Thanks for the heads-up wotsy. I've past it on to another Peavey fan,3 1/2 Foundations is more than enough for me . Paid £50 for my 5 string Foundation off eBay but felt that guilty I gifted him another £25,just like this it was a helluva bargain.

Great bass the PB-50,so good I bought 3 of them.

Is that the basses that look like a Curbow ? Can't tell you anything about them I'm afraid but as I've both the Cort Curbow and the Tanglewood effort I wondered how these fitted in.

I joined the ranks of the double P last year, this Mockingbird was on Edinburgh Gumtree priced for a quick sale But I was working in Kent for 2 weeks Didn't look at Gumtree again till the night I travelled home, was amazed it was still there. Was home, had a kip, nipped through to Edinburgh and back for it, all within 12 hours of crossing the border. [attachment=205671:Mockingbird (2).jpg]

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
kodiakblair replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Aye congratulations AT. -
Did anybody see the salesman model on eBay this week ? 0000000 serial number, think there was 6 or 8 of them built. The salesreps had them to convince shops to stock the T series. Any way one of those memorabilia shops had T-40 and T-60,split new unplayed, perfect knick cases but the neck needed adjusting. Probably never been touched since it left the factory early 78 Asking price was $1000 an it sold for $1000. Sad eh,to think any old beat to hell Fender will sell for a damn sight more than £647. Glad I never based my retirement plan on selling my Peaveys

@DorsetBlue Normally I have payment pending until the bass is delivered, always thought it was in case I canceled the order. -
What's to be said. The T series were introduced as competition for the other two big players, Hartley Peavey had heard Fender were putting pressure on his dealers " If you don't stock our amplifiers we won't supply you with guitars !! " so the plan was design guitars and basses with more features and lower cost. There was an ad run showing a Strat, Les Paul I think and a T-60. All with their prices showing and just one word " WHY ". The T-60 was at least $100 cheaper Your T-20 dropped the fancy electrics to go head to head with the P bass,a job it does great. 83 Fender Japan and Squier Japan are costing a pretty penny these days, your's is ideal for all those 30-somethings wanting a birth year bass or the discerning type looking for the uncommon look but delivers the goods. There you have my biased view on the T-20
-
Garry The T 20 was Peaveys answer to the P bass,Normally lighter than the T-40,mines weighs 9lb, but the same robust build quality. The controls are simple like the bass it was to compete with,no turn to 7 for single coil like the T-40 just tone and volume. Great neck too quite a shallow profile 21mm at 3rd and 24 at 12th. 44mm wide at the nut. Won't say any more as I'm kinda biased

There was a problem with Nexus packaging, the company supplying the envelopes changed the paper to one holding moisture. This got sorted out a while back but could explain why some folk found Nexus dull or dead. I was looking for Black Beauties but the owner of Ayr Guitars pushed me in the direction of his Wal strung with Nexus and told me to play it and see for myself. Now using Nexus on a couple of basses. I must add super bright RWs are not my thing.

AT My money would be going to Revelation and I wouldn't think twice. I was thinking in my earlier thread ( £50 is too much ) about the more common brands that sell 1000s every week. I really don't want to be naming brands , Today I saw a bog standard jazz bass for £220 RRP was £350,this was by a well known company who now get their basses made in China. My deko jazz was £33. Course I'm not thinking factory-agent-distributor-shop,they all need to make a profit too so I suppose £220 is about right. This is what I get for idle thought -
Just saw Aquila do a 5 string set E - B. Maybe losing the E and tuning the B up to C would work for Ghost_Bass.
-
They are that Jack. I think I'd need to cut them shorter too but when I felt the tension change dramatically I called it quits. I had visions of the bridge coming off.
-
@Ghost_Bass I would dearly love to help you, having one of the Harley Benton bass ukes to hand I tried tuning up to ADGC. Started with the G and even after a huge amount of turning it wouldn't budge past A. Then my bottle crashed at the thought of trying the rest. Sorry

Poll, how many many basses have you got?

Holy Smokes Rob Size 2 !!! A bit difficult to store stuff in a matchbox sized shoebox. Where does she keep the poems you penned in your courting days ? Unless you wrote Haiku -

AT I was giving some thought to the likes of Revelation,Chowny and Retrovibe. Can they really compared to the big players ? Like yourself I've browsed Ali Express enough to have an inkling of prices but have those 3 the buying power to get the low prices ? Revelation are of course a bigger outfit than the other 2,I think they're both one man bands ( Dave Konig certainly is at Retrovibe ),but still not that big. Prices on 1000s of units will be lower than on 100s and dozens. So I think their products and prices as a good deal, they have fewer resources to weather mishaps in production or delays and far lower sales figures. The brands selling 1000s of items every week ? I don't view them in the same light.
