6.
Someone I know who went, put it rather bluntly, if she was a Kate Bush Tribute, she would get paid off, her voice left her a long time ago. He said it was the empresses new clothes, thousand clapping away kidding themselves, all thinking inside, its a bit poo really but if I admit it everyone will laugh. Luckily he did not pay for the ticket, but wishes he took the £1500 on offer outside for it from the touts.
Sorry mate, that's b*****x. Everyone has an opinion and all that, but she can still sing. Like everyone else, her voice has lost the top of the register due to age. But she made best use of what she has. Not impressed with Bertie, though...
 7.
As a Kate fan, I agree with this. Not going to the gigs (too late to get tickets, too far away, too expensive) but I'm delighted she's doing the Ninth Wave, the conceptual stuff from Aerial and whatever the hell she wants. I'm equally glad she's not doing "the hits" from the first 2 albums, there are already enough sad nostalgia acts plodding 'round the circuit trading on who they were 40-odd years ago. I somehow doubt the 50-something Kate Bush feels a lot of connection with songs she wrote when she was 17. DVD? Can't wait! Jon.
I was there on Friday and thought it was a fantastic show. The first half in particular will take some beating by any performer. There were a couple of songs I was not impressed with, but a lot of people there were - that's what gigs are like! One of our crowd said it was the best show she had ever been to - and she has been to a lot! John.
 8.
anything mentioning: funk, jazz, pop, classic rock, covers band, tribute band, glam rock, Rush, Jaco, Beatles I'll add as I think of more
So, a folk man, eh?
 9. Coincidence - Listening to Blackbeard's Tea Party now. Saw them at Cropredy last weekend - completely brilliant!
 10. I was there too! Got a bit wet but sod it - went down the front for a knees up with my mates wife, Ali.
 11.
A place called the Scream Lounge. Another nice little venue with a great sounding PA and decent band facilities. Performance-wise it went a lot better than the pervious night. However our total audience including the promoter, PA engineer, bar staff and Boppin' B was less than 20... Still Sunday's gig at Camden Underworld is reportedly sold out.
Well, that must have improved, then. I went there three times and the sound was really awful. All volume and no balance. This could be a reason for the low turnout. From what you are saying they seem to have a better sound man now. I shall check it out once more...
 12.
First night of our mini tour supporting German rockabilly band Boppin' B. The venue, Rigger in Newcastle-Under-Lyme is great. Boppin' B are really nice people. It's a pity then that almost no-one showed up and our set was marred by technical problems. Firstly during the soundcheck, our guitarist discovered a kink in the E string of his newly installed strings that coincided with one of the notes he used a lot a made it sound dead on just that note. Cue a lot of string swapping to sort it out. Cut our set short so that we can start later and hopefully play to more than a handful of people. During the second song the bass cuts out completely. Go through my usual troubleshooting routine. Stop using the wireless and switch to my backup lead. Wait for a suitable moment in the song to come back in and… still nothing. Note that now the Pod is getting signal but still nothing coming out of the speakers. Then spot that the power light on the Thumpinator has gone out. As far as I can tell it's still connected so I simply bypass everything except the amp and i have sound again. It's not exactly the sound I want, but it will do. Unfortunately it takes almost 5 minutes to reach this state which has killed the momentum of the set and the vibe. Get through to the end although the songs where I use drive sound weird without it. However not all is lost apparently despite almost no-one being in the venue, they were most impressed by the band and want to offer us a Friday or Saturday slot later in the year. This morning I check over the rack and discover that the wall-wart PSU that powers my wireless receiver and the Thumpinator had become unplugged just enough to stop delivering power to both units killing both the start and end of my rack's signal chain. All fixed now and looking forward to doing it all again tonight in Croydon - hopefully to a few more people.
In Croydon! Which venue? Must be near my house....
 13. They are really rather good, I think. Sounds like four players even when I know it's two...
 14. A mate of mine gave me a Gibson Epiphone acoustic two weeks ago for helping him with his race bike. I was a bit emabrassed, tbh. Not Brazillian levels of embarrassment, but, nice thought...
 15.
So I am sitting here reading through some of the posts on here and there always seem to be somebody complaining about something or another when there is a debate going on throwing there toys out of the pram if some one else says something that they don't agree with it is not just on basschat that this happens it is on other sites too I must admit I sit here and laugh to myself at the thought of some one getting all steamed up banging away on there keyboards in anger or complaining to mods about people like little school children when there really is nothing to complain about. So why take it so seriously it is only the internet I can understand getting upset if somebody is personally attacking you but 9 times out of 10 people just have no sense of humour and take it all to seriously. So do you guys think it is funny like I do or do you think it should be all regimented and serious would love to hear your views on this
Christ, mate - how about chucking a few commas and full stops in, eh...?
 16.
Music is intrinsically linked to memory for just about everybody, Graham, myself included. As Oscar Wilde said , music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory. Recall and romantic association are central to how music affects us . Every time I hear Stars by Simply Red I think I am in a takeaway waiting for a pizza . Every time I hear the Dave Mathews Band . I feel like I am being tortured at Guantanamo Bay all over again.
Every time I hear Simply Red I feel as if I am still being tortured...
 17. Now you're talking...... ..hang on...... Bah - fooled again...
 18. Well, it looks like there are as many approahces to playing as there are players... I have just started to take scales and pentatonics more seriously and, it seems, they help me quite a bit. Still class myself as a beginner, but it [seems] to be helping me 'listen' to what I am doing. If that makes any sense.
 19.
Yep, Paddock hill Was having a little scrap with a ducati and the last lap flag caused me to go in a gear too high and about 20mph too fast. Bounced off the tyre wall.
Ah yes - been through that one on a sidecar.
 20. That gravel trap looks comfy. Brands...?
 21. I use one of those Vox amps - nice kit. I have also used some cheap headphones which are all un-nice. Recommendation - buy un-cheap ones.
