  1. Good work! Thanks for taking the plunge. I’m going to try that.
  2. Hi What impedance and wattage? Ta.
  3. Ah, it looks like you’ve got a Sterling, the kind that used to be called a Sub Ray 4, but is now called a Sterling Stingray 4. Just to confuse matters. I have one of these basses, and I’ve also been looking for a replacement bridge. There are near copies of the real Stingray bridge on eBay. I got one for about twelve quid, and found that it looks better, but the string spacing is too narrow, by about 3mm at the bridge. The build quality is about the same. I attach a photo of a similar one, but with Sterling logo. I am going to try drilling or filing out the stud holes, so that I can use the wider spaced saddles from the original (as in your photo). Some folks have tried the Badass II bridge, with good results. Hope this helps!
  4. Is it the more recent MM bridge, or the older style with the studs?
  5. A 1964 Gibson ES335. Cherry red stop tail. I loved that guitar. I bought it for £280, and sold it for three hundred smackers, cuz I was bored or something. I can even remember the serial number. I am an idiot.
  6. Yeah, I imagine it’s to do with the omission of the massive studs from the old bridge design. Very beautiful bass, all the same.
  7. Me too. I was up In Glasgow at the weekend, even went into GuitarGuitar and eyed those Cort basses.
  8. Cripes, where are all these BBG’s coming from all of a sudden?
  9. Got WAAAY too many fret lines!
  10. Stone cold bargain!
  11. Hi Sara I think the RC-50 is known for this problem. If you switch to Rhythm Priority mode you get better luck, but you will lose Tempo Sync functionality. I’m guessing you know this already. Are you linking the two devices with a MIDI cable, or trying to tap dance them separately? I have an RC-300, which is similar but has different functionality.
  12. Wilton Felder, the Crusaders’ sax player, played bass on some of their records. I think I recall seeing footage of him playing a Precision.
  13. Yep, very nice. I’ve got one of those. Delicious! A blue one just went for forty six quid on eBay! Ridiculous. The flame one in the pix has got a wee ding on the lower edge, but it looks like the photo flame is intact. I’m tempted, but it’s collection only. Miles away.
  14. Yah, forgot to say AND tighten the string claw all the way. And tighten the five (six?) bridge screws ditto. Simples!
  15. I find blocking to be very effective, lo-tech and yet not crude. Unless you hack a log down to size with a chainsaw. A piece of parquet flooring is likely to be the exact thickness required.
  16. I’ve got the Dukes of September live DVD. Awesome playing from consummate professionals.
  17. Quite nice. For a Warwick.
  18. Yes, on TalkBass folk certainly seem enamoured of the sound and playability, including in a live situation. Most encouraging. I also have read some comments on there to the effect that the bass seems amazingly compact when first unboxed.
