1. Ok I have read through the various pinned posts on flats and there is plenty of good general info in there, but I have a specific question which is not covered. I am looking for a five string set with a high C rather than a low B so if any one has recomendations I would love to hear them insted of the fall back position of getting a six string set and discarding the low B. looking for a light gauge set 30,40,55,75,95 or thereabouts. Any suggestions greatfully recieved. Thanks Pete
2. If you would consider a four string then How about a black RBX 374 and £150, drop me a pm if you are interested and i will send you pics of the yamaha. Cheers Pete
3. Other Home build no 2. gets the most play and most gigs. Back up duties go to Jaydee roadie. here is home build no 2. Walnut facings, mahogany core, bart mm4c at the back dimazio modle one at the front, NTBT eq.
4. Just a thought, you could finish it with a montage of those 'escort service buisness cards' that can be found in many of the phone boxes of london you know the sort of thing 'all tastes catered for'. I once finished a p bass in black leather but that was 1978. I found that it tended to chafe rather too much for comfort. Serriously though how about a really good paint job with flip paint check out paint job on Doods custom shuker to see just how good that can look.
5.
s'about it! Not bad eh!! All into a really small lunchbox sized bag!
I was hoping you might fit it on to utiliy belt a la Batman (or Ped man)
6. Hi ShergoldSnickers This guy is my I comp favorite and this tune is a real hoot worth a listen as is his more serious stuff. www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=30902 Cheers Pete
7. Hi Steve, will you be doing lessons from your home again once your move is sorted out ( it would give us out of london folk a stationary target to aim at), If so when do you think it would be possible. I would be looking to get some lessons after the hectic summer has past. All the best Pete
8. well i liked it, got me thinking it is time to get a key board to hook up to garage band I guess you are already aware of the Icomp web site but if not check it out at http://www.icompositions.com/ there may be stuff there to interest you. cheers Pete

10. great, very atmospheric Is that done with the bass in your avitar? Also how do you plug into 'garage band' through a mixer or just into the side of the mac?
11. Can any one shed any light on this bass as seen on the BBC Glastonbury coverage beeing played by the bass player for Paolo Nutini. I am guessing modifed Aerodyne but if anyone knows please let me know. I am not one for GAS usually but this looks and sounded very fine indeed. Cheers Pete
12.
I recall from somewhere that you can get some problems with teak as it is a very "oily" wood. To be safe you should maybe do a little research first to make sure whatever finish you choose will work ok. A quick Google found this Finishing Oily Woods but I'm sure there will be more relevant information out there.
Thanks Bod the shellac/resin varinsh finish works well on this teak. My boss has used a chunk to make a chart table for his boat (these old teak planks were a good match to the interior of his boat) using that very finish with the Bhelen bros varnish and it looks great. (the classic boat comunity can be a picky lot when it comes to finishes....'cant get propper paint since the gasworks closed' you can imagine the sort of thing. Anyway as varnish goes this stuff is pretty tough, pretty pricy but pretty As for me, well I would probably go down the shellac/wax route. Does the oilyness have any detrimental affect on tone
13.
Hi Pete, I'd imagine weight might be an issue? Teak has a reputation for being a heavy wood.
True enough but it might be useful for a slimline jazz type body although I would probably want to face it with something more attractive. I wonder what it would be like tone wise.
14. To come back to Alemboids very logical point about woods with strong seasonal growth bands beeing susectable to stabilitiy issues then why are tropical hard woods with little growth banding like teak and iroko not used. There are plenty of bubinga and other such hard woods around that are used that are of a similar density so why not teak, I have scored a bunch of recycled teak planks and was thinking of making a bed with them but now i am begining to wonder if a jazz style body might be an interesting test. Does anyone know any good reason why teak should not be worth a shot. Pete
15. Is it still available and What is the impeedance on this cab cheers pete
