Ashdown Superfly in very good condition with cover. This is the 2x250w model (500W total). The side casing was removed by the previous owner as this is known to reduce the heat (helps with cooling). I think it looks better like this. Bought as a back up from previous owner, never used by me other than testing. Nice and lightweight and has the Ashdown cover too. Great cheap 500W lightweight amp. £100 posted Info: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=156
Weirdly I think I prefer it to my SVT
I sold my Ampeg SVT Pro4 shortly after getting the OTB as it sounded similar if not better, although i think the EQ capability was better on the SVT. I'm using the OTB with my Barefaced Dubster cab and its the best (an lightest) set up i've had for heavy dub reggae sounds and its really doing the phat business...love it to bits but like some say about the Stingray bass sound its a bit of a one trick pony in the amp world - but a bloody great trick.
This used to be mine (it's a Retrospect 5) & the build quality is much better than you'd expect at this price. It has one of the comfiest 5 necks I've played - I only sold it on as I didn't really need more than 4 strings & if I had more space then I'd have kept it! Cheers, B.
Cheers, yeah its a great bass indeed...wish i could keep it but the wife's orders. The neck really is a joy to play.

Barefaced Dubster - serious dub & a heavybass lightweight
Raslee replied to Raslee's topic in Amps and Cabs
Got to have one!!! How does it sound playing jazz or metal? Edit: I'm aware that it has little trebble; I'm not really a treble kinda guy.
I don't play metal and my jazz certainly has no insurance , i guess you could play anything through it but its gonna sound bass heavy like a reggae/dub feel - hence its name i suppose . The mids cut through nice which gives the cab good definition in the deep range so you don't get that muffled low bass where every note sounds the same. I would rate this cab for dance music bass to i.e. Dubstep, Drum & Bass & fx etc -
A box with a grill on the front.
You beat me to it ! Anyhow. The Dubster: Specs: http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/dubster.htm Punchs way above it's weight -
Got my Dubster cab yesterday from Alex at Barefaced, top feller indeed. Tried it at rehearsal the same day and the Earth moved a micro degree off its axis! The drummer who plays a TD12 through his own PA (Loud Reggae Sound system stylie..i.e. loud drummer) said he thought his teeth came loose. First impressions is this is the holy grail of reggae cabs for me. I have to admit to have had some time yoyo'ing between neo speakers and back to heavyweights but this thing shifts some serious air and is neo. My Orange Terror bass was on 1/3 of its vol, low gain too and the bass just rode above the rest of the sound as heavyweight dub should be, no treble but defined and not wooly...but mostly phat. This cab is incredibly light too, something that i was also sceptical about regarding tone but again it's a bonus and it defies all the scrambled logic i believed - top marks to Barefaced, you've made a reggae cab - Heavy bass & a lightweight carry (that'll keep the Mrs happy).
Yes i was semi interested in that one, looks nice, but i'm a sucker for my Laklands and am taking Bigwan up on his 5501 which ticks all the boxes for me
Mate if you like Jazz basses why not get the MIM, change the strings to a tighter kind..like the hex core, DR low riders.. and add some more focused pups..i did this to a 5 string jazz and it worked.. those strings mad a big difference to a more focussed tone on the B.. will tighten up the B no doubt... i know you have had a JO before but the 55-01 has a great B.. especially with some FatStacks... Or maybe a Korean made MTD..
That's great advice on the strings mate, never tried DR Low riders...do they do them in flat wounds?, i've got some Labella flats at the mo and they're wonderful. I'll have to look up the Korean MTD's.
For that money you could get a second hand German made Warwick Corvette or Fortress. I unequivocally advise getting one of these.
Really, i've not seen any Warwick 5 er's below £400...i'll keep my eye out - there is a Corvette on eBay but its going to be a few weeks before i'm financially in the game.
Lakland 55-01... *SHAMELESS PLUG MODE ON* see my sig *SHAMELESS PLUG MODE OFF*
ah, yummy....pics ?

Just about to get a new Barefaced cab and then i shall be on the hunt for a 5 string (again). Having got over the recent financial difficulties which witnessed me parting with my beloved Lakland JO5 to survive i am now looking to get something to fill that gap, almost . The Lakalnd in many way was the perfect 5 but i cannot justify spending that amount on a 5 string bass these days and my budget is fixed after getting my cab. So far i've been looking at second hand G&L L2500's that fit the price range but i am also very intrigued by these new Warwick Rockbasses on eBay from the U.S.A...not sure which one but probably the Fortress or the Corvette with the latter being marginally cheaper-anyone got any experience of these basses? It's hard to find reviews on them too, especially about the B strings!!!. I've also read a few reviews about the MIM Fender Jazzes which have not tempted me, flappy B's etc but i do really like Jazz basses; my only 4 string now is a jazz. I play mainly reggae, ska, dub & some funk & rock occasionally; i play a lot of covers too where versatility is useful. In the past Ii've tried the 5 string cricket bat basses too which are great for reggae but again flappy B syndrome...the Lakland had the best B i think i've ever tried but am aware thats probably due to the 35" scale. Any thoughts or recommendations my fellow bass brethren ?

Has anyone tried these new Rockbasses? I'm possibly considering one when i can afford, or maybe a G&L L2500, but haven't seen much reviews on the new Rockbasses to date.

Just sold an Ampeg 4x10HLF to Dave, hassle free throughout-top feller indeed. The Mrs enjoyed the feedback on the packing too, bless her. B/Cer's can buy/trade in confidence here.
Ta for the pics. I`m having a good hard think about replacing an SVT410+SVT15 with this. MM
Yeah they cover all bags really the SVT 4x10 HLF, i used to use a 15" and 4x10 and then went to two SVT 4x10 HLFs, the sound was monstrous with the Eden head that i had at the time that did 2ohms-also i found the wheels and bar really useful for lugging the cab around compared to having to carry my previous cabs. Anyhow i found 1 was more than adequate and sold the newer of the two HLF's as this one seemed the warmer of the two...perhaps because its been used. They also pair awesome with the Orange Terror bass head. Proper sounds!!!
