1. I've told Daughter2, not to even think about getting married for another 10 years lol.
2. Cheers Karl, it's a great bass and as you said, a lot of bass for the money, but just not for me I fear. Still, not in a mad rush and it might still do another gig or two with me before it goes to a new owner.
3. Really nice Tom, would suit me down t'ground.....unfortunately the Daughter's upcoming wedding has wiped me out.
4. I only picked this up a couple of weeks back from stand up geezer Karlfer of this parish. It's a totally stock 2008 Lakland 44-01, one of the last made before moving production from South Korea to Indonesia. I was looking for a Jazz a Like back up bass and ended up getting this and a new G&L Tribute JB-2, with a view of keeping one that suited best. I've done a couple of gigs with the 44-01 and find the Tribby is better suited to my needs sound wise for the 60s band stuff (it's better on the 80s band stuff though, but Ive got the basses covered sufficiently there). It's in good condition for an 8 year old bass with just a few minor dings and surface scratches but no nasty chips or gouges as can be seen in the pics. It's strung with medium gauge flats with lots of life left in em. I'm looking for £340 collected (or close meet up - South Yorkshire area) as a straight sale. I will post, but no OHSC for this so costs/packing would need to be discussed. I will entertain trade offers but have put a higher value of £375 for trade purposes, passive 4 stringers only please......preferably some kind of Fenderish Jazz or maybe a Tribby L2000 at a push. Oh, and for those weight fanatics like myself, the bass comes in at 8lb 15oz.......
5. Colour me jealous......Enjoy mate!
6. I've been looking for a 4 string version of this for like, forever.....good luck with the sale Marcus
7.
I have fun whenever I play, however I don't play for fun and I don't get it. Blue
It's not all about money Blue.....some people just love to play music. Different hearts have different strings, Just accept it, understanding is not required.
8. That's a great price, wish you were a bit closer. Please don't tell me it's less than 9lbs or I'll cry! Can't see this hanging about for long.
9. It's on hold Karlfer otherwise I'd have it!
10. I used to have one of these, same colour, Number 00264. It was a sublime Jazz Bass, total quality.
11. A mid weekend bumpola
12. Hmmmmmmmm ruby red 4003S....that would be very nice. It'd be just like a 4003 but without the fight and arm cutting ;-)
13. OMG....my YOB and month of Birth Precision. I didn't see this, I didn't see this, Ididnt see this............
14. Thanks for the information and advice guys. Had a session with the physio today, I was dreading it but he was very careful with the manipulation and movement exercises and there was definitely an improvement with my movement and level of pain after the session. After discussion with him he's fairly sure that it's spondylosis as opposed to AS and has scheduled me for sessions at 5 day intervals to keep me on a recovery path. It may be a while before I'm comfortable with a bass again, even after half an hour with my little Streamie strapped on it felt like someone was pressing screwdrivers into my neck and shoulder so I'll have to take it easy for a bit. No gigs for a few weeks so that should be doable.
15. Cheers Walshy, she may be artificially aged but she's still a peach! If you find yourself unable to resist let me know, me, the wife and our mental cocker (Meg) are looking for an excuse to spend a few hours in Alnmouth and tromping the sands in Druridge Bay in the next couple of weeks!
16. Cheers Wonky, I've intentionally not scanned the interweb as I know down that path goes madness (or at least severe hypochondria). The Doc was fairly blaise with the diagnosis...along the lines of 'you're in your fifties, you've suffered wear and tear'.....there was no suggestion of auto-immune; are there different types? As far as I can tell, no other joints are affected but the pain in me neck is making me carry myself arkwardly so I'm suffering as much from muscle aches/pains as joints. No extreme meds prescribed...he refused to give Diazapam even though my Physio said it would be useful for a few days to relax all the muscles so he could try and free the nerves up a bit. I know what you mean about movement, trying to get the right balance is proving difficult. I'm going to go to rehersal tonight (with my lightweight gear) just to try and loosen up a bit. I think I've had this for a while, I had an episode about 5 years ago which resolved itself after a couple of months; since then the odd twinge but nothing significant. This though has been more severe and protracted - enough to make me sit up and take notice!
17.
The original vs of that is actually Tommy James, better known for 'Mony Mony'. Lovich (and later Tiffany) are both cover versions.
Well you learn something new every day
18.
The Wal had to go a few months back. It was being left on the wall as a very expensive ornament :-( I think this bad boy's back to being the main weapon of choice - starting at rehearsal tonight!
Nice one.....you could never accuse a Ray of being a coffee table!
19.
Lene Lovitch's album with this on is very good. Great version of The Four Seasons song The night on it.
Loved Lena Lovich....didn't she do the original of another one hit wonder - I think we're alone now?
20. Thanks for the advice so far I haven't sold any basses yet, the Limelight (up for sale on here) will definitely have to go, it's about 9.5lbs. The Streamie is only about 7lb so if I can't get on with that it's time to pack in.... My other two I'll think about but to be honest as I only use the Fretless occasionally I will likely keep it....I've always liked the MM Ray 2EQ fretless sound and when I owned a graphite necked (phenolic board) fretless I wasn't a fan. So far just the cocodamol, Doc won't run to Tramadol or Diazapam, I'm hoping that it'll be sufficient. A new memory foam pillow has been purchased which I hope will also help. I'm allergic to ibuprofen.....so no help there lol!
21. Cheers Ray.... Fortunately I already have a Streamie, the others are mainly fo show (it doesn't look cool playing a Streamline when I'm doing Jam covers......apparently). Trip to the physio methinks....
22. No worries Kevvo. Unfortunately my Doc says my neck is knackered so my days with 'big boys' basses appears to be over
23. Well it appears that the years of playing bass have finally taken their toll and my neck and shoulder pain have been put down to spondylitis . (Spondylitis the condition not the band...if there is one). I've already put my heaviest bass (my Limelight Jazz) up for sale and will probably use my Status as main bass for the immediate future, but other than this has anyone got any tips to let me prolong my bass playing days?
