  1. This for sale advert has had 3300 + views and no firm offers. So I ask myself, who is looking at it? Is it the same person 3000 + times? In the meantime here is a picture of my cute little bundle of fur named Roxy. Woof!! Or it`s more of a Yip really.
  2. I just picked up a Vintera Mustang and the build, fit and finish is spot on. You don`t expect to find faults in a £800 bass. But as you say, Good old Fender! It`s like Forrest says, you never know which one your gonna get!
  3. This is something I keep coming back to. Having thought about using a TC head and passive RCF cabinet, I`m back to maybe using an active cab. I was in Glasgow today and jumped into Guitarguitar to see what they had. I have a limited budget of up to around £400 and am looking to get a 15" speaker so I can use it on it`s own on small gigs without pa support. The only one they had was the Alto TS315 at £289. I told the guy what I wanted it for and asked if he had sold many for this purpose. Yes but mostly to guitar players. He went and got a bass for me, a Fender Mustang and plugged it in direct, no pre amp. It sounded ok, volume full on the bass and the volume control on the cab at 12 0`clock. Not a very good way to test the cab. He didn`t really seem to know much and didn`t offer any advice. I asked if they sold RCF`s? No he said they keep breaking down and need repaired unlike the Alto which rarely fail. He could be right but I think it was the fact that they don`t stock them! I`m thinking that if I go down the powered cab route, I will get something like the RCF ART 316 A mark 4. https://www.thomann.de/gb/rcf_art_315_a_mk_iv.htm Any opinions?
  4. Moved my comment to the main FRFR topic as I feel as if I`m jumping on the op`s topic which wouldn`t be right!
  5. Cool Murray, thanks for sharing!
  6. Final price drop to £680 collected.
  7. I`m thinking of installing one of Kiogon`s exc passive wiring looms which would be a better bit of kit than the original more than likely, removing the East and selling it separately. The price would be £450 collected. Of course as soon as I do that someone will turn up and want it with the East pre!
  8. I thought Chas Hodges played on Telstar? By the way, i`m seeing Booker T Time is tight!!
  9. How do you mean? Do you have info on it, is it for sale? There is always interest in an old P bass with lots of stories to tell especially when it belongs to a respected player such as Dave.
  10. Whoever had that really looked after that. The older I get, I realise that a decent budget bass, similar to this, would do me instead of spending loads of cash on impulse buys.
  11. Sad on the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. Great player. The Canned Heat story is one of triumphs and sadness. If you can get a hold of a copy of Living the blues by drummer Fito de la Parra get it. Its quite a story.
  12. I`m just happy to get a reply from somebody after all those views! Remember I don`t mind travelling to meet up, just ask.
  13. I`d go for 5. You aren`t shafting the current drummer but your letting them know that should changes happen you would be interested. Or do what Ian Paice did when asked to join Deep Purple. He didn`t give a toss about the current drummer, he "grabbed the opportunity with both hands." It seems to have worked out okay for him.
  14. The tuners look like those cheap ones you get on the Squiers but they say Fender on them? Also the neck doesnt look right. The made in Japan label is usually closer to the body than seems here and the neck heel looks as if it doesnt go into the body far enough. Of course I could be wrong!!
  15. Earlier this year my acdc band played support to Brian Downey`s Lizzy band and one of his (I think it was Brian Grace) crazily talented guitarist watched the whole set from the side and complemented on how good our rhythm section was. That was nice as it`s usually the singer and lead guitarist who get all the glory.
  16. Still here and looking for a loving owner.
  17. Glasgow/Paisley/Ayrshire we got paid anything from £180 to £270 for a pub gig, playing for just over 2 hours. Not very good for a 5 piece. We were offered a gig at the Lizard festival up in Frazerburgh for £250 plus bed and breakfast earlier this year which we played last year for £500 so I don`t really know whats the deal up North. Needless to say we told him to stick his £250!
  18. I have a Jazz on hold for someone on here and if the Jazz goes this will be staying. I`m not kidding you know, I really, really, really mean it!
  19. Spot on, the pa cab would be full range and voiced differently. When I think about it, there have been topics like this in the past, some of which I might have started or contributed to so off to use the search function I go!
  20. No the Ashdown is fine but I sometimes travel with the guitarist and any space that can be saved is a bonus. Also I just fancy trying out a pa cab to see if I prefer the sound. I may end up going with a powered cab but I`m just trying to weigh up different options.
  21. The RCF speaker I have mentioned is passive.
  22. All these topics about FRFR has got me thinking. On the rare occasions when I have to gig with my own back line one of these setups might be ideal. Has anyone tried a passive speaker with a small class d head? I ask this because I have a TC BQ 500 and am looking at the RCF Art 315 mk 3 at £214 on Thomman. It`s rated at 300 watts which would be ok with the TC or even the ABM I own. It would be used for the odd pub gig without pa support. Normally on a gig like this, I would use my Ashdown 2 x 10 cab with one of the heads. I don`t really have the budget to get a decent powered speaker and was just having a think. Any opinions?
  23. For small gigs the Rumble on it`s own is ideal. Light and powerful and something I really regret moving on. I never used it with an ext cab but I have no doubt that it would be great.
