On Monday I sent a bass via UPS. As soon as I put guitar in the item description box, a pop up said they would only insure the bass for damage to the value of £100 or the full amount if the bass was lost. And it had to go in a hard case. I insured it for the full amount anyway in case it got lost in their system and it cost me £18 to do so. Luckily it got delivered in perfect condition but never again. The thought of the bass being damaged and only being able to get back £100 was a worry that I won`t be going through again. On the plus side, they did tell me right away when I was booking the delivery.

I asked for that! 😊

The P bass is £50 more expensive than the Standard. Gotta admire Fender for their sheer brass neck. There are some reports online of dodgy qc with the 6 string guitars.

New Fender MIM Player series replaces Standard

Spot on Lozz. Why do some of us bass players fall for it every time. And I like Fenders! Whatever the reason, and I realise there are many, these Mexican Fenders are a shocking price compared to what they were a few years ago. They have squeezed my lemon for the last time! (But I reserve the right to buy a Mustang PJ but the price of these has dropped £50 🤨). -
Just sold my Sire to Chris. Top man, don`t hesitate to deal with. Thanks man Gerry

They are great basses but the one I had had a very chubby neck or real handful if you like. Not my cup of tea. I had one of the even cheaper, HB PB 20 Standard bass, £85 delivered. It was a decent enough bass but changing the tuners and bridge made it a whole lot better for about £50. The wiring and pick up were ok.

There is a Thunder 1A for £225 and a Spectrum ST in Guitarguitar for £145, a bit beat up but looks kinda cool. I bought a passive Thunder for £50 a few years ago in the local crack converters. It was in a bit of a state but it cleaned up ok. I had never seen one before and it was quite ugly so I sold it for £55. I should have kept it as the pickup was rather good.

Funnily enough, I played the Beat Generator in Dundee twice and had a great time. However one of the support acts "accidentally" lifted our lead guitarists Gibson SG`s. He got them back.

That Elton gig must be cool. Dee Murray had a lot of nice bass lines.

In my band it`s the lead player who I have volume issues with. Last gig he played through a mic`d up Peavey 100 watt head and 4 x 12 cab belonging to the venue. At sound check he was far too loud and was told so by me and the very good sound man. He was complaining he could hardly hear the amp and I told him his hearing must be gubbed as I was wearing ear plugs and it was still too loud. The sound guy told him to use in ears in the future but that ain`t gonna happen as he needs "his sound" Funnily enough, I have no problem with drummer boy and he could do with hitting them a bit harder!

Just had the bass out for a check over and a play. Imo you cannot get a better bass for the retail price and as I am selling it for £50 less than retail plus it has a set of nice balanced tension strings that have done 1 gig and there isn`t a mark on it, it`s a bargain. But I would say that wouldn`t I 😊. Please feel free to come and have a shot of it, tea and chocolate biccys, most likely kit kats, will be provided. (Other biccys are available, though not as tasty!). Or a drive to meet up somewhere is possible. Specs Body: Mahogany Neck: Maple Neck profile: C Fretboard: Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) Scale: 864 mm 20 Medium small frets Nut width: 38 mm Pickups: 2 Marcus Standard jazz bass single coils Marcus Heritage-3 Electronics with Frequency Control, Volume / Tone (Dual Pot), Pickup Blender, Treble, Middle / Middle Frequency (Dual Pot), Bass Mini Toggle (Active / assive) Colour: Antique white Made by Sire

I thought it was really good. The story of a band in it`s last outings as a live act.

****Now Sold**** As I am having issues with my left hand and am moving to using short scales, I have for sale only a Sire MM V3. The bass is in as new condition. It has a few changes: a set of Gotoh vintage style reverse tuners and I have changed the original plastic knobs for black metal ones which imo make the bass look a whole lot better. The original tuners and knobs will be included in the sale. It has an almost new set of D`addario nickel strings fitted. The original strap buttons will be put back on. The bass weighs about 4.5 kg. I believe that the pre amp is the same one fitted to it`s big brother which is amazing at the retail price never mind the price I`m looking for. No trades please and it`s collection only from Paisley where you can try it out or I`m willing to travel a bit to do a sale, just ask. A cracking Jazz bass in great condition, a great per amp with passive option for £150 less than a decent Squire.

There is a black passive model in a Glasgow pawn shop for £150. It`s in the window and I can`t really see what kind of nick it`s in.

Ta CM. I think that either it`s because it`s a bit porky or that I`m not keen on shipping it although I may have to rethink the shipping bit. And it`s a good price that won`t be going any lower. To be honest, the only reason for getting shot of it is I`m getting some problems with my left hand after hitting the muscle on the back of said hand, between the thumb and 1st finger with a 2 lb hammer 20 years ago. I`m going to get a decent short scale and see if the pain eases and if it does, all my 34" will be getting moved on.

Well Geddy is doing nowt and DC need a bass player 😆

Used mine on a gig last night. Master volume about 10, put eq at noon. The sound guy asked me to boost the high a little and it was done. What I did find strange is the di seems to be effected by any changes in the eq and master volume, which some of you guys are also saying. No option for just running a flat signal but it`s no biggie. If it had been a problem, the guy could have used my or his di box but the sound - P bass into Rumble - was sorted in 1 min which equals a happy sound guy! This combo is so easy to get a decent sound out of very quickly.
