2. Recently traded my Precision with Russ for his Jazz, great deal and we're both very happy with the trade. Top fella to deal with, great comm's all round and a credit to basschat. Deal with confidence. thanks, Lee
3. Many people overlook the Fortess, not sure why, but they're a bargain often on here...I love mine (apart from the bogie green colour)
4. Great thread, and love the o/p's Capri I've got a bogie green Warwick fortress - I keep thinking about doing a maroon red or maybe another colour. Ive never been struck on the green if im honest. However the body is stained green, no poly finish. Could I just smooth sand and then primer, colour etc?
5. Bob Marley's / Babylon by bus Funkadelic's / Maggot Brain
6. Bump
7. Where are you based Russ? I've got a lovely CIJ 57 P, sunburst , maple neck gold anodised pickguard I could be up for trading.
8. Get a Fortress, cheap as chips on here and a hell of a lot of bass for the money!!! Good Zender sounds too
9. Le bump
10. £210??? Gotta be a good deal at that. May consider trades or part trades for other bass gear
11. Yeah cool beauty. Wish I had spare cash. Good luck with the sale
12.
You wont regret it man - I just had Jon at the bass gallery level the frets on my '94 of this and I don't think anyone could put a P in my hands that can trump it!
Pending usuals all done Yeah really looking forward to using this in my soul band. I used to have a 57RI in black which i regrettably traded years ago and loved it, missed it terribly when it went. I then tried to make my own bitsa's and even owned a nice JV which had a much wider neck than i remembered of my old 57RI...so I'm going to go back to what i know
13.
Unfortunately I don't know and there seems to be no sign or label on them anywhere (just "B" mark on bridge pickup, but I think it stands for "Bridge"). I think they're not CBC though. At least not the modern ones. I had CBCs in my other bass and bottom side looked different. These have copper plate on back while CBCs I had were cast in black epoxy. Also, these have only 2 wires.
ah ok cheers, sadly i don't think they'll fit my Lakland. Good luck with the sale
14. Reckon I could do with a P PM'd
15. Do you know what model the Bartolini's are? i.e. P25CBC - http://www.bartolini.net/information/bass/new_bass_pu_s5.htm Thanks
16. Yup, Shake Rattle & Roll was in our set along with a Latin/calypso flavoured 'Auld Lang Syne'...went well despite how drunk the band was
17. Have a 5501 bump, such great basses. Have just fitted Nordstands to mine and wowsers! Superb necks and B' strings.
18. Yeah awesome bassline, I found myself groovin along to it t'other day
19. Haha my soul ish type band are wanting to do this track and its not cutting it for me, that African groove and feel is hard... I think the slap solo is the easy bit
20. My past active basses never seemed to work that well through my Orange Terror Bass amp...although it accepts passive basses better...to my ears anyhow..and I am deaf
21. Some times playing closer to the neck can give a warmer sound, nice technique, i tend to do that if i'm playing a more 'dubbier' section in a tune. One of the hardest things i find playing reggae music is a good drummer who is solid, a lot of drummers will slow down to sometimes match the bass which can often be behind the beat like old school studio 1 bass lines/riddims etc. Reggae drumming is quite hard to do well in my opinion...i've had some drummers slow so much it becomes painful, Enjoy the vibes
