Anybody who is in need of a decent tuner pedal, watch the classifieds, I have a feeling there will be many TU-2s suddenly going up for sale!
Definitely. I bet ebay has a fair few. Did anyone upgrade to the TU-3 instead of this?
Just ordered one from bassDirect and will indeed be selling my TU2!
Thats what I did! Still waiting for mine to get here...

I wonder which Baschatter is taking the plunge first?! I would but cant quite afford one at the moment.
Control plate too crowded? I thought basses had to have at least five rotary controls to be any good?
Hhaha, more than 2 and its pushing it!
I just showed the missus the natural one, the conversation went: "Look at this dear" "it's pretty, you have really started to like natural basses lately" "indeed, but you would kill me if I brought it home" "If we have the money and the space you can have as many basses as you like" This one's a keeper.
Awesome. The girlfriend said to me I can spend as much as I like on instruments as long as I have the cash to spare! Definitely a keeper hahahah.
Doesn't this look so much neater by comparison (I appreciate its not active, but I am talking design) - the Tony Franklin fretted. Now that I like a LOT
The TF is a stunner No doubt about it... Now...my GAS has gone back up for the TF Fretless yet again hahaha.
Is it me or is the fourth knob on the Precision too close to the jack socket? All looks a little too bunched up for me. Why didn't they put the jack socket on the lower edge? See Oly White one below:
I agree, although Im not a fan of ever trying to improve the simple P design or making it active. In fact, even with a 4 string Jazz I wouldnt mess with it, but a 5er sometimes needs that little extra. I used to have the American Deluxe Precision with the H + P pickups, and it really wasnt my cup of tea. Heres hoping they sound good. The Jazz control layout looks much better http://www.fender.com/themes/products/imag...94690705_md.jpg
I'm interested in the N3 pickups. Are they Bongo-esque neodymium magnets?
Specs and photos are now officially on the Fender site http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?section=basses I like the 'highly detailed fret and nut work' part. Baggsy the White 5 string Jazz with rosewood neck. Those blocks/bindings are killer. Elecs are 18v. Very interesting....as soon as I hear some positive reviews from a players perspective (eg good B and good electrics) Ill be taking one.

My finger technique does this....with P basses. It sounds like Iron Maiden....sometimes I want to get rid of it. I think I play quite aggressively though.

Thinking about the whole combo flexibility and ease of use, its pretty clear when I think about it that if you have a flexible amp head (eg Shuttle or RH450) that has headphone in, ipod in, etc etc, then there is no point in getting a combo. Why? Well yes, the smaller speakers/cabinet allows easier practice, but you may as well put the money towards a really nice 1x12...eg Berg AE112/HT112ER, and build on that. Just thinking out loud! Id never be able to even practice with quiet drummers with most the practice amps here, but a Berg 112 (or other brand) would hold down quiet rehearsals. More money I know....hahaha.

Guitarist tunes between numbers - what to do?
Musicman20 replied to OldGit's topic in General Discussion
Polytune and a guitar setup. I really dont understand how a £1.5k Gibson can go out of tune so often, but then again Gibson's QC is terrible recently. Its strange how basses seem to just 'stay' in tune. I can put my Precisions in a padded gig bag, get on the Train, exposing it to different temperatures, then open it at the practice room and its spot on. -
That combo actually seems quite reasonable for high end gear...what, I wonder, is the tone like?!
An interesting thread this because I've been thinking about changing my bedroom combo for some time. When I took up bass again I just looked around for the cheapest thing that I could find and got a Peavey Max 126. Diddy little 10W thing but I tend to practice fairly quietly anyway. It's served me fine for the past 4 years, no complaints. But then I noticed in my Bass Direct email that PJB have a new small combo on the market, The Cub. Looks very nice, great spec and immediately GAS starts to rise. I could afford it if I wanted. A sensible person would point out these 4 things:

You've never heard the thing
It's too underpowered to gig and it's too overpowered for bedroom practicing
There really is nothing wrong with what you've got
It costs £400 - think what else you could do with £400...
At the moment the sensible person is winning...
Can I just confirm these are Nitro? How does the finish last with a few plays a week or so?
Just tried a couple out, hardly even noticed the fanned frets after a couple of minutes. The ABZ really is awesome, wasn't that impressed with the combustions though.
Was there quite a lot of difference between the lower priced models?

When Leo Fender met a Basschat Legend
Musicman20 replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
Just read this thread fully. Remarkable story! Huwberry definitely had the funniest caption. Was the Natural/Maple/Black guard one of the original colours? Just wondering....as that was always my favourite Ray colour and I ended up buying one! -
I've just bought a TC Staccato and I'm considering their cabs as well. I've seen the cabs stacked vertically and I really like the idea of combining easy transportation, flexibility in placement and the thought of getting both ground contact as well as definition from something closer to the ears. Is there anyone on the forum that has tried and experienced this? What is the sound dispersion like? How do they compare to a 4x10 cab on the ground? Should I go for two RS210s or combine an RS212 with the RS210?
The main advantage is the 'height' of the sound for me. Its ear height, and you can have the horn set as you like at ear-ish level. That means you can hear yourself much better than a 4x10 sat on the ground. The advantage of two 2x10s is taking one for smaller gigs, stacking two, or placing side by side vertically/on top of each other horizontally. Lots of choices. My opinion on the RS212 front? I followed the Tbass thread, messaged a few players, and they all said the RS212+210 just 'works'. I asked Tom Bowlus and he mentioned that was his preferred setup out of the RS210x2 VS RS210+212. But, the RS210 will get low and punch like crazy. I just love the chewy mid range and little extra 'ummph' from the 12s....(its definitely there, the cab feels much 'fuller and louder'...but the RS210s are brilliant as well). You cant go wrong, esp at the price point. I think if TC were a US company we would be looking at a lot higher price once they were imported over here.
Yep, IMHO. But this thread was about tiny bedroom practice combos, Gareth
I always struggle with finding a tiny combo...I always think 'is it worth it' or 'should I just use what Ive got'. I still dont know whats best. Advantages are that I can plug in and not go to stupid volumes, negatives are that will end up gassing for the best. From the general consensus, the Roland and Line 6 combos seem pretty good. But thennnn I think, why not just get a nice 1x12 and use one of my amps. Hmmm. The joys of GAS. Is the Orange not what you hoped?
