  1. Right, had a mess about with the amp plugged into a cab. When the master is at zero even if the gain is zero, the clip light stays on when you hit any string. Move the master off zero, to say 9 o`clock, you can boost the gain up to over half way and the clip light only comes on at the peaks, as it should. Must be something to do with the relationship between the gain and master.
  2. Just picked up one of these from Thomman as I got some Crimbo cash. The active/passive switch is still the wrong way round and in passive mode, the red gain light comes on constantly even when the gain is at zero!! Passive P bass. Any ideas?
  3. The other guy is Lee. Nathan is a sh*t hot player whether on bass or guitar. But Dood`s videos are cool as well!
  4. The live Dead from 72 to 74, my favourite era! Whats the name of your band Dave? Any clips? Lovely looking bass but I can get away with 3 strings and sometimes 2
  5. Hey Mbm. Just my experience. My first band was a charity band put together to do 1 gig. Even though I hadn`t played in a band before, I quickly sussed out that the band was crap basically. But I got on really well with the drummer, we are mates and have found myself in various projects with him over the years. So maybe you should try and broaden your horizons a bit and play with people that you might not have considered before? What have you got to lose?
  6. NOW SOLD.
  7. It`s not a slab as they had maple boards and this has a rosewood board. Cliff played this one or a similar one (they weren`t well off at this time so I guess it was a band owned instrument) in his early days after Mark left. It can be seen in clips from 77.
  8. He`s the guitarist? Get shot of him, there`s loads about!! Couldn`t have put it better myself.
  9. Having taken on board the advice of the crack Basschat legal team 😁 and a text or two, I have come to the conclusion that the guy isn`t a scammer trying to rob me of my immense wealth and property, he just seems to do things in a more "relaxed" manner than myself. It`s not how I would conduct myself in a sale/buying situation but we are all different. I will hold the bass for him unless someone comes along before him and offers me the cash which I will grab with my sweaty mitts! Lets remember what the wise Sargent said....
  10. Ta guys. I may have totally the wrong end of the stick here and maybe the guy is genuine but there are so many con artists on GT. Good advice re the paypal.
  11. I posted my Yamaha bass on Gumtree recently. I got a reply from a English guy living in Glasgow, super keen and he wanted to pick it up on Thursday. I couldn`t speak to him on the phone due to his work commitments but got him on Thursday evening. He wanted to come over and get the bass today, Friday and asked for my address. He was coming by train so I offered to collect him at the station and run him back so I didn`t pass on my address. Got a text from him today saying a friend might run him over so could I give him my address, so it saves me coming out to collect him and I give him my address. Around 5 30, I get a text from him saying something has come up but he really wants the bass and could I hold it for 1 week! He says he is willing to transfer £20 to my account to show "good faith" so could I give him my bank details. Alarm bells are now ringing so I tell him no need to send any money, if the bass is still here he can have it. That was 3 hours ago and I have had no reply. It may just be me but he has went from super keen on Wednesday to can`t pick up the bass on Friday and can I keep it for a week and give him my bank details. Does this story sound familiar to anyone? I could be completely wrong and the guy could be telling the truth but the old Spidey sense is tingeling.
  12. Still here, all lovely, shinning and ready to rock!!
  13. P7 for me. Gigged mine last Saturday and it was just dandy. Just because I like a P bass with a Jazz pickup blended in and a lovely slim neck.
  14. Nah nah nah! I`m not having this! Mr Discreet without a P bass in his arsenal? This Jazz bass loving fool is an imposter and I demand that whoever has abducted the real Mr D gets him and his P bass back sharpish!! ( Nice bass by the way)
  15. To the top.
  16. I am also a jammy bugger having pre ordered at the original price. I don`t think I would have paid £50 for it. Still, Bernie Marsden brought out another book featuring his guitars and the cheapest edition is £99 and the most expensive is £999! There is a interview with Ged in this months Classic Rock mag about the book and other things.
  17. Meant to mention, the speed knobs aren`t original, it came with chrome knobs which I will of course include.
  18. By the way, the carpet has nothing to do with me! Just thought I would get that out there
  19. Price drop to £250 but that is as low as I`m gonna go.

  21. This video popped up on Andertons All about the bass today. It might help or maybe not....
  22. To be honest, I`m not really looking for "a sound" when I buy a bass. I usually just go "ooohhh shiny thing!" and it`s done usually.
  23. I will get some pics up when I change the tuners. The rolled edges make quite a difference, the neck is very comfy, something all basses should have but I imagine it would be costly. The fret ends are well finished as well, no jagged edges anywhere.
