  1. I only starting to really listen to them at the start of lockdown and I`m glad I did. Toiler on the sea is a fantastic song. Luckily enough I think that Baz is a great front man well up to the job. It seems that some fans of the band can`t get over the fact that Hugh left...in 1990! Re the bass tone. In the gig below, there is no amps on stage just Ashdown cabs but they don`t seem to have any cables coming from them when you see them round the back so I don`t know whats going on.
  2. Here is a MIM P bass, good condition, just a few light marks on the edges of the body and a scrape on the bottom horn on the rear. No actual lumps of paint missing as such just light scratches. Fitted with Gotoh Japan vintage style tuners, Tonerider pickup and one of Kiogon`s wiring looms. Weight is 4.3 kg or 9.5 lb`s. Collection from Paisley or localish meet up and not looking for any trades thanks.
  3. A few years back he did a live session for Ken Bruce and he was dreadful. Granted it was like 11 am but he sounded like a bad pub singer to me.
  4. Sorry, I should have read the other replies before posting
  5. If you have a 4 x10 and a 2 x 10 running from a TH500 and you still can`t be heard over the drummer, either you or your band have some serious problems I used one of those Ashdown cabs with MAG 300 head a few years back in quite a loud band and could be heard fine. They aren`t the best cabs but all the same. Can you not borrow another head from someone, ditch the pedals and try going right into the amp and see if it`s loud enough?
  6. If it`s in a hardcase, Overland Express. Depends how much it`s worth as most will not insure if it`s not in a case. Either that or UPS? https://www.overlandexpress.co.uk/guitar-courier?fbclid=IwAR3fK12yJXVe5pSTJRoCn6PCVLrrwmn_D6OEojzQ-hn3VTwN_IRVMXrmLfg
  7. I have mostly gigged a P bass or version of. Earlier this year I bought a MM Sterling and am using this or a modified Ray 4 for gigs. I could never get on with MM`s in the past as I couldn`t anchor my thumb where I like it but I have added a wooden thumb rest to the body`s and this simple mod has made them usable. Also the neck on the Sterling is perfect for me.
  8. Just listened to Pigs on YT. Bloomin fantastic! Ordered the blu ray version. Ta for the heads up.
  9. The second hand bass prices in Guitarguitar is shocking. A second hand MM Sterling from 2000, £1899 - a 2021 US P pro 2, £1599 - a 2002 US Standard P, £1199. I like GG, have bought quite a few things in there over the years but they are just taking the p with those prices. I guess that they wont be the only ones doing this but the price of the Sterling in particular made me scratch my head. I can understand the new prices but s/h asking prices are just getting silly now.
  10. Got this a weeks back but have went back to a double gig bag as it suits my needs better. In as new condition, £20 collected from me in Paisley so almost half price when you add shipping in. Will post actual photo later.
  11. Another smooth deal with John. Not fitted it yet but looks a lovely bit of kit. Ta Gerry
  12. Here you go, Overland Express. https://www.overlandexpress.co.uk/guitar-courier?fbclid=IwAR3fK12yJXVe5pSTJRoCn6PCVLrrwmn_D6OEojzQ-hn3VTwN_IRVMXrmLfg Used them loads after a recommendation on here and they were really good but I didn`t claim on their insurance. As they are now advertising themselves as a "guitar courier" I would give it a try. The main advantage of them, is you can actually phone up and speak to them. Shocking I know Just read a bit and it must be in a hard case. But to be honest, I wouldn`t send a bass without one these days. A cheap one from Gear4muscic or a s/hand one would do the job.
  13. This would cost you $99, thats £85 from G&L plus another $50 at least to ship so get it bought for that P bass project as ikay`s above
  14. I`ve played in bands for 17 years and can`t remember any player ever noticing what type of bass I played despite changing them on a regular basis. As long as you can play your parts to the desired standard and aren`t a tw*t, I don`t think it matters if you play a fretted or fretless bass,
  15. Here is my Classic 60`s Jazz for sale only, no swaps thanks. It is in good condition but there are a few dings which were on the bass when I bought it. The worst is a inch long dent on the top edge of the body where your arm comes over, a small dent on the front edge between the bridge and control plate, a couple of dings on the back and a mark on the fingerboard. It weighs 4.2 kg or 9.2 lb`s, it has a new set of Ernie Ball Slinkys fitted and will come in a rather nice Thomann gig bag. I will fit the original strap buttons before sale. Collection from Paisley, local meet up or I don`t mind a bit of travelling for a sale. I will not post the bass as I would rather you seen the cosmetic issues for yourself. Thanks Here is photo`s of the cosmetic issues
  16. Here is a G&L MFD pickup for sale only. It was taken off a M2000 model and that is why it has black pole pieces rather than the silver pole pieces from the L2000. I don`t know if it`s the same pickup, I know that the pre amp was different in the M series? The back of the pickup is a bit sticky as there was some double sided tape on it to hold a bit of foam in place but other than that, it`s in vgc. Looking for £60 delivered to UK mainland only.
  17. Another successful deal with Stu. Top man! Ta Gerry
  18. Most couriers insist in the item being in a cardboard box these days. It usually says this in the conditions of postage.
  19. For sale only is a Nate Mendel P bass body. Pretty sure it`s ash? Weight is 2.5 kg or 5.5 lb`s. Now as you can see it`s no case queen. It has been painted several times and has some additional dodgy routing under the pickgaurd, which is all hidden when said pickgaurd is fitted. It has various bumps and dings on it, perfect if you want a Roadworn body I don`t think it would be suitable for a painted finish unless you are good at that sort of thing. Please bear this in mind if you are thinking of taking it. Looking for £90 posted to the UK or collection from me in Paisley.
  20. Re the Behringer BDi 21 as a back up, I have found if you put a boost pedal before it or a Sadowsky pre amp as I do, the 21 does a great job as an emergency back up. 18 years is good value from an amp, time for something new!
  21. Calling @Bassassin Thats quite nice looking.
  22. With a loud drummer and no pa support, a single 115 pro neo ain`t gonna cut it no matter what amp you use. I used a single one with a variety of heads and on it`s own it just doesn`t have the "heft" It needs to be paired with something else, preferably another 115. I must admit, I wasn`t impressed with the cab but that is only my opinion. I now use a Ashdown 4 x 10 and Mag 400 head and that is loud!
