1. I must admit i do like active stingrays, i could never imagine that as a passive although i know some of the old US Subs were passive. It is totally tongue in cheek of course but i don't miss that extra expense of a decent battery
  2.
There's something missing in the tone of active basses in my opinion. I can't put my finger on what though. I've had a few actives in my time, from stingrays to shukers and every one has had something missing.
+1, I know what you mean. With the thanks of Kiogon and his brilliant replacement wiring all my active basses are now passive and i much prefer the tone off all. Don't get me wrong i think there is perhaps more immediate bass/treble tone with active...but just not what i like....it often sounds compressed to my ears.
  3. Audere Pre amp on hold pending the usual
  4. Another loom from John s fitted....sounds absolutely fab, exactly what i was after. All 3 of my basses are now all passive thanks to John's great work & service. Very highly recommended 110%. Thanks
  5. Recently bought the Schaller tuners on here but the back plates sadly overlap on my custom built jazz and therefore don't fit shame as they're really good tuners. They would be ideal for Fender/Squire type P or J basses. Would swap for some smaller type i.e. Hipshot Ultralite type and can cash adjust. Or sell for £35 posted (paypal gift or bank transfer) Also have an Audere preamp taken out of my Lakland 5501 as i have gone all passive. I broke the battery indicator LED on removal but i am sure it would be an easy solder repair, however it is not essential. I don't know much about it other than its a Audere Zmode 4 band EQ preamp - I read briefly they're pretty good but i prefer simple passive configuration so have opted for just that. Pretty sure this is the one, http://www.audereaudio.com/3ZB.htm not sure if mine has a passive configuration though - it may have I'm a bit clueless really . The controls are currently set as Vol, Treb, Bass, hi/lo mids (double), Blend and a 3 way switch for the 'Z' modes. £80 posted or may trade - what ya got...would'nt mind a decent envelope filter or compressor, decent strap, double gig bag, some tweeters to fit Peavey 2x10TX cabs, or a jazz neck
  6. I think Gong perfected their best sound with Mike Howlett, not the original but certainly my favourite. Same can be said for Ozrics Roly Wynn (RIP).... Fantastic playing
  7. Bump for the white one, great bass folks!
  8. Just bought a Lakland off John, top guy & top bass. A credit to basschat. All the best, Lee

  11.
PM'd
TRB on hold

    Warwicks
Yup, s/h and German's the way to go. Don't underestimate the Fortresses, tho - I've had a few Warwicks (Corvette, $$ NT, etc) and I think my 93 wenge-neck Fortress is one of the best basses, let alone Warwicks, I've ever played. Mmmmm, wenge...
de ja vu buddy but have to plus the 1 on that...still loving mine...apart from our colours eh

  15. Anything by 'Chic' matey. My soul band, perhaps now a bit funk too, have just started playing 'I wish'...great fun to play. Other easy cover suggestions would be 'Express yourself,'Move on up'' or 'Long train running'....but if they're proper funkateers then funk up Chameleon or some Jamiroquai ...May the funk be with ya brother!
  16.
Me to, can take one prrson with me from plymouth? Just need some fuel money, have a van so happy to take gear pm me if you interested
I'm tentative depending on commitments & uni work at the mo. However if i do go i'd be up for a lift i reckon but will confirm closer to the date. Obviously if someone else comes along with a definite confirmation then off course let them join you. Anyhow where is Sherbourne?
  17. I've just been playing reggae on mine tonight, these are great basses - good luck with the sale
  18.
The H2 is fine then. Set it for the quality and record level you need, let it run. I had one, it was superb, great for recording gigs too. We use our iPhones these days though so I sold it to chris b.
I've got a H2, they're great. I'm intrigued to how your recording on the iPhone...do you use a separate mic? Which app?
