  1. Got this lovely Fender Reggie Hamilton 5er from a nice guy in Austria! They seem quite rare and black especially but I’ve been after a 5 string PJ bass for a while. Not sure about the tortoiseshell pickguard, so I’ve asked “Tiny Tone” to do a 3 ply black one (BWB). First impressions are that the tonal versatility is huge! Using the P pickup in isolation and you’d be hard pressed not to think it was a P Bass and blending in the J gives a more balanced/modern tone. It sounds equally good in passive mode which is selected via a push button. Oh and it only weighs 3.7kg!!! I’ll take some better pics when the pickguard returns, but meanwhile here’s a quick one next to my Shuker! any other Reggie Hamilton owners out there…..?
  2. Make no mistake these are great basses. I had the same but with birdseye maple tobacco finish. They have a deliciously “dark woody tone” with an amazing B string. GLWTS
  3. Shuker basses are brilliant - wouldn’t be without my Series 2. This must be one of the best PJ basses you could get, shame for me it’s one string short! Also worth noting that Shuker’s post sale service is first class - nothing is too much trouble. You might have to wait (he’s a busy in-demand guy) but he always comes up trumps. Whoever gets this is going to be v happy !!
  4. Just “wow” - it’s 1 string short for me otherwise I’d be beating a bath to your door!! GLWTS (& maybe change the thumbnail pic to show it off!!) 👍🏻🎶
  5. My thoughts exactly !!! Where is £8k when you need it !!!
  6. Love these - used to have the Nirvana Black Oil $$ 5. Great bass - the finish marks really easily though!

  8. These are great basses, and imo this one is outstanding value for money - if only it had one more string !! GLWTS
  9. Fantastic basses and this is one of the nicer burl tops I’ve seen. Absolute bargain imo !!
  10. These are amazing things - love mine! The noise cancelling (which you can switch on and off) is highly effective and great if you’re travelling/commuting.
  11. Wow - great value for money. I love my TC Electronic! I got replacement knobs direct from TCE for the same reason mentioned, and they’ve been fine since, so don’t let that put you off. GLWTS
  12. Yes, genuinely fanless, but having only been used at home I don’t know whether it would get very hot - I remember checking with Laney before buying it and they said the cooling is via the internal heat sinks. I’ve never used the DI so can’t say whether it is noiseless - but there was very little noise via the speakon cable to the Vanderkley cab. Cab now sold so not sure how to test the DI - any ideas on that? I might be able to get some info on signal/noise ratio off Laney?
  13. Excellent condition Vanderkley cab which I’m selling as we’ve moved fully to IEM. The full specs can be found here: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Vanderkley_EXT112.html if you’re looking at this you probably know what high quality speakers these are. Steel grill, tough carpet cover and robust corner protection although this one has remained mainly at home. can meet up around eastern half of M25 or here near Chelmsford. these are £600 new plus £50 for a cover (ridiculous! - my cover is unbranded) so get yourself a great deal here - why not add my Laney Head Amp also on here to go with it !!
  14. ****reduced to £200 ONO***** All boxed up ready to go! This is a great (powerful) little amp for home or stage use. if you’re a bit like me and hate noise - good news!! This unit has no cooling fan!! excellent condition with all original packaging. Price includes UK postage or you can collect for a £25 discount.. my main amp is a TCE staccato51 and I’m moving to a combo due to space at home now. All the details can be found here: https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-amps/bass-amp-heads/solid-state-bass-amp-heads/richter-bass-head-500w-rms-compressor-10-band-graphic-eq-di Hard to beat with 500w at the price and has served me well.
  15. Hi sorry for the delay. I’m not sure but it is identical (apart from not being wide spacing) in terms of spec (I think) to this: https://reverb.com/item/3117434-spector-ns5h2-wide-string-spacing-2015-spalted-maple maybe some Spector experts on here will know?
  16. Also a great bit of kit for home recording your bass - I used one through lockdown to record bass parts 👍🏻👍🏻 This is great value for money.
  17. This is an absolute bargain for a Shuker. Love my series 2. GLWTS.
  18. Lovely - I had the same bass some years back and like and idiot sold it! As said already, it sounds nothing like a thumb but has a unique but still Warwick like tone. I see like mine this one has had the nut upgraded to the brass version which gives more zing! The other nice thing about these is that they are usually quite light. if you decide to sell in future, give me a shout 😂😂
  19. That is the most beautiful single cut I have ever seen - gorgeous!! GLWTS
  20. Agree with @hooky_lowdown - Yamaha make really decent basses and incredible price points. The think I've found (having owned a few over the years) is that they seem to have nailed down the quality control really well, so the general build fit & finish is usually good. I have found them sometimes to be a bit on the heavy side. One of my very early basses was a Yamaha TRB5 (first series) and I thought the bridge on that was brass (I may be wrong) and the sustain was excellent. The only thing often found on them was not so great jack inputs, easily fixed by switching to a better quality component. So have you swapped rhythm guitar for good and come over to the dark side? If you have, just be aware that you will never appear in any music videos !!!! 😂😂 We are invisible !!
