Hmmm drilling out with an ordinary but larger drill bit is not good as the bit will tend to slide of into the softer material ie the wood. I have had some success milling out the ends of SMALL broken screws using a diamond tipped modeling burrs such as these [url="http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=21887&name=diamond+bits&user_search=1&sfile=1&jump=0"]http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp?pf_...le=1&jump=0[/url] I used a small modeling drill rather than a dremel as i could not adjust the dremel to run slow enough to be accurate good luck

well I dont wax mine more than a couple of times a year, but the wood can get a bit dry. The warwick wax is rather hard and dosnt always soak in as well as it could especially on wood that is a bit dry. So I have switched to using a softer wax. just avoid any of the silicon based polishes. Bees-wax based furniture polish is just fine (ex spouse makes her own as a by product of her bee keeping hobby I find this works a treat). Pete Charic it tends to work the other way round kids borrow your basses, dont wipe the strings down after sweaty practice, and develop chops that puts parents efforts in the shade....It is still worth it though.

That headstock looks mighty pointy, might have to watch out for that on stage!

Welcome Big Dave If you are round all summer you might have time to pick up a used warwick form this very forum, which is going to be more cost effective than a brand spanking new one, all depends on what you are after. Used warwicks come up pretty frequently and folks on here have usually looked after their basses pretty well. If you wanted a scratch plate but with a more woody feel why not laminate one up from constructional veneer with a fancy grained top veneer of your choice then the world would be your oyster for changing those pick up routes. Given the color of the body wood you might consider a Macassar ebony or Walnut top veneer for a pick guard. These people have always sold me great veneer, check out their catalogue to get some idea of what is available. Dear Dave and others on this forum Could you suggest some suitable reading for a layman like myself about electronics in general which would also cover how tubes work and what they do, I dont want to become an expert as such but I would like understand what the various bits of circuits do the signal. Worth getting a meter on it and check that the power is getting at least as far as the jack. I had a similar problem in the past that turned out to be a duff battery connector. pete
