"Sirerays" listed on Andertons (and probably other places)tobiewharton replied to neepheid's topic in Bass Guitars Me. And probably anyone who favours a P-style neck over a J. 40mm perhaps could have satisfied both preferences? I'm still not overly keen - always feels like a compromise to me. 38mm nut width necks, touted as 'fast', are swapped into P-style basses more often than vice versa. Good technique, profile and finish are far more significant in rendering a neck 'faster' IMO. Horses for courses and all that...

Sounds brilliant in the BTW demo! Well-featured too, with the HPF, Scoop and Grit. Separate footswitches for the latter two would be even better but their absence wouldn't be a game-changer for me. I suspect I'll end up getting one of these even though I definitely don't need it 🙄

On my small board I use a Plethora X3 for modulation/octave/tuner with a Two Notes Revolt for EQ and OD, and an Ampeg Opto Comp. Appreciate this is not a true multi-fx solution, but the hybrid of 3-channel tube pre and multi-fx means lots of flexibility with minimal menu scrolling and more stomping. I don't get along with the Hypergravity on the Plethora, hence the separate comp; if you did then that's just two pedals. Both the Revolt and Plethora come with their respective power supplies. You also have aux in, phones and DI out on the Revolt.

Empress Bass Comp vs. Lusithand Alma Comp MkIItobiewharton replied to tobiewharton's topic in Effects So, the Opto Comp arrived and has had a few outings. I really like it - does exactly what I want it to, seems robust and is very quiet. At this stage, seems like a bargain. The simple white colourway also fits with the other two pedals on my small board which is very satisfying 😁

I use one of these and I think they're outstanding. Laney should have a huge following. The Nexus amps were great (I owned an SLS for a while but changed up following an obsession with 'lighter is better' 🙄), the RBs are great (I have an RB3 at home) and now the new effects (got a Blackheath on my big board too) are killing it. And all of these at sensible price points. Props to Laney - great gear!

Empress Bass Comp vs. Lusithand Alma Comp MkIItobiewharton replied to tobiewharton's topic in Effects Cheers all. I've actually ordered a discounted Ampeg Opto Comp as figured there's little to lose and it seems to review quite well. If it turns out to be pants I think the Alma 2 will be calling!
