Wow, i really cannot believe this has not sold yet Rich . Someone is seriously missing out on a great jazz here. I know this because this Jazz used to be mine and i spent 5 hours in Mansons in Exeter having tried loads of jazzes, MIA's, MIJ's etc before settling for this new mexican build jazz bass - a beautiful neck too. This one stood out by far and i could barely believe that this was a mex as it played so much better than my prejudices would believe. To me it felt better than the USA's i tried and i tried quite a few that day...and that was with the mex at stock-before the mod's. I paid over £400 then for a stock bass. With the Delano's, badass and the other mod's Rich has done this is a steal of bass...if i didn't have such a great playing jazz that i have now i would have this back in a shot....a buyer will very happy with this bass - have a bump Rich.

TRADED: Rare Jonas Hellborg Sounds of Sweden bass
watchin the linked jonas vid` it reminds me of how much i loved his playing but couldn`t cope with the gurning he used to do!! funny as hell. i notice he doesnt do it any more. awesome player and a rare lovely bass. cool
Haha yeah i know what you mean about the gurning - amazing playing skills though I may eventually consider a cash sale if something comes along that i like but i haven't had chance to look through the for sale section at the mo. Also i'm not 100% sure what i want to replace it with yet......maybe a P, Jazz, Warwick or something else quirky - may consider a cheaper bass or a lightweight cab plus some cash too. Thanks for the nice comments, it is indeed a very cool bass......especially for those solo players i should imagine. -

25 yrs old (ish) Jonas Hellborg Sounds of Sweden bass, Passive, loads of groove kudos, plays beautiful and a great range of tones through the Shadow pick ups - see video below. I think Jonas played Wals a lot therefore maybe some Wal influence in this bass...then again maybe its nothing like a Wal. Either way this truly is a great bass and is wasted on a simple 3-4 note reggae playing geeza like moi despite it probably being the best sounding bass i've played in a while......it also has 27 frets and to be honest i don't think i've hardly ever gone past the 10th fret - i'm too lazy to practice too . This bass is clearly more suitable to a jazzer/fusion/funky/ super talented type. Here is a funky ass funk Jonas super talented virtuoso playing the same type of bass but black : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh_Z1kt5iR4 I'm led to believe that mine is very rare being a natural colour unlike the black one in the vid. Info/ geek spec on the bass here from a previous seller http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=hellborg & some pics. More pictures here: https://picasaweb.google.com/Mr.LeeStone/Jo...140977875105794 Trades, well looking for something like a good P bass or a Warwick of some description....4's or 5's - a five jazz possibly or w.h.y. Quite happy to keep this quirky bass if nothing suitable comes up but would rather it go to someone who will do it justice and play them 27 frets....this bass needs playing Happy to do postage or come and play for yourself. Plymouth based.

I'm using a Boss LS-2, i have a Boss multi FX ME-6 on the separate loop and blend both the bass sound and a synth sound from the multi fx for that phat Mad Professor dubsynth sound. Just for extra effect i use a wah back just before the return on the LS2 and control the filter of the synth...bloody phat and great techno bass sounds too but the great thing with the LS is that you can set the level of bass to effected bass sound so i can maintain the phat natural dub bass sound. Really rate the LS-2 for its price.

Hi, selling this project bass that i've done in order to fund another. It is a nice Squire neck with a Fender decal done rather well on a nice aged cream 90's Hohner Professional range Jazz body with the Hohner electronics inside. The neck has had 'Mother of pearl' block stickers added to good effect, these are easily removable (not all are exact positioning but it looks good IMO). I was going to change the pick ups for some Fender ones but i was very impressed with the Hohners as they have a really good range and a mid 'growl/honk' - good jazz bass sounds in other words. All in all nice cheap Jazz bass, plays well, intonation is brilliant and the action is low without buzzes - looks nice & plays nice too. Has D'addrio strings fitted, can put used flats on if you prefer. Pictures here How's £160 posted, £150 collected or may trade for maple P neck (All parts, Mighty might etc + cash either way) Softcase or tattyish hard case extra £10 Also have a Fender Jazz ashtray £10 if interested for this bass, it's not been fitted to date.
Bought the most amazing Musicman ray off Mick, a diamond gentleman to deal with. Buyers can buy in confidence. Thanks Mick
And i promised Mick i would give him first refusal if i was to re sell the bass in the future. Well i did just that and Mick bought the bass back hassle free. A lovely reunion for Mick, and am glad the Musicman enjoyed its short vacation to Devon. Micks a top guy and easy to deal with, buyers & sellers can trust him with confidence.
That's lovely, like it! Here's mine - very happy with how it turned out.
That looks lovley Nick - loving the pickguard combo, how well does it play? I'm really chuffed with mine as the set up was relatively painless, i shimmed the neck with a business card and the action is now superb and the intonation is great too. I ended buying a relic squire body the other day so P bitsa 2 could be happening very soon....oh dear this could become a new obsession

A good thread from the OP : I have to say i've come full circle having tried LOTS of basses over the last few years, some expensive, in a search for 'the one' & 'my sound'. I'm now settling on building my own which so far has been the most satisying and dare i say the most 'settling'. My bitsa jazz has a nice 70's thick Allparts neck & some Lindy Fralins...i've built it out of bits and have been hard pushed to find a better playing or sounding jazz IMO. My recent project is a P bass which started life as a Sue Ryder bass, with the mods totalling around £200 i've struggled to find a better playing P (apart from expensive old ones)...but the point is you can be happy on a budget i guess. Although i have found since i've been getting into 'bitsa' basses my collection is building again from 3 to 6 with 2 more potensial bitsas on their way I can here the wifey now "you only have one pair of hands etc etc....yawn yawn yawn"
Nice, just got some on ebay for £15 brand new. I'm going to try them out either in my Squire P-bass or maybe the Sue Ryder.
Let me know how you get on as a i'm thinking of getting some for a second P bitsa project i'm about to start. As say I was realy impressed with the ones i put in a VMJ in the past, prefered them over the Duncan design piuckups and for £20 ,for the jazz bass, they were a steal. I also fitted some to a friends grieftar years ago and he was really impressed over the stock Fender PU's too.
