Bet they're kicking themselves now
jezzaboy replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Re Every breath. I either read or saw an interview with Andy where he said that it was indeed his riff and that he was quite happy with the deal that him and Sting came to over it`s use. I don`t think Andy is at the poor house knocking on the door. -
Do not bring that bass again... please
jezzaboy replied to javi_bassist's topic in General Discussion
A guy who worked with a company I worked with for a while found out I was a bass player. He was on the lookout as he had apparently mislaid his bass player. He then proceeded to tell me in no uncertain terms that if I wanted the pleasure of playing for him I would need a P bass, Sansamp and use a pick. As I didn`t have a P bass, a Sansamp and can`t play with a pick to save myself, I told him where to go. This turned out to be the right thing to do as it turns out he was a right fu*kwit! -
Gotta agree. I bought the double one and at £135 I thought it was a bit pricey but for the spec, so far it`s been great.

Just sold Chris another bass, the 3rd I think. Great guy to deal with and a nice guy. Thanks! Gerry

5 string strings on a 4 string

Welcome! Yeah quite a few guys on here have done it. You may have to give the neck a tweak and alter the nut but not always. Someone who has done it will no doubt be along shortly. -
How to find a drummer? Central Scotland
jezzaboy replied to Thunderpaws's topic in General Discussion
Finding a drummer is easy, finding a good drummer who isn`t already in 4 other bands, not so easy. If you are on facebook try the Musicians available in central Scotland or Gumtree. Strange as it may seem, I seem to do ok finding people from Gumtree. Once you sieve out the nutters! Good luck man. -
Cool guys, ta for the explanation.

I have read this many times over the years but what does it actually mean? What is scooping the mids?

Tried listening to The Stranglers today....

I only starting to really listen to them at the start of lockdown and I`m glad I did. Toiler on the sea is a fantastic song. Luckily enough I think that Baz is a great front man well up to the job. It seems that some fans of the band can`t get over the fact that Hugh left...in 1990! Re the bass tone. In the gig below, there is no amps on stage just Ashdown cabs but they don`t seem to have any cables coming from them when you see them round the back so I don`t know whats going on. -
Here is a MIM P bass, good condition, just a few light marks on the edges of the body and a scrape on the bottom horn on the rear. No actual lumps of paint missing as such just light scratches. Fitted with Gotoh Japan vintage style tuners, Tonerider pickup and one of Kiogon`s wiring looms. Weight is 4.3 kg or 9.5 lb`s. Collection from Paisley or localish meet up and not looking for any trades thanks.

A few years back he did a live session for Ken Bruce and he was dreadful. Granted it was like 11 am but he sounded like a bad pub singer to me.

Sorry, I should have read the other replies before posting

If you have a 4 x10 and a 2 x 10 running from a TH500 and you still can`t be heard over the drummer, either you or your band have some serious problems I used one of those Ashdown cabs with MAG 300 head a few years back in quite a loud band and could be heard fine. They aren`t the best cabs but all the same. Can you not borrow another head from someone, ditch the pedals and try going right into the amp and see if it`s loud enough?

If it`s in a hardcase, Overland Express. Depends how much it`s worth as most will not insure if it`s not in a case. Either that or UPS? https://www.overlandexpress.co.uk/guitar-courier?fbclid=IwAR3fK12yJXVe5pSTJRoCn6PCVLrrwmn_D6OEojzQ-hn3VTwN_IRVMXrmLfg

I have mostly gigged a P bass or version of. Earlier this year I bought a MM Sterling and am using this or a modified Ray 4 for gigs. I could never get on with MM`s in the past as I couldn`t anchor my thumb where I like it but I have added a wooden thumb rest to the body`s and this simple mod has made them usable. Also the neck on the Sterling is perfect for me.

Just listened to Pigs on YT. Bloomin fantastic! Ordered the blu ray version. Ta for the heads up.

The second hand bass prices in Guitarguitar is shocking. A second hand MM Sterling from 2000, £1899 - a 2021 US P pro 2, £1599 - a 2002 US Standard P, £1199. I like GG, have bought quite a few things in there over the years but they are just taking the p with those prices. I guess that they wont be the only ones doing this but the price of the Sterling in particular made me scratch my head. I can understand the new prices but s/h asking prices are just getting silly now.

Another smooth deal with John. Not fitted it yet but looks a lovely bit of kit. Ta Gerry

Here you go, Overland Express. https://www.overlandexpress.co.uk/guitar-courier?fbclid=IwAR3fK12yJXVe5pSTJRoCn6PCVLrrwmn_D6OEojzQ-hn3VTwN_IRVMXrmLfg Used them loads after a recommendation on here and they were really good but I didn`t claim on their insurance. As they are now advertising themselves as a "guitar courier" I would give it a try. The main advantage of them, is you can actually phone up and speak to them. Shocking I know Just read a bit and it must be in a hard case. But to be honest, I wouldn`t send a bass without one these days. A cheap one from Gear4muscic or a s/hand one would do the job.
