thought of getting both ground contact as well as definition from something closer to the ears. Is there anyone on the forum that has tried and experienced this? What is the sound dispersion like? How do they compare to a 4x10 cab on the ground? Should I go for two RS210s or combine an RS212 with the RS210?
The main advantage is the 'height' of the sound for me. Its ear height, and you can have the horn set as you like at ear-ish level. That means you can hear yourself much better than a 4x10 sat on the ground. The advantage of two 2x10s is taking one for smaller gigs, stacking two, or placing side by side vertically/on top of each other horizontally. Lots of choices. My opinion on the RS212 front? I followed the Tbass thread, messaged a few players, and they all said the RS212+210 just 'works'. I asked Tom Bowlus and he mentioned that was his preferred setup out of the RS210x2 VS RS210+212. But, the RS210 will get low and punch like crazy. I just love the chewy mid range and little extra 'ummph' from the 12s....(its definitely there, the cab feels much 'fuller and louder'...but the RS210s are brilliant as well). You cant go wrong, esp at the price point. I think if TC were a US company we would be looking at a lot higher price once they were imported over here.
 13.
Yep, IMHO. But this thread was about tiny bedroom practice combos, Gareth
I always struggle with finding a tiny combo...I always think 'is it worth it' or 'should I just use what Ive got'. I still dont know whats best. Advantages are that I can plug in and not go to stupid volumes, negatives are that will end up gassing for the best. From the general consensus, the Roland and Line 6 combos seem pretty good. But thennnn I think, why not just get a nice 1x12 and use one of my amps. Hmmm. The joys of GAS. Is the Orange not what you hoped?
 14. Bump and thanks for the PMs. Better pics coming soon unless the cc decides it can take the strain of the TF Fretless.
 15.
As promised the replacement has arrived. Works perfect! Almost no operating noise at all and no vibrations. What a fantastic little combo. Impressive top end due to the tweeter and handles a low B far better than I imagined it could. Having blown a couple of Peavey MicroBass combo's in the past I was reluctant, buy my god… the lap tones this amp allows is stunning. Real loud and compact and punchy. The tone is clearly EBS, but not quite as clean as the big ams so you guys a little unsure of the sound may appreciate it. Perfect little home practice/small gig amp. Very happy
Thats a cool little combo.
 16.
i'm after just the regular vt bass pedal, but waiting till the deluxe gets released so i can pounce on one when folk upgrade! wish they'd hurry up!!!
Me too....because I want to test the new Deluxe!
 17. Surely the Walkabout is the best combo ever?! Its the only amp I GAS for now.
 18. P - sits in the mix perfectly esp with flats and tone rolled back a little....can 'grind' as well with ss rw strings and tone all the way up. Stingray - There is no hiding a Ray......cuts through the mix. Both brilliant.
 19. I was about but only for the end of the first half and upto halfway through the second. The Metro still confuses me despite it being very straightforward. There were a lot more trains after the apparent 'last train home' so I should have stayed around. Bsss Doc's P/J is absolutely stunning. A very pro band, and it was great to see a mixture of all ages involved in one band.
 20. Only popped in for an hour but I was very impressed. The metro took longer than expected though so I missed some I would have come to look at that lovely Fender but drool may have ruined the electrics.
 21.
Pics?
Coming
 22.
Hmm, not my kinda thing. Active electronics and too many knobs for me (the Precision in particular - only one less switch and one less knob than my AD200B amp head)
I normally would agree....but Im finding a 5 string works better (Jazz) with a little help and a few modern twists. No doubt all the knobs will stay pretty much in one point for me.
