1. @bertbass Discrimination against lefties has always been there ,but I was a bit surprised they offered them in the first place
2. Holy smokes a Watkins/Wem from a few years before just sold for £200 more than I paid Saturday.
3. What a result. Congratulations on another fine purchase.
4. Thanks grayn. I don't foresee any real problems with it but need to ask those in the know about the nut. The action's fairly low already but it's not using the zero fret so a bit jiggery-pokery is required.
5.
A Kay Tulip bass? That's more rubbish than a rubbish thing that's really rubbish. The Wilson Sapphire is a great and very playable bass with a slim, fast neck, pickups might be a bit on the low output side though.
Absolutely 100% correct That damned quirk in my personality told me it was a good idea, the one I had was put on the bonfire but the neck still came back to haunt me They were responsible for more folk giving up than starting up Should be forced upon anyone saying today's beginner basses are naff.
6. Thanks bertbass. I'd enlisted the help of Len_derby for a Kay Tulip bass project and boy am I glad that fell through
7. Having just moved from a few years of almost free accommodation to fully legit premises I swore off any purchases. The future looks grim Is heating, hot water and cooking facilities and the bills they entail a fair trade ? Anyway yesterday I'm in Glasgow teetotally helping a friend celebrate his birthday, they're not drinking much as visits to Guitar Guitar,Merchant City and Strung Out etc are planned. To be honest I never saw anything I fancied apart from a MIJ P-bass I've been informed has Foto Flame (cheers Twincam) and a freebie Squier Katana neck (chances of finding the rest zero I think).I was also meeting up with a fella about a bass As the bank sold off my house a couple of years back any YOB would be a modest affair. This fits the bill. 68? Wilson Sapphire. Neck's a bit too straight,it's a refin I'm sure and it needs a new nut. Apart from that all in working order,S/N is 15736 so puts it from 68 or thereabouts. Quite why somebody felt the need to do this is beyond me
8. colgraff Allowances must be made for us non- English speaking one finger typists .
9. Up to my mid 30's I still made an attempt but these days after being subjected to 80's AOR for 12-14hrs at work all I carve is silence.
10. Just heard this myself. Damn Was playing Dio songs on Friday night.
11. Had that happen to me once. Years back a fella messaged me about postage for a U2 I pod. As I've never sold anything on eBay it was new to me.Turned out I had 50 of them for sale
12. Heard the price range earlier $999 to $1599. Will this mean £650 to £1100 ? Can't see it myself Hearing grumblings from America already. " It costs more than a used USA Cirrus ! " " wish they were made in Mississippi " They seem to miss the fact there's probably 50 Fenders sold in the US for every Peavey. Why would they take the trouble to re-open a factory and retrain an expensive workforce for a tiny market ? Oh I forgot no market exists outside of the US,silly me
13.
I thought for one moment . . . !
Not for one second Steve That's no even a mibbe !! Geo I have both BXP and USA Cirrus and they're great basses, recommended a BXP to a Canadian fella week before Christmas. He did 1 rehearsal with it then 2 4hr gigs. I'm not one for any BXP vs USA mallarky, just glad to see Peavey expanding the range again.
14. Just saw Peavey have announced the return of the Cirrus. Back to 35" scale and looking the same as the USA models. Think it's still made in the Far East and no idea of a price but I wonder if any Americans will buy it ? Plenty complained when it was dropped but if they didn't buy when it was made in the States what did they expect ? http://peavey.com/news/article.cfm/action/view/id/840/cat/1/article.cfm
15.
Come around June ish, some of mine are to be set free!! I'll keep you posted.
And here's me just having boldly stated I was done buying basses for 2016
16. This morning I've spotted the ideal year of birth (or a near as damnit ) bass. Trouble is I'm no where near Hasland I'm looking for some kind soul to collect this prized object for me,whip the neck off and wrap the thing up for a courier. By that you can imagine it's in a bit of a state. Any help would be welcome. Here's the ad https://www.gumtree....-art/1150100500 Cheers KB. P.S Stuck on a shop-fit job all week so I'm only able to check-in now and again.
17.
You moving somewhere with more spaces for basses KB?
That's what I'm afraid of Rob.Will more space lead to more bass ? I don't know much physics. Is there a Law that says X amount of bass concentrated in 1 place will cause implosion ?
18. drTStingray Normally I'd agree with you 100% but with a house move happening soon I'm having trouble with that bold statement. 2 or 3 weeks though I'll be proudly wearing the T shirt
19. That's a helluva bargain. I've had one of these for a year or so,very comfy bass to play. GLWS
20.
OK then, how do justify having more than thirty..?
Ehh.. Is this a trick question ? Asked the ginger tom. He says it's OK
21. Had the same with PF on Hogmanay. Called in the morning and was told delivery was on,by 2.30pm I checked tracking " delivery attempt at 12.30pm failed ". Course there was no card, depot said they'd get driver to turnaround and try again. On Hogmanay !! no chance. Complained on their FB page, couple of fellas tried to help and despite being told Monday the 4th was a holiday,it was there Monday morning Used UPS last week via Interparcel. Happy to report completely trouble free
22. Justify having more than one ? I'm saying nothing
23. Well I better trade in the £5 digital camera for that task
24. Chris Be afraid, very afraid ! 13's not even close Oh Steve I'm chuffed to bits with the Cirrus. It's that braw I've had to use some of your photos along with mine to show it off properly With full disclosure of course.
