  1. Kind of wishing Ernie Ball hadn't replaced the body on my past Special I had in 2018. It was originally under 8lbs, but would of got lighter, arguably acoustically more resonant, due to an Ash Bora Beetle infestation 😂…long story short was the new body was over 9lbs and therefore I sold it. Could of been in the 6lbs by now 😂😂…someone out there is missing out making Paulownia Stingray bodies!
  2. The Bass Centre, Birmingham circa 1997. The story: Been learning a few months on a cheap Ibanez, still pretty crap & no amp - practicing through my cheap midi hifi. Amazing talented bass player in my best mates band takes too many psychedelics at the time and takes a trip to jam with Buddah and disappears for many years to come. I have his bass for a few months and get asked to join my best mates band. Little did I know at the time was that this heavy bitch of a bass I borrowed off the first bassist was a Jaydee. Meanwhile Buddha bass get his bass returned to his parents and then loses the Jaydee, or gave it away I believe, on a pilgrimage in India. Anyhow, the bass centre - plans to buy a Squire and used Peavy TNT amp (super heavyweight), saved the money - on budget. Travel from Shropshire to Birmingham with the vocalist in his 76 bay window VW Camper and it sort of turns into a bit of a Cheech & Chong journey…smoke everywhere and not just from the VW. Anyway, arriving somewhat spiraled eyed I end up stoned beyond all comprehension and sign my first ever loan…Stingray & Trace Elliot combo…bloody skint, great times, great shop - long live listening to Funkadelic at the Birmingham Bass Centre 🤩
  3. Well it was more like this afternoon, Cider festival. This right here absolutely sang today 😎🏁
  4. @Kiwi, as you know I am keen for one of these and would quite like the mop inlays too. Are you looking for deposits? If so can you fire me your details - thanks buddy.
  5. The head on my Markbass MB58R combo already has a lid on it upon removal. These little things make me happy 😊

  6. Great cabs! Bad timing, bought one just last month. These are super cabs suited for all genres, but I particularly like these for Motown & reggae as they’re deep but have great definition.
  7. As said, British racing green 😎
  8. Beautiful bass, fully agree that it requires a lot of restraint. Same boat here on the NHS, mutually agreed resignation schemes in full swing…logically before woeful next steps! Well done government, not! Anyhow, I think this bass has put me in the mood for some Zender tunes 😎
  9. The Cali76 has been the holy grail 🤩

Yep, it’s definitely working magic on balancing my tone. I even got a compliment at a gig 😂

Not to fuel your fire but I run a DCX Bass in front of mine and it's a match made in Bass Heaven.

  10. Fantastic news, Lozz – welcome to the club SL! I have a 4 and a 5, and they’re now my main gigging basses. Interestingly, I put some Nordstrands in my 4 yesterday. They haven’t added much compared to the previous Black Label pickups, which I think are great, but the sound does seem to have a slightly broader spectrum. Speaking of sound, I really like the tone on these. I recall a comment about them being considered “thin-sounding” based on their weight – well, that’s simply untrue in my experience. There’s great tone to be had, perhaps even more so on my 5, which has a John East preamp. It offers a little more variation and perhaps some colouring over the stock Sandberg preamp. My shoulder and back love the weight – and when paired with an Elf amp and a 4-ohm, 10kg Markbass 2x10, what’s not to like?
  11. Selling due to lack of use. Band I was going to use it in folded quickly. Fantastic pedal, very versatile and even more so with the Disaster area pedal allowing you easily switch through multiple settings. Barely used and with original boxes. Free stomp toppers if you want them, Velcro on bases but easily removed. Bargain for both £180 collected from Plymouth or £10 postage within the UK.
  12. Absolute legend!
  13. That would be great. I was hoping for something similar to the MM Slo neck which is similar to the jazz width. I think the standard USA Rays were just over 41mm from memory. What is the next steps? Do you need deposits or are you scoping the demand/cost? Its fantastic you're doing this for the community, big credit to you.
  14. Probably too much of an ask, and not a deal breaker, but any chance of a slimmer nut width on the 4 ray? 40mm-38mm? Appreciate I maybe in a minority and it may not be feasible though.
  15. A few extra pics, seems it’s a 2012 model - very good condition for age, it’s had an easy life for sure…of course apart from that manky handle.
  16. Thanks Kiwi. Do we have a ball park cost? Colour me interested too 😊
  17. I'm mostly using the 2x10 Pure, 4ohm, with a TE Elf amp for the majority of the gigs I'm doing with a loud ska band. Its Super loud and super light. Sounds great too.
  18. Will there be Stingray shaped necks available 3 over 1? Thanks
  19. Selling my trusty ‘reggae’ bass which has served me well. Being headless Its a true lightweight 5 string at just under 8lbs and sounds thunderous with the GHS flats currently on the bass - can be changed to rounds if preferred though. The upgraded pickups to Aguilar really makes this bass sing and whilst I primarily used it for deeper sounds of ska and reggae it does other genres exceptionally well with a great rock and slap tone. The action is buzz free and very low. The neck has some lovely wood figuring and it plays super smooth. Comes with the Ibanez gig bag. Just simply a great bass all in all but surplus now as I use my ultralite Sandberg for my rare foreays into 5 string territtory and this beauty is waisted just being unused. Price includes UK courier or will knock some off for collection from Plymouth.

  20. So after gigging the Mesa my heart is on that deep switch. The Mesa is staying, Puma is most definitely for sale 😊
  21. Got this in a trade last year and it’s been the living room amp ever since as I got some other nice gear around the same time which I mostly gig. This beauty is clearly a bit of an overkill and it’s far too good to be ‘just’ the living room rig! What can I say, it’s the full Markbass 500w sound into the 12”, and it’s very, very loud with a separate powered tweeter. Most definitely an all in one combo solution and a one hand carry. The handle is worn but fully functional-easily obtained from Markbass if wanting a new one. The amp itself has a great tone as you’d expect given Mr Carons put his name to it-this really is a quality bit of MB kit…and I’ll repeat again…it is very, very loud! A nice defined smooth loud too. Markbass spec: Link A bargain at £350 collected from Plymouth or willing to discuss couriers at cost to the buyer, or possible meet up the southern ends of the M5. May consider trades, ideally after a Markbass NY151, either 4 or 8ohm, would also swap for a MB Jeff Berlin combo, or newer type MB 1x12 or 2x10 energy or pure. Possibly a Markbass or Darkglass amp. Possibly also interested in something 4 string Stingray ish for the home studio with a bit of cash either way.
