1. Christmas is fast approaching and the credit crunch has "crunched". Can't justify keeping this rig when it has seen little use and the mortgage needs paying. Never gigged and in excellent condition. Amp serviced 2 months ago. Complete with cables and manual and genuine Ashdown badged covers. I can deliver within a 75 mile radius of Manchester for petrol cost, or will courier at cost. Prefer not to split. No trades thanks. The interesting looking 'raindrops on the lens' effect was caused by my cocker spaniel puppy sneezing on the cameraphone !! If rig doesn't sell the puppy will be next to be advertised (followed by one of my kidneys)
2. I noticed that HW Audio in Bolton http://www.hwaudio.co.uk/ have a 2nd hand corvette (bubinga) on the wall at the moment. Didnt clock many other details as my eyes were inexorably drawn towards the Sandberg next to it !! Only 20 minutes off your route. Neil
3. Since my daughter decided to take up bass earlier this year I've managed to source everything for her from this forum, Bass, strings, cables, lessons, hard case, combo & tuner. It wasn't a deliberate policy to begin with but whenever she needs something it always seems to be available here EXACTLY at the right time from helpful, knowledgable sellers. I've done a fair bit of brass instrument trading on and off for 10 years and I can tell you guys that its a breath of fresh air on here.

7.
Could you clarify what the problem you're dealing with here? Is the action too high? The neck too bowed? Or the neck at the wrong angle to the body?
Sorry. The body/neck angle is fine. There are two problems. I cannot generate sufficient neck relief. The truss rod has no tension on it - ive even removed the nut completely at one stage , yet the neck remains impossibly close to dead straight. Secondly the action is too high, the neck needs to be brought up relative to the bridge ( or as has been suggested lower down in the thread the bridge brought down by routing )
8. Hi all. I'm currently trying to set up an old Aria Pro II for my daughter. I stripped it down to refinish it some 3 months ago and then all manner of annoyances (work etc) got in the way. Refinished it in black last week & it looks great. However upon reassembly the neck seems to have developed several problems. The action was always a little on the high side but now its laughable even with the saddles adjusted so low they touch the bridge. With all the tension off the truss rod the neck is dead straight. The neck & body were stored flat, fully supported and at room temperature. The neck seems stable enough and has remained in tune since reassembly for a week. I have considered a full neck shim to bring the neck up relative to the bridge, what material do you suggest ? As regards the neck relief my only thoughts would be to restring with heavier gauge/higher tension (currently 45-105). Its a later model (Korean manufacture) and whilst its only worth buttons it looks (so I'm told by my daughter) 'well sick' and hasn't been out of her hands for the last week - in a way that her Jazz never was.
9.
Who do you recommend. http://www.victorcknight.co.uk/ http://www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk/default.asp Both offer really good quotes, but has anyone ever dealt with them, and been unfortunate to make a claim, did you encounter any problems ?.
I've used Allianz - but only for Orchestral Brass (French Horn/Trumpet/Trombone). Their quote was good and my one claim (tempts fate) was settled quickly and without quibble. Can't comment on your other choice. HTH Neil
10. Top guy to deal with. Good communications all round. Really pleased with the new bass.
11. More good feedback for Nick, not that he needs it !! My 14 year old daughter has just had her 3rd lesson with Nick. Nick is a breath of fresh air after her first teacher (who could play but not teach). Very encouraging in a laid back style and takes the time to find out what you want to get out of the lesson.
12. Pandora PX4D, does a hell of a lot for £75, PX5D does even more (but at twice the price).
13. Given that ParcelFarce are the nominated courier it'll probably arrive in several pieces.
14. Looking at the number of typos in my last response I think perhaps a new keyboard 9or brain) was in order as well. + 1 on not using cheapo connectors, my first line of attack when faultfinding is plugs/leads & sockets.
