  1. Played some punky ska at some seaside pub in Dawlish for a music festival. Went down really well. Backline was interesting, Orange guitar valve head into some Ashdown combo speaker and 2 x10”, actually worked well and sounded quite nice. Also the first outing for my 6.4lb Spector…no back ache today, hoorah!
  2. This image sums up my 1990’s time…..hoping we get to the gig!
  3. Need some help please Spectorites - What do you guys do for d-tuners on the newer (2021+) Spector Euro’s? I’ve recently bought an RST and was thinking about the Hipshot GB7 detuner/xtender but I think the peg (shaft bit), is thicker on my Spector tuner, and also the tuner heads are different patterns - are they interchangeable as again they look different? The tuners are Gotoh’s on my RST. TIA.
  4. It’s a different beast mate from my usual holy trinity basses. Quite a spectrum of sound. The active bass full on is perhaps too boomy for a reggae vibe so I found dialling in a bit of bridge pickup helped with definition. It excels at a P clanky two tone vibe when dialling in the highs, not too brittle either, and yes that growl people talk about - cuts through brilliant. I wasn’t sure at first about going for the Aguilar setup, and perhaps far it’s from the ‘Spector sound’ but I’m really liking what I hear so far. The neck pickup is perhaps my favourite, bit like a super P, quarter pounder pickups is. The only negatives are no passive bypass or option, to which I may try a different preamp eventually, and the tiniest bit of neck dive being so light but on the strap it’s fine - the weight is joyous as I say. Looking forward to gigging it.
  5. All is well, that ends well. Did my 3 weeks holiday in the USA whilst all the time keeping an eye on the spending money and a few pennies were to my luck left over. Quick contact to Will at Bass Bro’s from the Grand Canyon…the rest is good history. Growled like a mother biatch at last nights rehearsal. 6.4lbs and sounds awesome, love it, as does my back. Just need to find a de tuner now. Spector RST.
  6. Cheers mate, yes will factor that into the decision making 😊
  7. Thanks soooo much for you help, much appreciated.
  8. That looks very nice. Will have a good look later at this. @Hellzero Do you speak German? If so Any possibility of asking the seller if they’d ship to the UK? Many thanks.
  9. Cheers mate, yes I keep coming back and looking at this, it’s the wild card in my current Spector, Sandberg conundrum. @essexbasscat , could you tell us more about the sounds - I know this is subjective but any comparisons, vintage modern , what the controls do? Is it a 34” scale - looks a long neck…any neck dive etc?
  10. Looks stunning, what’s the weight on this one?
  11. My P bitsa has the Cali blue Sonic body and USA neck, Hipshot lightweight tuners. It is joyous at 8lb, EMG Geezers too - love it.
  12. Cheers mate, I was hoping to try the NS Pulse 2, but will have a look at the Euros you mentioned. 😊
  13. I’ve got a max budget of around 2K but ideally around 1.5 or less. I’d prefer to get used if possible too.
  14. That’s interesting to know. I remember looking at the online a while back. I may have a look in the shops too. Let me know if you decide to sell 😁
  15. What did you change from and too? I’m wondering if I got down the custom route what pickups to consider. It’s really odd as I was never a fan of EMG’s but I put some in my Cort jazz a few months back and I’m loving them now.
  16. What model Cort is it? I recall trying a used Cort 5 string jazz at PMT many moons ago and it was really light, and cheap. Still kick myself now for not buying it.
  17. So I finally go on a lifetime dream family holiday very soon, a California dreaming road trip - a holiday that has witnessed the selling of many of my cherished bass pieces over the last 12 months to help fund...however I can confess to being a bit naughty on some occasions and bought other bassy bits too - 12 months is indeed a long time (Lightweight amps & speakers mainly). But overall i made a good contribution to the holiday funds with sales on here, local etc and feel I've done my bit. Fast forward to the here and now, and after today's post full on energetic 90 minute Ska gig back pain from last nights festival party, Mrs Raslee gives me the green light to buy a ultra lightweight bass....something I've been considering for a while with age, increasing bad back and physique, and more gigs coming in with the differing bands i currently play with. Last night i gigged my Precision bitsa that weighs in bang on 8lb which is my lightest 4 string bass, I also gig a Stingray Special at 8.6lbs (main bass), and a Cort Jazz at 9.1 lbs which i had the worst back ache gigging that one two weeks ago....sounded great though with upgraded EMG's! I'm sorted on the 5 string lightweight front with a 7.4 lb Cricket bat but i reserve that for my reggae band for when we get together. A few months back i had been seriously thinking about an eventual ultra lightweight 4 string purchase along the lines of the Sandberg SL's, but a recent add for a Spector RST on bass Bro's has peaked my interests at just over 6lbs in weight. However i think i'd prefer a P/J configuration to the RST's humbuckers but those Aguilar's on the RST do sound great from the reviews i've read/heard. I also have to admit i am getting a bit of Spector GAS, more so as one of my bands is thinking about a Blondie tribute and well, a nod to Leigh Fox perhaps, and it would be something different to my current holy trinity of P/MM/J. I also like the looks of the purple NS 2 Pulse model....hoping to try one on my holidays when in L.A. Any thoughts on lightweight basses, Spector, Sandbergs SL's...others etc etc...I will of course spend some monies on the Gym too...one day
  18. Quick Q, is the RST 4 string the lightest Spector? I see Bass Bros have one at 6.4lbs and that weight is very appealing. Thing is i think i prefer the P/J configuration...i'm likely to be shopping for something ideally under 7.5lbs over the coming weeks post holidays.
  19. I was just thinking the same, that neck pickup. Awesome bass.
  20. Class track
  21. If you’re looking for a great modern artist check out this guy - another great riddim to play ❤️💛💚
  22. Loving playing this B-line with my reformed reggae band, great dub version too:
