1. Mostly i aspire to get a good reggae sound like Bob Marley's bass player - Aston 'Familyman' Barrett - his sound is pure bass. Mainly i play the neck pick up and tone rolled off and play close to the neck. My amp settings contriubte a lots also, mainly the bass frequencies with a little mid to add definition to the dub vibrations sound. I don't do treble really unless wanting to get funky - then i like Bootsy Collins

3. Is there such thing as a jack or speakon cable that you buy that will put two speakers in series, i guess some kind of 'Y' cable maybe?. I've got two 4ohm cabs and would like to put them in series to make 8ohms.

It is with much great sadness that i have to let this baby go but financial issues are on the horizon so there we go...i won't bore you with the details - out of my four basses i've whittled it down to this one to go yet its probably my favourite but not the most practical for my bands sounds & needs . For Sale: Well, it is essentially a Pre Ernie Ball Musicman 79 ray 2EQ, the electrics are not all original though but as good as, if not better - please read on ! The pick ups have been replaced at some point for a Norstrand but it is a Pre EB equivelent, the MM 4.2 - More info here. The Pre amp has also been replaced to a Pre EB equivelent using the John East BTB MMSR - More info here I have no idea what happened to the original pick ups as the bass was fitted with these when i got it about a year ago, having played it against another 78 Pre EB there was no audible difference in sound that either me or my mate could here....mine actually was the nicer bass to play, no buzzes, good frets etc. The body has been refinsihed to a nice maroon colour, i don't know if this was the original colour but it looks very nice. It's a real players bass and is 31 years old so it has dings, scratches, "mojo" etc but nothing that affects playability issues. It has the pure Pre EB sound with the classic musicman zing but with an added warmth that perhaps comes with age, suybjective. Mutes are missing but who really uses them anyway? Plays lovely and has a great character too, neck is sexy (couldn't think of a better word). Currently fitted with flatwounds for that true Bernard Edwards sound....god i will proper miss this bass - if i get a decent scratch card in the next several days i will be most definatelty withdrawing!!! I shall get pictures up soon when i can find our camera which seems to have gone on vacation, however i can send by request pictures via my Iphone, however the quality is not particularly great with the phone camera. Attached is a few very cheesey pictures i've got on my mac right now so you can at least see what it looks like until i find this elusive camera. Money wise looking for [s]£900[/s] £850, that'll include postage too - no hard case but got a soft case and a legend packer - the wife, Bass will be sent insured of course. Or you are most welcome to try it and have a cup of tea if you fancy a day trip out to not so sunny Plymouth. Scroll down for further pictures Newly added: May consider trade plus cash my way for a lightweight neo cab 400W ish i.e.Bareface, TC, Markbass etc
9. A true gentleman on bass chat, always a pleasure to seamless deals with Rich. A credit to here. Thanks Rich.
10. I have found his Groove Workshops DVD's the most inspiring bass video's to date...i love his spirituality about bass playing.
11. Great read. Our sax player wants to do "Eat that question' - a bit far out for some one who's not used to playing more than 3 notes per tune.
12. Jammed Lonnie's 'Expansions' last weekend with my first jam of casual funk project, great fun!!! Bloody Cobhams Stratus is a serious case of RSI...great tune though - seems i got a new side band yay
13. Ghostown by the Specials & Nightboat to Cairo by Madness required me to play more than my usual 3 notes but it was not so challenging playing a 4th note
14. My bulbs a bit dodgy, does anyone know a replacement? I sooooooo love this amp though - a lots of people are talking about the BT in the rock & metal arena but i'm getting a great phat dub tone and am also going to try it with a funk band tommorrow
15. Aston 'Familyman Barrett' - The Wailers Bootsy Collins Mike Howlett - Gong
16. Actually i've got an aged looking Warmoth P neck, fretless, Rosewood, that i'm considering selling...it's very nice (I'll even throw in a decal )
17. PM'd multi FX and poss Wah.
18. I wanted to hump the daughter of a husband and wife guitar duo, so we got a crap band together where i played bass....by which point the daughter had found someone else - i then changed bands
19. Haha wicked i'm playing this on Sunday. For the first time in years me & a drummer have organised a 7 piece FUNK ensemble too tickle our funk glands and see if they still exist having been in the dub for so long!!! - we're hoping to have a casual funk every month. Stratus was a tune mentioned to learn, along with Cissy Strut, Starsky & Hutch, Lonnie liston's Smith's 'Expansions' and er i think Chameleon oh and Fred Wersley's 'Fourplay'....I'm after music for the middle bit in Starsky & Hutch by the way (too lazy to work it out) - also need to work out the Stratus outro - It is a mother of a tune on the wrist that main riff, endurance! Suggestions for tracks for our 'Learner' funk (or rejuvenating old funkateers) welcome......
20. Bloody bargain!!! I've put delano's in my Jazz, superb pick ups!!!
21. Gonna see if i can re-start the old funk gland with a couple of old mates soon. I'm looking for the transcriptions or tab or whatever for Starsky & Hutch theme (JTQ), The middle breakdown bit in Chameleon (not the main groove, i've worked that out easily enough) & The outro on Billy Cobhams 'Stratuss' (I haven't listened to this for a while but i think i know the other bits) Also any suggestions for simple instrumental funk covers (we got sax & keys aswell as drums & geeeetar) ? Much thanks

A dub remix

A half decent trip hop/dub remix of one of my band Dubclass's tracks Gonji ina Dub - Hope you like it?
23. Yeah all fitted, its not the four knob deluxe version but the three knob, all knobs though are there too. Very simple change over as solderless, it has screw terminals. Jack is on the plate so just a simple swap over job - no drilling or need to make any holes etc. Some review stuff here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=429951
24. SOLD: Got this recently on a bass that i bought from here, although it is an amzing piece of kit it's probably a bit adavanced for my needs - i'm more of a simplez passive guy. More info here: http://www.bestbassgear.com/acg-eq-02-j.htm £90 includes P&P
