1. If playing with my soul outfit i love playing Dusty's version of 'Son of a preacher man' - it's like a kind of stoned line, if playing reggae i quite like 'Johnny be Good' Peter Tosh version & if playing Ska then 'Ghost town' is good fun. Must confess to getting into my blues/jazz walking though at the mo and really enjoying 'Zoot suit riot' by the Cherry poppin Daddies...i don't play it note for note though.... i just do my own walk...with a few trips on the way (not the LSD type btw)

I love my BB414

I'm loving my recently acquired BB425 from Telebass off here. I haven't got a bad word to say about these basses...quite the opposite. I was pleasantly shocked at just about everything about the bass - plays beautiful, low action, looks great, extremely well built, perfect intonation, and awesome tone too. The neck profile reminds me of a few Lakland 5ers that i've past owned so that was a nice surprise also. I feel the GAS looming which often makes me think i should get a matching 424 - hmmm one needs money!!!. On my 425 the P pick up, with the current TI flats that are on it, makes for a killer dub/reggae tone which is ultimately what this bass is being used for, very chuffed with these basses... definitely one of Yamaha's jewel in the budget crown.
3. Just sold my bitsa P bass to Kert. Despite crappy Royal mail taking eons to deliver it finally got delivered and Kert was cool all along with there slow delivery- much appreciated. Enjoy the bass matey. Buyers & sellers can deal in total confidence, a credit to basschat
4. Recently bought some Wizard 64's Jazz PU's off Donny. True gent, great comms all round...recommend -cheers matey.
5. Have just done a cash/trade for Den's lovely BB425 Yamaha Bass. Totally top fellow all round & he even came around to deliver the bass pre his gig - brilliant!...Thankfully from not too far away though . Totally in love with the bass, in fact i'm quite blown away how good it actually is...will the fenders be taking a back seat???...ahem! . Anyhow, big thumbs up from me, buyers & sellers can deal in total confidence
6. Yeah man, bitsa Jazz, love it! Anyhow Precision bitsa is now gone, thanks for interest folks
7. I guess yeah. £250 posted with gig bag sound reasonable?
8. Need a 5 string for a new project. Anything considered, preference to jazz passive types. So onto my trade bait, my home assembled Bitsa P, well i think its a rather decent spec which cost me around the £300 mark to do, i guess i value it somewhere around there ish:

Nice light relic body, nothing scary! Not sure of origin, think its alder but not 100%...certainly not ply crap.
Might mighty, Lic by Fender maple neck with 70's decal added by the supplier, lightly varnished...was planning to get an aged tint but not got around to it.
Proper 70's cream Dimarzio pick up with adjustable pole pieces...good piece of proper vintage kit this.
Some vintage wiring loom from B/C's genius Kiogon with some old school russian capacitor thing, gives good tone.
Aged P knobs (dull crome)
Quality Schaller tuners.
Decent bridge, not sure of origin.
Fender neck plate.
This is a great players Precision bass and plays lovely with low action. I've obviously gone for a 70's replica ish look bar the change of better pick up, which is actually from the 70's. There was a small gap in the neck pocket on assembly which i shimmed with card, nothing to drastic but it keeps it tight. I will miss this as we have bonded quite well but admittedly I tend to play my thinner neck 4 string basses these days. However i needs a 5 string for some heavy dub coming up! Obviously its the right one in the pic below. There are some more detailed pics in this link but when it had a previous pick up prior to the now fitted cream Dimarzio. 9. What would i do??? Call the A team!!! ....i'll get my coat ...although on a serious note my band is in a similar situation. Once deps starting coming along though the main culprit is quick to want to be back in the driving seat
10. You wanna bad riddim fe mi woman - check English Girl by Sister Audrey/ Mad Professor...Vibronics did a version too. Great fun on the bass-bad ass riddim. 13. Wow so glad i read this. I was so close to considering buying a 70's Fender black jazz for £500 in Penzance, which is about a 90min drive for me. I emailed the guy who sent me more pics and offered postage rather than driving. I felt this is too good to be true and trusted my gut feeling...i did not maintain communication and bought a jazz of here instead which i now own proudly. Maybe i had a close miss...phew!
14. Blimey £50, i'm in Plymouth and would have taken this off your hands....could do with a 4x10!
15. I got down to two, back up to four...gotta love the variation
16. I've had to cancel a festival appearance ( Jubilee relates) due to tonsilitus ....gutted
17. Mine is vol vol tone tone. I actually love a combination of tone rolled off on the bridge but full on the neck...the wizard trads I got sound great too. The passive wiring was done by basschatter Kiogon, he did a fantastic job with screw terminals so no soldering was needed. The bass interestingly seems to still retain the Warwick mids...something in the woods/construction maybe??? I've always believed the wood thing was hype but now I'm not so sure
18. Just bought a nice MIJ Fender Jazz off Ash, top guy and good communications all round. Delivered this morning, gigged this afternoon at a local festival in the sunshine and now back at home staring at it ...more festival action tomorrow though Anyhow, buyers & sellers can deal in confidence. Thanks Ash
19. Another 94 slim necked green machine here... Love my Fortress, especially now it's passive with wizards ....great basses
20.
i chose fralin's in the end and i can't imagine anything being better. Just perfect old school p tones
Fralins every time...as used in Laklands old Duck Dunn P model
21. Dub reggae jam band Friday afternoon opening up Plymouths Volksfest, Saturday local wedding gig with soul band for pocket money and back to volksfest Monday with the soul band...should be a good weekend
22. Just bought an Eden Nemesis NA650 off Simon, great communications, friendly chap and agreed postage to Devon - brilliant all round. Big thumbs up for a great amp too - used at a reggae jam last night and it performed wonderfully; the Orange terror bass may get a summer rest Buyers/sellers can deal in confidence. Thanks matey

Feedback for teamcoy

Recently traded a Warwick Corvette for Matts Ashdown 4x8 cabs. Totally genuine and friendly chappy who is a credit to basschat. Delivered the cabs at my inlaws from Leeds to Birmingham too - true star. Thanks for a lovely trade Matt...buyers & sellers should deal in confidence.
24. I'm playing with a soul/funk outfit at the mo and i'm loving opening with Average White Band's 'Pick up the pieces'...then the vocalist comes on, or often we may open with Sam & Daves 'Hold on i'm coming'...depending on the venue really.
