1. A sunday eve perusal bump....some interest but no deals on the table to take her away
2. Bump for new trade possibilities and pics...as ever though cash is king
3. Hi, selling a few bits at the mo. This is my back up rig that, well to be honest, it never gets used. I bought it second hand for a lot more some time back and its been sitting in my living room ever since. Only used it once or twice as i mainly plug into my desktop computer for a 'living room jam'. It sounds nice and has some quality features, namely an octave sub harmonic feature...quite handy. Loud too!!! Oh and it it is a UK built model...apparently better than the later middle eastern models however i've never seen the newer models to compare. Its heavy so i guess were looking at collection from Plymouth Devon however if you want to arrange your own courier then i'll see if the Mrs is willing to use her packing magic. Can meet at Exeter for petrol monies. Bit of blurb here about them: http://www.zzounds.c...em--ASDMAGC410T
4. Another victim of my current financial hardship due to motor needs. I need to sell/trade down this beast in order to fund a car plus my musical direction has recently changed somewhat and i'm doing a lot of funk/soul rather than the reggae that i'm known for so this cabs not getting used as much as i would like....it needs to be used. My Dubster, 2x15 custom speakers, has done only a few gigs since its purchase late last year, mainly reggae/ska and it has performed awesomely, lightweight but heavy punch, lots of great comments from engineers about the sound and lots of surprised faces when they find they can lift it with one hand. I've also used it with my soul band and got a good nice warm PHAT sound. Check the spec here http://barefacedbass...nge/dubster.htm A great cab for the low end but with articulate mids too. Ideal for reggae, dance music, drum & bass, dubstep, death metal grind or whatever its called or even some deep down dirty lowend jazz funk rock...basically anything that needs to shake some serious foundations and no treble. Its got a few gig scratches here and there but nothing tragic or problematic, just typical gig use. Superb cab for the money. Anyhow i paid £750 for it, i'm looking for £550 + P&P/Courier etc... i've owned this cab from new since summer 2011 - i know i'll miss this one too. I may take a part trade for a cheap lightweight bass head and/or lightweight cab 2x10/ ideally a 2x12 cab...markbass, Genz benz etc Poss trade for car also (under 1K, cheap and cheerful diesel) ?
5. It really agonises me to do this but needs must I need a car plus i'm not using the 5 string a lot at the moment and it feels criminal to have this beauty sitting in its case when it needs to be played. It will probably be the best bass i have ever owned as it phenomenal in every way but then i guess a lot of you already know how good these DJ5's are. I know i will regret parting with this one. Soooo.... we have my Lakland Daryl Jones skyline 5 string, 2006, Aero picks ups (amazing!), strap locks and padded strap, Hiscox case, Black Sparkle (A bit like a metallic black-very pretty), 35 inch scale for that legendary tight Lakland B string, Hipshot tuners. Low action and plays like sex (Sorry thats the only think i could think of ) It has a few typical gigging dinks here and there, this bass has been used and is a real work horse let alone probably one of the best passive 5 string jazz basses out there in my opinion. So if your after a pristine show piece then look elsewhere but there is nothing that affects playability, just typical gigging dinks that were on it when i received it from another basschatter. Looking mainly for a cash sale, bank transfer is best. Happy to post/courier as long as costs are covered in the final price - i will get the wife to extra bubble wrap etc etc. Selling for less than i paid - so £750 + P&P .....Right where are those tissues I'm also selling a Barefaced Dubster cab - See amp/cabs section. Could i guess trade for VW Golf/Polo, Peugeot 306 or similar....looking for a cheap under £1K run around - must be diesel too, ideally an estate - can add a bit of cash if needs be....if this bit is against the rules then my apols mods...feel free to delete.
6. Yup a great place to trade in B/C world...simply two fingers to evilbay and your extortionate costs. All we need now is a B/C bank...with...er.... interest free credit cards etc
7. Amongst may other uses these pedals make the most awesome funky envelope filter sounds i've ever heard (and i've tried quite a few over the years)...and with the expression pedal a whole new world opens up. It took me a while to get used to mine but once i did... kaboom-these things are the shiz!!! Great piece of kit...have a bump too
8. Hahaha...i was just about to start a JV porn thread when i thought hmmm best check there isn't one already - good job i did. Anyhow bought a 1983 JV Precision about a month ago now and loving it to freakin' bits. I'm a tad confused to what the wood it is, even if the body is original??? - it looks like tiger stripes ish...its pretty anyhow - its also stamped LX in the neck pocket, see bottom picture...have any of you other JV owners got anything like this??? I'm a bit clueless about these things to be honest. I've managed to get a reissue bridge (cheers Luke ) as the previous was non standard and i've changed the pickguard as the previous was a bit...well lets just say pepperoni style and knackered. I've also replaced the original Squier 83 pickups for some late 70's DiMarzio's to try them out for a bit and have also fitted some new electrics (big thanks to Kiogon) that have a vintage circuit and some special PIO capacitor thingy - its very good indeed and i recommend Kiogons kits for £25...plus no soldering needed - check on here in B/C ville. Anyhow the result is astounding!!! I totally prefer the DiMarzio's (so far) to the originals as it is a lot more defined and has a bit more low mids, very hot too...lots of funkput - but smooth at the same time. Alas do not fear though the original Squier electrics with the raised A string poles on the pickup will be going in a new bitsa P currently under construction. Why do they raise the A string poles anyhow???? So, JV Squiers eh??? Fenders best kept secret???...my mate prefers my JV to his US 77 P...and to be honest i do too. So some pics of Angel:
9. Same again here-big thumbs up!!!, John made up a P-bass wired kit with the special PIO capacitors for my JV P. Sounds totally awesome and coupled with the 70's D'marzio pick up that i have just fitted i'm in P heaven. Top quality build and a great chappy to deal with. I know where i shall come in future for my bass electrics needs. Thanks John
10. Just bought a Mighty might P neck off Mark. A Great item and well decorated Mark is a top feller to deal with, with great communications along the way too. Buyers & sellers can deal in confidence.
11. PM sent regards the Squire body if still available.
12. I can't play slap for shizzle, but then i rarely practice it tbh...but i do love listening to it and have always loved Marcus's clean tone lots. I do love the dirty funk monsters too...this clip kinda sounds like a funkagasm frenzy of strangled groovatrons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK5IFyo0k0Q
13. The OTB is the answer to many prayers, mine included!
14. Er....Michael Schumacher?
15. Even i'm going to this, had a nice invite to it. Quite looking forward to it too; i'm not usually into 'heavier' stuff but i have to say Les Claypool is awesome (as are the rest of the band!)
16. I'll take the Dimarzio P, pm'd
17. I love my bitsa jazz more than any other jazz i've had to date, it has an early 70's style neck, bit chunkier at the rear but still narrow a the nut. Overwound Lindy Fralins, Bad Ass and a Jap body (i think). Have to confess to having a serious bit of JV P love at the mo...a recent purchase off here - tremendous!
18. Her: So what football team did you say you play for again?
19. Recently purchased a 1983 JV Squier off Sid. Top fellow, did a good deal with me on the bass and good communications throughout. Thoroughly trustworthy chappy in my opinion and experience. Although we've both discovered Parcelfore are a bit sh*te at times (they were late on delivery...again) - i have sent them a nice email as my last 3 purchases have not gone without issues from their service, lets see if they take any notice-Parcelfarce!. Anyhow all in all a great purchase and a very happy JV owner this end. Thanks Sid, top marks
20. I visited Guitar Guitar over Xmas whilst visiting the outlaws in Brumingham. Was very impressed with their shop, stock and friendly staff-they're very helpful and will let you try out lots of gear without pressure etc...however as mentioned the majority staff do seem to have cock rock long hair
21. A simple line to play running around the living room with ya P & underpants http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lovm1Re6fw
22. Yeah Lost trident sessions is a favourite...but for hangovers 'Visions of the Emerald Beyond' it is...great stuff! I've even got a Mahavishnu t-shirt. Shakti anyone?
23. I've had two of the 'cricket bat' headless Hohner 5's and two 4's in the past. Pretty good overall although i found the the B string was a little flappy and not consistent in tension or sounds with the other strings.... however i've heard there are new, tighter, strings on the market that maybe able to resolve this issue. Also i bought a Synapse hook from Steinberger from the US and fitted one to enable the bass to sit more comfortable, definitely worth a look if your not comfortable with the strap hooking. But all in all good basses and a steal if you can pick up a second hand one for around £200 ish...great dub reggae tones too. Merry Christmas
