When he started making vids with Rob Chapman aka Chappers, Rob thought that Lee needed a nickname so he started calling him the Captain. Simple as that!

I own 3 basses at the moment (lightweight I know) and I have bought them all from Guitarguitar. This isnt due to loyalty to GG it`s just that they had what I wanted at the right price. 2 were bought online, 1 from the shop. There is a local shop but the last time I was in there (which was a few years ago to be fair) they had a couple of packets of Rotosounds and a small selection of basses and guitars. Everything they had in stock was about £40 more expensive than going to any of the shops in Glasgow. I would like to support the shop but they don`t have what I want at the price others charge. And therein lies the problem for small shops. I try and buy from places that have actual shops and a good online store.

I have always said this about bands. Small things happen, maybe over the course of a year or two and unless they are nipped in the bud or sorted out these small events all build up to members getting fed up with the situation and walking. I guess most of us have been there. As the old saying goes, bands are great things apart from the tossers that are in them. I hope you get your band sorted as it sounds as if it was a good thing at one time.

I have owned a evo 3 and still own a evo 2. Great amps. I haven`t used a 600 but Guitarguitar had one s/h a few weeks ago for around £350. I payed £325 for my evo 2 from GG but it was s/h and I am very happy with it. I had an issue with it (but it was 10 years old and I don`t think the courier was very gentle with it) and Ashdown could not have been any more helpful and sorted the issue in a few days. I have seen the 500`s go from £220 to £280 ish. The 600 has more eq options but for me the 500 has enough. But I would go with the Lozz man opinions on the 600.

I love the song Burn but all this "voice of rock" stuff that seems to follow him around puts me right off the guy.

What famous musicians death most shocked you
jezzaboy replied to dmccombe7's topic in General Discussion
Your right! For me it`s more like the passing of someone that whilst I never knew the guy on a personal level, there was a time in my life when the music they created really meant something to me in my life for a multitude of reasons. -

When Marc Bolan died I remember the 11 year old me thinking that it was strange that he died in a Mini and not a Rolls Royce or some other expensive car. It`s weird the things that you remember. -

For me it was Cozy Powell, a monster drummer who played on most of my favourite records and was seemingly a right decent guy: Rick Parfitt, just cos it was Rick and he seemed indestructible and Tom Petty, someone who I only got right into a few years before his death, what a loss to music. The last one to shock me was Ted McKenna who died during a routine operation in January. -
Bugger, one of my local pubs. Had I not been gigging at that time, I would have been down there.

My mob are playing the Bonfest festival next Saturday in Kirremuir, in the town hall at 4 pm. Should be a good one.

Trace Elliott ELF vs TC Electronic BAM200 opinions?
jezzaboy replied to Dennis1971's topic in Amps and Cabs
Or if you don`t mind losing the fancy Toneprints, the TC BQ 500 is a decent head with enough power at £171 from Thomman with a 3 year warranty. Used it with a Barefaced 15` and was impressed. -
Hi Chris. Whereabouts in the country are you? Most of us have various amps and cabs kicking about and I`m sure that someone will be happy to invite you over so you can hear what is available. I`m far to young to know the gear you are using but bass gear has moved on so much in the years I have been playing and you may find that for a few hundred coins of the Realm, you can get some nice gear that will blow yer socks off!

The tuners on the new CV`s arent the same ones that are fitted to the MIM`s. I have a new Players Jazz in front of me and while they may be made in China, they look better quality than the CV`s. That was one of the reasons I bought the Player as I would have had to change the tuners. Can`t stand cheap tuners, just a personal thing.

Just done a deal with Paul. Prompt payment and good communication. Ta!

Just completed a deal with Steve for my Yamaha bass. Top man, good at keeping in touch and a painless deal. Thanks man. Gerry

I played the Dreadnought Rock club in Bathgate last Saturday and there was woman in her late 30`s standing about 6 inches away from the pa speaker with her right ear facing the speaker. Bloomin madness or drink maybe.

I had this up for sale, had second thoughts, withdrew it then the advert disappeared! I blame that black hole they found last week... Yamaha BB 1024 in vgc just some very light "swirls" on the back that are barley visible. One of the last batch that got sent to the UK. Strung with a fresh set of D`Addario`s and nicely set up. There is a whole topic on these basses on the forum if you need more info. Weight is 4.3 kg or 9.5 lb. I would much rather you came and collected the bass from myself in Paisley just outside Glasgow, where mint kit kats and coffee are freely available but I`m up for driving for a meet up, just ask. I`m not keen on posting the bass but I can box it up for you and you can arrange your own courier, I will have someone to be in to hand it over, just give me a couple of days to arrange the boxing. If you want to go down this route, I will drop the price a tenner to help with postage costs. UK only and bank transfer for payment. At this price, this is one of the best deals on the site and is only due to a recent bass purchase so I`m not looking for trades. Any questions pm please.

Just read that Paul died from a heart attack yesterday. A good few of us on here have grown up and loved UFO and for me, Pete Way was one of the reasons that I play bass. Paul was a large part of that band over the years and it`s sad to hear of his passing on their farewell tour. Sorry just seen this in off topic.

New Limelight v Custom Maruszczyk (or AN OTHER)
jezzaboy replied to lou24d53's topic in Bass Guitars
What about this second hand Sandberg? I have one the same in Sunburst and maple neck. Great value and active/passive with passive tone control. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VS4_SH.html -
There is a lovely Jap re issue Mustang in Guitarguitar at the moment for £579 s/h. If I had the cash I would be all over it.

Ashdown ABM 15th anniversary combo... Really that rare?
jezzaboy replied to classamin's topic in Amps and Cabs
You got a bargain there, I paid the same for an ABM 500 head. I seem to remember these were quite pricey when they came out, £700 +? -
There is a thread about the BQ on here. I used my 500 into a Barefaced Compact on a pub gig last night and it sounded good out front so I was told. Of course, being a pub gig with a 5 piece band, I couldn`t tell as I was standing 6 inches in front of the speaker! It`s a decent home practice tool and I stick it in a laptop bag and put it under the front car seat just in case it`s needed as a backup.

without that 59 or 69 P bass!!

GG in Glasgow have the sunburst Jazz with the maple neck. And very nice looking it is to. Didn`t plug it in as I had some cash and it might have been going home with me if it sounded as good as it looks. They are now made in Indonesia unlike the original ones which were Chinese. Don`t know if it makes a difference though.
