Is Keef right, Sgt Peppers is a load of tosh?
kodiakblair replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
I've never heard it so can't comment. Keef really said it was crap just like Satanic Majesties " they saw us do a load of s**te and thought they could do the same " -
I notice it says the seller covers return if faulty but it first says to be aware who pays return if you change your mind, not you'll note the seller is not legally obliged to pay return. If your deko arrives with a busted headstock I'd say it was faulty but if it's merely unplayable as it's stated to be you could be paying to return it. as the Thomann free return policy applies only in Germany. More important is the OP will have to spring for postage and insurance for trial of the £4K Fodera.

Harley Benton 'Kahuna' Basses (Kala U-Bass ripoff)
kodiakblair replied to dannybuoy's topic in Bass Guitars
Off topic slightly but I read this thread yesterday about a cello with a Styrofoam top. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/building-instruments-from-styrofoam.1165446/ It was designed in Belgium and there's some debate about the construction, mainly from a naysayer but it was on TalkBass so to be expected. The goal was smaller instruments without sacrificing volume and tone. A bold move on something as traditional as a cello but if it takes off could have benefits for all acoustic instruments. -
Not a fender! It's Harley Benton!
kodiakblair replied to Twincam's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Would that be the £27 one in Cleveland ? I notice there's another 2 sans neck ! a super Strat and LP both 99p and no takers. If it's the same one here's the link Grangur though it's not listed as Fender Precision. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COMPLETE-PRECISION-BASS-GUITAR-BODY-NATURAL-WOOD-PICKUPS-ALL-ELECTRICS-FENDER-/261991602941?hash=item3cffea9afd -
Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
kodiakblair replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Never went through with the Beat bass buy. I was after the PB-50 for the body but they were sold out. I won't be waiting on another deko though as £70 isn't a deadly price and this was the first time this year the 50 has been listed. -

Weird. I put a Beat bass in the basket on the mobile site but it doesn't transfer to desktop.Signed in on both sites. Which one do I believe though. No Beat bass showing on desktop version. -

Getting a Jazz Bass to sound like a Musicman
kodiakblair replied to joshua.harris1234's topic in Bass Guitars
Buy a Retrovibe Super-P with the mini toggle switch mod and use a preamp pedal. Best of 3 worlds -
Original Bands wanted to audition for new TV Series

Clause 16 of t&c says you grant them all rights to your image and sound worldwide even if not selected. Clause 17 says further contracts with Thunder Valley must be signed if you are selected.Suppose these are standard TV conditions. Very info has been posted yet who Thunder Valley are but a wee bit digging reveals the drummer from Showaddywaddy owns TV. Toyah is one of the guests along with a Pantera bass playing fella and Big Country drummer Mark Brzezicki. Can't fault the pedigree of either Mark or Toyah. Great seeing all these bases. Keep em coming folks.

The Shine 6 here was cheap in price at £60 inc delivery. I got it just to see how I'd do with 6 strings, then decided I didn't Hid it in a case for a while but recently dug it out with selling it in mind, turned out my problem was just set up related Neck shim and wee bit juggling with the 2 truss rods and it was good to go.Only I never put it up for sale I'll never be proficient on 6's but for £60 it's well worth keeping around. How does it work posting basses that cost below £180 but would normally cost a lot more ?

That's a damn good week by anyone's standard. Be a shame not to go for the circus. -
Or maybe the bands were just crap? Age ain't got much to do with it,there are a lot of us older folk enjoy going to Rebellion every year. Just don't pogo too much.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
kodiakblair replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
I was just thinking as Thomann scrap whole consignments due to X amount of basses failing spot checks the " on request " could be basses from batches nearly scrapping levels. Probably no explaining that right -

Maybe anyone who wants one should go through the check out, they might get lucky and snag one as they appear. -
One of the fellas in the HB owners group on TB got one last week and if there was a chance of things going wrong they should have. It was a £40 deko and he never noticed it was a leftie until it arrived. Turns out he's chuffed to bits with it,the deko reason was switches were wired back to front ( off meaning on ) but with him swapping the nut and playing it upside down job's a good'un. Well £40 it'd need to be terrible not to be worth it. Got quite a few HB's myself from £50 basic P bass to £200 odd active thru neck fancy top BZ 4000, no complaints with any of them. PB-50 and JB-75 are both fine basses. Admiral you get 30 days to make up your mind time if it's for you or not,no quibble refund or replace if it's got QC issues and 3 years warranty. Kinda hard to go wrong.

Aye the right fella won for a festival crowd. Thankfully it's only 2 "songs", No matter how good or unique the playing any more than 15 minutes of this would bore me to death.I never heard anything I would say was a tune just rap-a-tat-tat,strum,harmonic, rap-a-tat-tat,strum,harmonic and repeat. Good on the lad for entering and winning the show but don't expect me at one of his shows. If Goldilocks had won then a stunt dog was on the cards to win the next season.

kodiakblair replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Rob It's obvious why it's a deko !! You're Tai Chi markers Yang-Ying rather than Ying-Yang . This being the severest form of anti Feng Shui will cause a bad flow of energy from the battery, Apart from that Good Score -

ben4343 I hope I'm wrong but I think any side dots will be centre of the fret like normal, just can't see them using different jigs on basses this cheap. I'll be happy to be wrong on this though. Heard from a guy had battery trouble with the B-650 and another fella who thinks it's great and uses it for recording. Can't comment myself,I've the old Shine 6. -
Just reading through and it seems any suggestions I thought of have been said. I've a Curbow,an Ibanez Mikro and the Harley Benton U-bass alike on hand here so can provide any weights or measurements required. Gotta say the mental image of a Lass in a wheelchair playing a big old P bass is pleasant one, brilliant example of spirit overcoming difficultly Well done that lassie.

Natural acoustic deko is up. Sadly it's a leftie PB-20's for £20 too. -
Yeah Machines the compromise is lower profit margins and no middle men.
