I had both. I really miss the Roadworn S/B Jazz the most though - wish I hadn't traded it - but in a moment of madness, I was trying to reduce the number of basses I own... I preferred the 60's S/B Roadworn, mainly because, for me, the neck felt "just right". The Flea Jazz neck is a tad thinner, but still very nice Personally, I'm used to the VVT control arrangement, and I wasn't so keen on the stacked knob controls on the Flea Some people much prefer them, but I found VVT a bit quicker to get the sound I wanted In terms of sound, they both sound great, but my sunburst RW Jazz had the pickups replaced with some lovely 70's / 80's vintage DiMarzio's and they were great The Flea sounded good though too. Oh, the Flea felt a bit lighter weight - in case that's important to you (though I never weighed them precisely) Re the Flea bass colour - it's pink, but it's a very pale, faded pink, and not so in-your-face Whichever of these you get, you'll have an amazing bass, I'm sure of that. To my mind, the differences are minor (apart from colour, of course) Fender Roadworn series basses are amazing - they really feel "played in". Good luck with your purchase

I agree with Grahambythesea I think an Ibanez Roadster would be a great YOB bass Or could you opt for something like a HondoII - I recently restored one of their P bass copies| And it was a really nice bass. Good luck with your search - and let us know what you go for

The body looks Peavy-ish to me The pickguard could be a replacement, of course Looks good for £28 with an amp! Bargain, I'd say

You thought you liked skinny necks - and maybe as a general rule, you do However, it seems to me, that just now & again, when you pick a bass up it just feels "right" - even if it doesn't fit your usual requirements Perhaps it's just the feel of the neck? Maybe it's the radius? Perhaps it's just well set-up? Perhaps it's all of these things? From your post, it seems that you are reluctant to move this bass on, because it has been a pleasant surprise I think if you did sell it on, you may well end up regretting it! There is one bass I wish I'd never moved on, and I'm really regretting it now I'd say, keep this bass - even if it's just for a while. Play it, play it as much as you can, and in a few weeks you will probably know the answer to your own question Sell something else if you make up your mind to keep this one..... but giving it a fair crack of the whip, means you are making a more informed decision, either way Look at it this way, it's actually a "nice problem" to have, one bass too many, and no immediate financial pressure to sell. Let us know what you decide. Perhaps a few of us need to leave our new basses in the car overnight? More importantly though - congratulations, and I hope your new baby daughter is ok

Indeed - though at the time (and it was a long time back) it seemed "different" rather than ahead of its' time - these are sometimes, but not always the same thing, of course Yes, there are many values to social media, and this is one of them.... Happy re-visiting of the past, and happy exploring of new inspiration

Ah, "Drastic Plastic" "Axe Vicitim" (which had a brilliant cover - well, I thought it was.... back in the day) Re BN's Red Noise - I used to think the video to "Do you dream In colour" was the wackiest thing I'd ever seen! You can look up loads of Bill Nelson on YouTube - A Firestick was the best thing I ever bought (non-bass related, that is) For some inexplicable reason, I sold quite a bit of vinyl years back.... One of the albums I'm really sorry I sold, was "Atmospheres for dreaming" - which came as a bonus 12" disc with another LP (I think that was "Quit dreaming and get on the beam"? - please correct me if I'm wrong) But I'd taped "Atmospheres" and probably needed cash..... I haven't found a copy on CD, and really wish I could Anyhow, as soon as Duarte said your track sounded like BN - I Immediately thought the same, as it reminded me of "Atmospheres" I played the track again earlier... and I'll play it again later. Let me know when your CD is released!

Nice Do you dream in colour?

I had an acoustic bass (Ibanez) and never suffered any feedback problems - except when I put the bass close to speaker (forgot the amp was on! lol) I'd still have the bass now, if my son hadn't taken such a fancy to it Let us know how you get on - but if it's a circular "sound hole" - I'm sure one of those rubbery pads / blockers acoustic guitarists use should fit

Blimey itsmedunc.... Can I dep for you? I'm in several bands, so it varies, depending on which band / where the venue is etc But generally, most of us drive, and we try to share lifts whenever possible.... -

Great playing for one so young, and after only 6 weeks! Amazing stuff - the trick now, is to keep him interested As Grangur says..... he'll be teaching you soon -
Sorry to be late to the party (it's been a manic week! lol) I think the OP did the right thing in approaching the lead member of the band. A personal chat is far better than a text when you decide to leave a band And you did the right thing, if the music was just not for you. Nothing worse than being stuck in a band who aren't particularly pals, and you don't enjoy the music. But on a positive note - you got to do some work which was outside your usual "genre" - nothing wrong with that - we all need to step outside our usual boundaries once in a while... It does our playing no harm. Plus, you got to compose your own basslines - which is very different from learning other peoples' basslines, and replicating them.... no bad thing Blue, I've quoted you above, because I really like the sentiment behind your statement here - that and the fact you seem to have given up a regular nice to five type job and salary, for music, which is obviously something you enjoy As you say, if you can get paid for something you enjoy - you're never really "at work" Good on you sir!
-
Yes, and of course, it was a few years till Video recorders were available - so you couldn't even re-watch your favourite episodes or bands.... You had to hope and wait for a repeat
-
Thanks for the heads-up Blue

A bargain indeed. Great price. Let us know how you get on with the refret

Oh no, no, no, no Mr Discreet.... I'm fairly sure it's in YOUR head as well

I had very little GAS.... until I discovered Basschat! BTW. If you steer clear of BC for any considerable length of times - GAS returns, and is roughly double what it was before your leave of absence!

Cheers for that again. I'm going to look on Thomann's website now - see if I can find out more about buying a Twister Though in truth, I'm quite happy with my Innovation E string - I just like to experiment a bit, if it's not too expensive I was using Spirocore Weichs on my DB, but the innovation Gold Slaps are a bit louder, with a nice dark, low "growl" Pop them back on your bass, and give them another whirl

Just another thought from me.... Has anyone on here used a Sansamp for Double bass, or Electric upright? Wondering how they sound in that application.....
